      Eventhough the factory pan is the same, i wonder if this one works on a 8hp45. As in the hole in the box the oriing seals on is more shallow on a 45. So it works for some boxes but not others.

      @@Mp-jw1qg my guess is the hp70 hole is deeper. more concave maybe. The OEM pan is larger no doubt. The URO one should match the OEM pan at the end of the day. But maybe not as much of a problem on the 45 which is what it got tested on maybe?

    It is great to see you have sorted out the issues with the 8HP Andrew. It was a very quick engine run in with only 1 hr of running. Everything appears to be going well with both engine and transmission. Those gear shifts are very fast and should improve your times once the engine has a few more kms on it. Appears traction will be a major issue with that diff ratio.

    • @ZeroTo60Tube
      @ZeroTo60Tube  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      hahaha, did you want to run your engine in too :P I know this isn't the right way. But hey it is what it is. Everything about the motor build is not the right way.... I am definitely looking forward to playing with it some more. So far at 100kmh in auto the car isnt screaming, i think the diff will be ok. But 3rd is more like what 2nd is like with the 6hp. Somewhere between 2nd and 3rd on the dct car. Should be ok. Super impressed with the shift, that first one in this video, while it was spinning was an eye opener. I didnt feel the shift at all through the seat. It did not unsettle the car at all. Just required a bit more steering angle input.

    @Andrew That just goes to show the difference, not only in parts but the overall pressure that is used to properly operate the transmission. If anything if would have been nice to check the transmission pressures using “xHP”. Would have made for great research. As always 🍻

    • @ZeroTo60Tube
      @ZeroTo60Tube  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      xHP can not actually check pressure either, it estimates it. There are no pressure sensors in the box. It just estimates pressure based on how the output shaft moves in relation to the input shaft. The TCUs both stock and lamik, are programmed to calculate these values. Just like how the DME calculates torque, it doesnt know the actual torque, it just estimates it based on certain available data. There's really not many electronics in the boxes at all.

      N54s make some funny sounds at times. This motor with original pistons and rods was in my e92 and it had a strange tick every now and again, which i thought was a lifter or something. I feel like i heard it last week. However its quietened up after these run in miles. My first bit of advice with strange engine ticks, especially if the motor has a few miles on it. Get some thicker oil in it. My e92 OG motor i ran on the recommended 5w30. Since then i have moved to 10w60 on any motor i am giving a hard time. This one currently has 10w50. However the Castrol 10w60, i swear makes the n54s run quiet. There may be other side effects such as bearing clearance issues so keep that in mind, but i like the quiet valve train personally. Keep in mind, we are a warm climate. Denmark you might not need to go so thick. But try one step up from you currently run next oil change and see if it quietens up. Also grab yourself a cheap automotive stethoscope and try and narrow down if the noises are coming from the head, block etc.

    I seem to remember adam LZ putting an 8hp in his mustang with a barra in it and cooking it with a transmission controller (it may have been a lamik as well) and I forget extactly what his issue was (or what the root cause was) but he ended up cooking the 8hp. But to be fair he was thrashing the car when the trans wasn't happy haha. There could be some learnings in watchinf his videos on the barra mustang? Also you may want to change the filter out in a couple thousand km because the debris will build up quickly and it kills solenoids. P.S I'm not saying it's anything to do with lamiks controller causing the issue - but just saying because it was a similar setup it could be helpful to compare.
