Enya was born Eithne Ni Bhraonain in Donegal, Ireland. Enya studied classical music at college under private tuition. On leaving college she was asked by Producer Nicky Ryan to join her siblings in their family band. She did so for a short time, but found it too restrictive musically, and so in 1982 she joined Nicky Ryan and Roma Ryan in a creative and business partnership. Enya's first commission was to write a score for Sir David Puttnam for his film "The Frog Prince". Then, the triumvirate secured the soundtrack to the BBC documentary series 'The Celts'. Enya was then signed by Warner Music and all three by EMI Music Publishing. The first album of this contract was "Watermark" with the hit single "Orinoco Flow". This was followed by "Shepherd Moons", "The Memory of Trees", "Paint the Sky With Stars", "A Day Without Rain" which produced the single, "Only Time".

Remembering my dear mother. We played this at her funeral 7 years ago. She loved Enya and I remember the joy of coming home to the magic of Christmas holidays and the soundtrack of 'Paint the Sky with Stars' on the stereo. The essence of Enya's music felt inextricably linked with the magic of my mother. There's a sense of an infinite and eternal benevolence in her music that feels like the love a mother has for her children. I can feel that benevolent presence when I listen to Enya's music. I think thats why so many of us find it so profoundly healing. Remembering my dear mother was pure love. Remembering the good times. Remembering with infinite gratitude for all she gifted the world ✨💗🙏

I have never in my life heard music of this incredible caliber. Until I stumbled across Enya, I have never heard any songs that transcend for me as much as hers. Not from the other most transcendent artists in the world. This woman is like nothing else. She is a gift.

Every year, I go back home for Christmas and every year I play that song when I do so.
Been listening to Enya for over 3o years,as a teenager back in the early 1990s I was infatuated with her music,and nothing has changed now im going on 50yrs.Thank u Enya for the wonderfully amazing music, it was all I had to keep me from suicide at that time in life..❤❤❤❤

My daughter is grown now and lives with her partner. I used to play this coming up to christmas when she lived with me and she associates it with christmas now. I always send it to her on whatsapp coming up to christmas, and it makes her have the warm christmas feeling

This song & video takes away all pain & sorrow, like no one can imagine.
Enya music is soothing to a bruised and batterd soul. It can take you away to a place of comfort and bliss and remind you that you can also do that for yourself and over cone anything. Great to listen to while sleeping at low volume.

I think Enya did the mankind a favor that generations of music listeners will remember. I believe her songs motivated many people to turn their life around and pulled many more out of depression and misery. Stress alleviation is the greatest benefit that her songs bring. truly that world would’ve been a different place without her music. We the homosapiens owe her a great deal of respect for all she’s done. Wounds she’s healed and the joy she’s brought. Her songs will live forever.
Several years ago, I sat by the bedside of a dying elderly lady. From sunset to sunrise, she dreamed of happy memories.
While she slept, she out loud giggled, laughed and spoke to long past friends.
She died smiling as the sun rose, no family by her side as she stopped breathing...just me, a stranger in her eyes.
I played this song the following night and wept, so true are the words sung.

This was the first song by Enya and one of the first English songs that I ever heard. That was around 24 years back. I still remember the feeling that I got after listening to this music. The impression still persist in my brain and heart.
This song was dedicated to me in a birthday card with the album for my 18th. I listen to that song to this day and want to thank this person from a lifetime ago for this and for being a beautiful soul. I never forgot him and hope he's happy wherever he is
