Bangkok's Sukhumvit District: Nana, Bang Chak, & Thanon Phaya Thai

  • Today was super cool because I explored the streets of Sukhumvit District in Bangkok, Thailand! I only have 24 hours left in Bangkok before I leave. First, I checked out my local area, Bang Chak, and then hopped on the BTS Skytrain to head over to the Nana Plaza area. It was cool seeing bar street in the day time. After that, I hopped back on the BTS and found myself at a market in Thanon Phaya.
Bangkok has really grown on me, but I think I'll be ready to explore a smaller city soon.

Lived in Bangkok 17 months. Loved it so much ! Noise pollution is a problem but honestly walking down the street put a Cheshire Cat grin on my face every day😀.

What a trip, Bangkok. Looks pretty clean, considering the foot traffic that goes through that area each day. Thanks for bringing us with you, mate.

I think that the thing about a big city is knowing what locality to visit, or live in. Some places would seem too busy, and hectic for a lot of folks. I once lived in the concrete jungle, and it is totally different than living where there are houses. Some of the loneliest people on earth live in big cities, but they never feel lonely because of so many around them, which creates the synthetic illusion of companionship. "A City of Lonely Souls". Blessings from the USA.

      @WalkAboutWayne  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Yes, for sure. If I lived in Bangkok I would find an area away from the tourists spots. I like that quote David 👍. Thanks.

You should have gone up the Baiyoke Sky building to the top, it revolves 360 in about 7 minutes to get the most amazing views of Bangkok and you get a free drink/ cocktail

Yes mate Annie no doubt is next level, a real Bobby Dazzler. Those reviews I read were awesome for her. I know what you mean about the big brother approach though which can be a little overbearing when, as a tourist all you want is freedom and your own space. Bangers is way too busy for me though. I can never wait to get well away from the hustle and bustle made worse by the smog and draining heat. Lets hope the next place is another chilled hang out like Kanchanaburi. Nice video again Wayne. I tipped Chai you were in town yesterday so hopefully he messaged you before you left. He was also in Bangkok having returned from Vietnam. 🤩

Annie sure was a great woman. Excellent host. I'm a little over the hill for Hostels now though. It was a really nice place though. I think a couple days was enough for me in Bangkok, time to move on. Loads of content here though, so I'm sure I'll return. Good ol' Chai, I see him again, somewhere soon.

Hey Wayne a couple of those nice cheap bananas and apples can sustain you all day . So glad to see bkk through your eyes , saves me going there , the bar streets is great if it’s closed to traffic . Do they have bus tours like in New York? Can save the walking. The only busy city I like is Patong. It’s full of markets and bars. Amazing place lots to see and do! I was told Koen Kaen and Isan is also worth a visit too.

    • @WalkAboutWayne

Wayne... I saw some vlogs about living around the river area.. Seemed quieter and interesting. That night cruise looked like fun. And still had the BTS and nearby Chinatown. Anyway, I wonder if being "eye candy" was still a problem.

Nice blog mate. Interesting to see someone so familiar with Thailand yet so new to Bangkok. If you head down to the other end of Soi 4, you walk from the craziness of Nana to the serenity of Benjakitti Park all on the same soi!
Hang with the monitor lizards at Lumphini park late afternoon, walk over to Benjakitti by dusk for the Skywalk - good times and so calm in the middle of all that Bangkok commotion.
Especially after a good edible. Allegedly

I seriously cannot go without apples, I have to eat one daily in the states. I read a story about a guy in Vietnam who ate one and got deathly ill, the first thing doctors asked him is if he peeled the apple first. He didn't. I often wonder how much of all that street produce is organic and how much is awash in pesticides.

There's no way on earth I'd ever stay in a hostel in Thailand, hotels are cheap. I stayed in hostels when I explored my own country because it's expensive here, but never again 😊
I wasn't keen on Bangkok at first but I don't mind it now, although I'd never live there, nowhere beats Chiang Mai.

"Cream-crackered" is Cockney Rhyming Slang for "knackered" or tired, so if someone's feeling "cream-crackered," they're probably in need of a nap. . Did ya take a Nappy Nap , Wayne ?😆
