It's funny because invisible already has very simplistic art-style and cut a lot of corners for animation and yet they take a lot of time to make a new season.
They could have easily used it to throw it in people's faces about how long it takes to make the seasons but I love that it was just for the goofy meta joke.
Kinda ironic that they made a joke about how animation cutting corner (which is pretty standard in the animation industry), but the show did a bad job at cutting corner that make the show looks pretty bad in some scenes, like just a literal JPG of a character being dragged across the background.

Disclaimer: I'm aware this is an adaptated joke from the comics. And yet despite the supposed time saving the episodes still come out late and the fight scenes still look mid at absolute best.
This scene encapsulates the TV show as a whole - it lengthens some things at the expense of others, and it can do some different things than the comic did, adapting to fit and even showcase the strengths of the new medium.

Keep in mind, Invincible is a professional production and animators on shows like this often have to take shortcuts like the ones demonstrated in this scene in order to make deadlines. Invincible’s animation is still leagues better than most western shows. However, taking a 6 month break in the middle of the season is a result of poor planning on the producers’ part. Clearly, they set their deadlines too early.

This scene aged interestingly. It was just revealed Invincible was being animated in North Korea. Not sure about their involvement in season 2 but season 3 is being animated by them..

this is a redoing of the bit in the comics where the artist who Mark meets talks about reusing the same images during conversations to fill up pages easier and then that exact technique is used for that conversation
@@Uh-ll4ri That bit works with the comics because it's a harmless way to show how comics take a long time while doing shortcuts. However, it doesn't work well here because the animation quality is on the same low/lazy quality with every episode, so it isn't funny, more so ironic of how they're poking on how lazy they are

The Viltrumite punch-up in S2E4 has so many still shots, but it quickly switches between shots and has bombastic sound effects to convey impact
They cut corners by having someone in North Korea animate it
Even in it's low moments, i never lose faith in this show and this awareness, this right here is why. They think at least 3 steps ahead and catch you in the exact reaction you're having watching the scene. When peoppe do 4th wall that well, RESPECT
