Thank you for great video.. I have question do you know the value of smd capstors that tack place where cobra sata mode installed on Ps3 motherbord.? I have Ps3 slim cech a3006. I have cobra ode chip not working. So my Ps3 working now but the driver doesn't read DVD because capstors are removed
I've got an A01 that I had a load of tants blow on, probably for the same reason of not jumping or a short from my poor soldering. I replaced my caps again, jumped properly, and took good care in my soldering. Now when I attempt to power on the console I get a solid red light on standby, hit the power button, get a beep, then no power. The power will stay completely off for a while until the red light will finally come back and I can try again, issue repeats. I tested the PSU on my main A01 and it tested good. Fuses look and test good, and the only other visual evidence of damage I can see is some charring by a set of resistors near the DRAM circuitry, but there is a mirror of this circuit in good shape and all resistance values appear identical. Any idea what I should look out for next?
Honestly, it could be anything. Just go through the usual electronics repair steps. Visual inspection, test, meter things out. Check things on the same power line as the blown tantalums, etc.

Hello, what are the actual tantalum replacements used here? I don't see a link in description and I cannot seem to find these more short and square looking units online !
www.aliexpress.com/item/1005001803924849.html 220uf 6.3V are the ones I used. I tested each one using an ESR meter as well to be sure they were up to the job before installing them.
I got a backwards compatible fat PS3 throwing error core 3001 from syscon which is 12v rail fail but tested power supply and it's good. Could it be these capacitors?
It doesn't matter which side. The boards share the same rail. As long as you jump it with sufficient gauge of wire. With that said though, chances are if it's a YLOD it'll be a 3034 error. I'd suggest using a TTL adapter to read the syscon error codes before just swapping caps.
@@NewRetroRepair oh... Shot... I have had 2 PS3 60 GB models, ps/PS2 playback with the NEC taken ofd for the last 6 years... Idk why... But I have that urge to finally move forward on those repairs 😂
Hi! Why you put on one side 4 capacitors and on the other side 5 pieces? And why you jumped them with the upper lines? You don’t have any capacitors here. No offence, I’m just courious abot this topic :)
Well done on the repair. Knew you would fix it in the end.
thick wire is always good :) TheCod3r's bot says you're a legend but I think this PS3 is also a legend!
The promising moments and now it works 😁 but its funny how it went bang 😂
Nice work, congrats on completing the repair successfully !
Thanks Micro!
Oh wow you actually got it to work thats great! So the power supply was still good? Nice fix man!

I have the same problem. Can you help? Thanks

Which capacitors have you used please? - i mean smd dimensions and capacitance
So, just 2 jumper wires on CPU/rsx side?

Ok, gotcha. I found your stream and I’ve seen that you replaced all Tokins ;) Now this jumper cable makes sense.
Could you kindly update us on the longevity of this fix? Thanks
It's still working so far! YMMV depending on why the console failed though of course.
@@NewRetroRepair tar muchly.
my ps3 was delided capacitors change work for two years now ylod again can thé capacitors fail again
@@carlondouglas5741 Unlikely, you would need to read the error codes to see where the fault is.
I replace nec token with 470.. The yellow lite of death still com
Try diagnosing the fault rather than blindly swapping parts. Google "PS3 Syscon Reader". Do some reading. That should help.
Great fix mate
gr8 fix!
Try a heavy game like gt6 or the last of us to see if the console can stay on for a good period of time
Can I PM you, new retro repair?
Of course! My discord is linked in the description as is my email. Feel free to use either
@@NewRetroRepair Awesome! I’ll message soon. Thank you 😁
