    I own one.
These kinds of candle-flame lanterns are very low light but insanely low fuel expenditure.
If its night time and your eyes have adjusted, this trickle flame will light up the inside of your tent like a Christmas tree.
If it is dark, and your eyesight has adjusted, and there is not some asshole wondering around camp with poor light discipline, blinding everyone with his showboat 10,000 lumens Olight ....these are golden.
Camp with people who are not assholes.... let your eyes adjust to the dark ... and these candle lamps use so little fuel that you will never be able to measure it. Seriously I tested one of these and it used so little fuel over an hour that I couldnt measure it on the scales.

Thanks for sharing your experience with the mini flame. I was pretty surprised as well at the low fuel consumption and overall utility. I approached it as a novelty but quickly realized it had earned its keep in my regular camping kit. Agree, with you on lighting decorum. Wish some were more thoughtful of other campers, though I am seeing more modest lighting systems and a lot more red beams than even a few years ago. Thanks for sharing and happy camping!

Yes! We’ve used it with several different brands with negligible difference in performance. Happy camping!

Can you use indoors if power went out in winter? I mean we used Kerosene heaters long ago and didn't die😊

Hi kevinslobody! Snow Peak designs and recommends these for outdoor use only and we echo that sentiment. The CO and other exhaust is one issue, but also just the use of detachable fuel bottles, seals that wear over time or get introduced to debris, etc. there's just a lot that can go wrong indoors or inside a tent. We will say that the fuel consumption and output is very low on the mini flame so of all stoves and lanterns out there it probably has one of the lower exhaust quotients. Certainly it would work well for emergency scenarios where you have an outdoor porch/patio or other well ventilated area in which to use it as a light source or ambience. I think in your scenario an inexpensive LED lantern or headlamp would be a better indoor emergency alternative. Hope this helps and happy camping!

But why? Sucking down isobutane for something that can be accomplished with a candle just seems absurd to me. I get that it could be a thing if you're car camping or something (although why not take a proper lantern)... I mean, I'd never dissuade anyone from buying what they want, but IMO a UCO single candle lantern would be far more useful (and it will keep condensation out of your tent without a tipping hazard caused by liquid fuel running out into a high flame).

Thanks for your comment, Danger Pudge. Sounds like you have a great candle system in place already, and that's definitely the most simple, low $, and one of the best UL lighting options. Can't go wrong with wax and wick. The mini flame is just a nice accessory for those who want one, gifting one, or are looking for a new lighting option. I was wary at first too, but taken by it after using and testing it on a number of campouts. The "why" for me is having a low light, low flame option, ambience of flame, and the ability to really control and dial in the light output (sometimes I want it as low as possible, and sometimes very bright). It's a gadget, not a necessity by any means, but a cool well designed option for those want to give it a try. Candles/candle lanterns have been a tried and true source of camping light and ambience for ages, and glad they are working so well for you! With either route, we don't recommend using any flame (candle, stove, or the mini flame) inside of a tent because modern tents are so flammable and as you point out, the risk of moisture and CO output. Headlamps and LED's are def. the safer way to go inside. Thanks again for sharing and happy camping!

You need to add a marshmallow challenge with a your stoves, torches etc. Boiling an light are important but flaming gooey sugar bombs are the skunks pajamas.

Sorry but this is just, buy me, you need another thing to buy. It produces a candle flame tip in a glass tube. So would a candle and a glass chimney....and it won't use my 100g butane fuel I use to cook. I also can't have light when I cook if this is the only candle lantern....unless I tote another butane can....which is much bigger than a wax or oil bottle candle.
Now the isobutane mantle lantern does make a lot of light, but draws down my cook fuel.
Ive found candles and my electric headlight to be much more ergonomic and pack efficient.

Hi S Tho, thanks for your note and perspective. It's definitely not something we recommend for everybody, and we deem it a luxury item for sure. Your set up with candle and globe + headlamp is tried and true as well as light and cost effective. We've really enjoyed using the Mini Flame and are really impressed with the design and craftsmanship and it's been really popular across our audience for camp and at home. It's definitely more of an additive piece to your kit, rather than something that will replace other core gear or serve multifunctions. We generally think of it as a replacement for my fire pit or campfire, rather than replacement for my primary lighting source, and we always bring dedicated fuel for my stove and extra/old canisters for the mini flame. Thanks for reaching out and sharing your set up and expertise. Happy Camping!

Hi William, thanks for your comment. Definitely, candles are the tried and true backcountry light source (for thousands of years!). Light, reliable, and oh, that warm glow.
The mini flame is just a nice piece of luxury camp kit, and it is nice to be able to dial your flame waaaaay down or go super bright all with the same "candle". It sounds like you already have a great system that works for you and thanks for sharing your system with us. Happy camping!

... what pointless stuff you should not still carry around with you. Everyone today has their LED lamp that can be safely charged in the sun with a solar cell. But you could use this propane-candle as your grave candle ?

    • @CirqRentals
      @CirqRentals  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Hi sudo root, you're right this is definitely not one of the ten essentials, and certainly not a must have. LED headlamps & lanterns, especially those that can be charged in the field are a much better choice for a primary light source and part of your 10 essentials kit. We LOVE them too! We don't recommend anyone use this or any flame, candle, stove, etc. inside a tent or shelter. Tents are way too flammable and the CO is too dangerous to risk. We're typically using the mini-flame lantern as a substitute for a campfire at times or areas where traditional wood campfires are prohibited. It's not a must have but it does add a nice warm ambience to your outdoor evening. Thanks for you comment and happy camping!
