    Great video! A couple things I would suggest is spraying each connector with a good penetrating oil like PB Blaster to lubricate, & break up any corrosion. The other being as you place the disconnect tool in position with one hand push the hose towards the filter to take pressure off of the fitting, & then press the disconnect tool into the fitting. Between the lubrication, & removing the tension from the coupler it should make removal a bit easier. These connectors can be rather stubborn so take a deep breath, spray it with more penetrating oil, try wiggling both connectors to help draw the penetrating oil in, & break up any corrosion, & ensure you are using the proper size disconnect tool.

    Very good information and detail on exactly how to remove the fuel filter. I had no luck at all with the plastic Lisle removal tools. After 30 minutes, I went to the store to buy the metal fuel line disconnect tool. With that, it only took me a few minutes to get the back and front removed.

      Thank you for the comment. I have found that sometimes I have more success with the plastic removal tools and other times I can only get it with the metal tool.

    Always relieve pressure in lines before hand and turn key to acc first to prime before starting.

    Thanks for the video...my safety clamps ..the one on the engine side was a pain the filter housing was too close had to modify it to get it off then of course the compression quick connectors always a pain this is the 4 filter for me and I dread doing it simply because you have to fight the fuel lines .. my old filter brown gas poured out...I was losing power on hills and towing in 2nd gear...5.4l is a good engine but let's face it low on torque and hp so gearing is key...my boat is 4k lbs an old 96 21ft w a 350 in it...but it's paid for like my old supercrew ...good luck this is a pain in azz job

    Hi Jon, I watched your video exclusively for the fuel filter replacement. It turned out perfect, had no problems and was able to use the one recommended tool for removing the hose connections on both ends without hassle! Thanks a bunch for the instructional vid and I will be tackling some other projects with your help! Thanks again Jon, your new subscriber Chris.

    • @moose2934

    Would relieving the pressure in the fuel system via the Schroeder valve on the fuel rail help reduce the mess made by the gas?

    • @InsaneOil

      The repair manual specifies performing the "fuel pressure gauge bleeding method" or the "inertia switch method."

      The people that had it before me didn't take care of it so been spaying cb blaster on the bolts and nuts to hopefully break lose so I can get it out and a new one in.

      Maybe the truck was sitting all night and he didn't have to ,( it's what I do) the pressure goes down on its own, that's why nothing pissed out when he disconnected the lines. Should remove the gas cap to lower the pressure from the gas tank too.

    • @InsaneOil
      @InsaneOil  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, it is always best to first relieve the fuel pressure. You can do that by using a special fuel pressure gauge with a bleed-off valve or to disable the fuel pump using the inertia switch located behind the passenger's side kick panel.
