  • We do a first-look review on the new 992 Porsche 911 GT3RS. Most of the video explains the engineering and science behind one of the best sports cars of this generation. We detail the passion behind the car and how it translates to the driving experience. While price is usually an issue in the current market, the bigger question is, what is a future classic worth?

    Hey, advertisers, videos with a lot of technical detail attract an audience that is more highly educated, probably wealthier, and most likely to actually want to buy this car. Porsche gives this channel a lot of access, other manufacturers should follow suit.

    Savagegeese should have 1.6M viewers. I'm not the first to say this but this channel is just sublime. It used to just be technically amazing, then it was great filming and now they have earned the respect and access of Porsche factory engineers, drivers and management. What an amazing accomplishment by these guys. Bravo.

      Unfortunately they're a bit niche in the sense that they're very good at technical details. Like how if you suck at math some of 'engineering explained' might be too much for you, or if you dont know jack about cameras 'iPhonedo' might be too much, or if you dont know about processors and boards 'De8auer' might be too much. etc etc.
      The average joe watches dougdemuro, or thestraightpipes or throttlehouse (i think they've surpassed the former in quality/entertainment imo), or the visual-porn that is hagerty's editing with Camisa, but I always appreciate and respect the finer details savagegeese brings, not many talk engineering down to the bolts, cuz at the end of the day, you want to know that if you own it, will it break down on you? They do deserve triple the subs but that's not how youtube works unfortunately, one car guy is doing countdown vids despite disliking them because algorithm.

      @@Rob165xI don’t see how TH has surpassed TSP at all, they’ve got totally different feels from what I’ve seen and the only thing common is the Canadian factor lol. TSP feels like two regular guys, almost like Mark and Jack, who happen to be into cars, and TH feels like two professional hosts who happen to be into cars.
      TH feels like less genuine to me but I guess it’s because they have to maintain the Top Gear-lite persona of their channel. I do think they have entertaining 3-way comparisons and drag races though, definitely a redeeming factor

    this GT3RS is something that truly represents the spirit of original RS.
    - no cares for a normal human, no luggage space, only for speed
    - no cares if you can't drive, the limit on this car is high for real drivers
    - no cares for top speed, only for track purpose
    i think most owners of this car will greatly regret buying it, and 5% of buyers will only actually like it

    • @JohnFromAccounting
      @JohnFromAccounting ปีที่แล้ว +17

      Most buyers of expensive cars put them into a garage and never drive them. This is true of most Ferraris, most supercars, most historically important cars. Porsche knows their customers and they know what percentage will drive the RS on track. A lot of buyers are racing drivers.

      Good luck driving to a racetrack for a weekend in a 3RS with a passenger, and getting back. Highly recommend actually doing this and than shouting nonsense.

    "...this car is about feeling..." He's so right. The cars specs don't really matter. What matters is 'how does a car make you feel?' I drive a lowly 2007 Boxster 2.7 - an often maligned car amongst Porsche purists. But every time I drive it (on both city and fast backroad driving) it makes me smile. It makes me feel good. Isn't that what it's all about...

I also appreciate the fact that Mark and Jack are open about their bias with certain brands or cars. Not a lot of reviewers do that either (I can call out a few YTers that annoy me to death).
    A little story, I'm pretty well connected with my Porsche dealer and got the chance to drive both a 992 GT3 and GT4RS to their garage... in middle of Downtown LA rush hour traffic. Which gave me a very good idea of how street-able these cars are and there is no question how rough the 4RS is for regular driving but it was exciting even on low speed due to the engine and intake behind your head. 992 GT3, in comparison was comfortable but the engine was noticeably muted and a bit boring actually on low RPMs.
    With the amount of customizing ability for the 992 GT3RS, you can definitely make the car easier to deal with for regular driving, easing up the compression for the suspension. That's kind of nice.

    Hope you'll be able to drive a Lotus Emira if you haven't already. Would love to know how the Emira stacks up against a similarly priced 718 and low price 911. (I only throw in the 911 because of the rear bias weight distribution).

    • @JohnFromAccounting
      @JohnFromAccounting ปีที่แล้ว +8

      There's an enormous support network for Porsche and a strong aftermarket. I would be concerned about Lotus ownership outside of the UK.

      @John from Accounting thankfully I have a dealership near me. So not too much worry there. And as far as aftermarket, I hesitate to say I would want to modify either a Porsche or a Lotus at all. I have a Focus RS for the mod addiction instead. And might some day soon get into motorcycles....

    • @nateisright
      @nateisright ปีที่แล้ว

      Give Lotus a year or two to iron out the kinks. Harry Metcalfe (of EVO) has an Emira and loves it, but notes there have been a few bugs.
      The 718 is the best handling car I’ve ever driven, but it is expensive for what it is. Porsches are great, but they have quirks and flaws just like any car. You are paying for the capability and engineering. You can feel the engineering in a Porsche and that’s why I love them.

      Great video!
      I once had a Mustang with stiff, racy suspension and wide, sticky tires. Passengers got sick all the time. Something about the quick change of direction isn’t so comfortable for the passenger. Who knew?!

  • @ZackNakazora1

    The audio clarity driving the car around the track is phenomenal. The car itself is bananas. It's a car geeks dream to get a green lit project. Earlier you said you asked the engineers why you are there at a press launch for the car? The answer is mundane : it's cause Porsche are car people. And what do all car people want outside of drive their cars? Want to be around others who can appreciate their cars. You and a few select other reviewers have the moxie and... Ability to appreciate the level this car exists at. It's a high high honor. This car will be a dream and likely never realized. But I can live it through you and types like Randy Pobst. Thank you Mark and Jack and the Savage geese team and thank you, Porsche, for allowing us the swansong of ultimate untainted ICE motoring enthusia!

    Porsche's drive to perfect their art pieces for the right purpose is what always separate them from others. They're the definition of driver's pleasure. They will just keep improving until they cannot produce them anymore. There might be a 911 GT3RS that will sell for millions of dollars in the future and I'm not gonna be surprised. My God I want one so much.

    Thanks for the great video. I like that during the driving segments and the talking you can really see how amazing this car is. You guys seemed so happy through the video and it makes me really want to be able to experience this kind of stuff! Hopefully one day I may be able to drive a car like this! Probably a huge step up from my 2004 Boxster S 550 Spyder. Would be nice to see where it has all gone in 20 years if I ever get to try a newer 911 or Boxster.
