    I remember the days of Hot 4’s Magazine back in the 90’s when I had an MR2 GT Turbo, and so many cars had equal length manifolds. It is an art form! This channel just keeps getting better. Loving the content and your passion!👍🏻

    So long as welds get the right penetration and aren't porous or contaminated, they're fine - they looked neat enough. People who have never even seen a welder irl can have exacting opinions about what 'good' is. Worst case, take some Scotchbrite to it and polish them up, they'll look 'cleaner'. Can't wait to hear it go down the road though, that exhaust note man, divine!

    What a piece of kit all that all is, slightly more expensive than the Walton motorsport kit here in the uk! But the amount of stuff that you get for your money from the kit you’ve shown is pretty good to be honest! The welding looks good and he’s purged everything properly to with full penetration from what I could see! He’s also used standard thickness manifold plates which is good as the 10mm thick ones cause issues, I’ve looked a lot into building my own as I am a welder fabricator/pipe fitter and that equal length manifold sounds awesome! Proper 2jz sounds!

    Finding equal length manifolds for BMWs is like searching for a unicorn. It's upsetting.
    That engineer has some great connections.
    Fyi... CES wants 10k usd for their 1000hp precision, N54 single turbo kit.
    I legit want to make this kit, fit my N55! That sounds so perfect.

    Really cool and well thought-out turbo kit!! Can't wait to see the results. I'm running a DocRace top mount kit myself and it would be cool to compare the two because so many people are already running the DR kit.

    I have been watching this channel for quite some time now, Definitely my favorite channel on TH-cam. I don't understand why the subscriber count is so low still? The content is so damn good. Keep up the good work man, I can't wait to see the build progress of this kit and the sound it's going to make.
    Is the kit 5k USD without the turbo? If so, how much is the turbo setting you back? I want this kit for my Z4 at some point!

      Hey man, i think our sub count and views are simply a reflection of real content, not some muppet who can change a wheel making click bait titles about things they dont have a clue about. Anyway rant over. So yes the kit is a million dollars with out the turbo or wastegates. However it leaves you open to china or genuine options. I have gone cheap turbo $1000 and expensive wastegates. Also Adam who made this kit, just purchased a crash z4is for development.

    Going top mount 6766 On3 best decision I made on my 335i. Now it’s going in my N54/8hp70 E70 Swap. 1st in the world. You and the guys at turbo lamik are the best keep it up

      Absolutely! Something i think a lot of the people that throw thier first turbo together dont realise. Like me when i turbocharged my ford explorer back in to 2006..... one small fire is ok right? haha

      I find it odd that the downpipe didn't get the same coating that the manifold got, but heat wrap was included to address that. They coated the coolant pipe and oil drain fitting, but not the dp?

      @@xpo186 The down pipe wont get anywhere near as hot as the manifold. You have to remember the turbo works by restricting the exhaust gases as they leave the manifold, its like putting your thumb over the end of a hose pipe. So heat and pressure builds up in the manifold which is why they get so hot. It is the hottest part of the turbo system. Once the gas exits the turbo, it is cooling from that point onwards. The zirconia coating is very expensive and considering how close the manifold gets to the coolant pipe and it makes sense to pay for the coating in that area to reduce the heat transfer from the manifold to the cooling system. However the downpipe will (should) be fine with normal heat wrap.

      @@ZeroTo60Tube @Zero To 60 Thanks for the explanation. I'm not really convinced that the dp temps are that much different from the manifold though, considering proximity to the manifold. Also, I thought that a turbo works by introducing as little restriction as possible in order to facilitate the exit of exhaust gases, thus spooling the turbine.
      The exhaust wrap will be effective, it's a proven method of managing high temperatures in many other top mount st kits (no argument there). But for 5000 euro, I find it to be an odd decision for cost savings. To put it another way, if I were looking to spend that amount of coin on this kit (which is absolutely amazing), I would opt for the dp to be coated as well.

    Any updates on this car? Is it still running? Are you happy with the ST setup or is the car now a pain to drive like a lot of 335i guys say? I’m really interested in going single, but if the car is no longer enjoyable to go for a quick drive I have no interest in making the car any less enjoyable. To be honest I’m already at the point where I’d like to sell it and get an F series and keep the build basic

    Impressive. I guess the ebay turbos have done their job by now showing what can be done on a budget. This is exciting! So many ways to build the N54 these days. It does bring up a few questions I guess about ohhrly and I'm going to have to look for the first car you featured on the channel now too. LOL. Fun. So much to coming up on your channel! Loving it!

      Dont worry, my 17t setup will live on, on another car in the future. I just need to find a place to live, then a 320 wagon with blown motor. I have the full drive train from wrecks ready to go in. Just been waiting on the turbo syetem. Have i mentioned how committed i am to this bloody motor.

    Andrew I remember from many years ago that you sell tyres as part of your business. I have a 2019 Ford Mustang and I am running Michelin Pilot Sport 4sand they are good. Can you recommend an alternative that is nice and sticky? Front is 285/35x20” and rear is 305/30x20” and an approximate price. Thanks ever so much.

    How does the single compare to the flowmax + turbos? I'm on the fence myself...im leaning towards the flowmax + turbos but the single is tempting. What are your thoughts? Thanks!

      Flowmax+ won’t make as much top end as a big single. But for street driving you will be in boost more often. The catch is the single is a experience.

    Another super good 38mm wastegate option are GFB. Run then on a couple customer cars and run ther bov on my car love it.

    The very first single kit I know of is the one I have on my car. It’s the FFTEC and it was $9000.

      Zero To 60 , it had fitment issues. It touched the brake line and AC line. Of course there isn’t much room. It lasted about a year with header wrap. Adding wrap made the clearance almost nothing. I wrapped the lines as well.
      One day after work, I headed from work to an Aldi and as soon as I shut down the car 💥 💨.
      I was lucky the car didn’t catch fire as all the oil from the AC charge , discharged on the hot manifold .
      I had a custom line made to divert the AC further away.
      Some people had issues with the O2 sensors being mounted up top. Some say it burns up easier. I had the ADV sensors and they have been working well for me.
      The turbo is bottom mount and the GTX3076R is a tight fit below. The turbine housing is about 1/16” away from the aluminum water jacket.
      Downpipe is 3” but hits the firewall metal heat shields. It also wasn’t long enough to reach the dual stock exhaust flanges so modifications were needed.
      Bottom mount is hard to fit a large air filter.
      After years of hard pulls and what not, it’s still going but I had to change out a leaking AN-6 water line to the turbo. Not much space .
      I never removed my secondary cats so I’m unsure if it will sound much like the video kit you have but I can say that what you posted sounded really good. So kudos 👏 to that person who fabbed that for you.

    Maybe consider running a turbo oil feed filter on some these cars exspecially the ones with expensive turbos, running a bov and upgrading to a full 3" exhaust?

      I think has made a small change to the mani which will allow a different dump pipe, but the LHD kit is very similar.

    Guys, ive been wishing i went single turbo ever since i bought my 17ts and replaced the internals with billet and the thrust bearings etc. I might actually sell off the turbos, vargas outlets, vrsf inlets and vrsf catless DPS and buy this or something similar. im currently making 397rwkw with my build on e40 on 23psi but i have index 12s, helix, 2nd lpfp, coils on the way and if i dont hit 450rwkw ill buy this or something close to it (its hard cause im in Vic so i cant just drive into simply tuning =[ lol ) and sell all my stuff 100% ive been seeing too many single turbo n54 videos and i have so many regrets, 1 blown engine later, ive spent almost 25k without including the price of the car and damn i could of built a monster!!!! Owell, first time you do something no matter how much research and reviews you look at you always have regrets!

      are upgraded twins blowing engines because of too much torque in low RPMs? I'm still stock turbos but trying to consider which direction to go. Was looking at the DAW Stage 2+ hybrids.

      This is a very true and heartfelt comment. Man the journey is painful sometimes. I’m at about 40k in mods on my e92. It never ends. Make sure you take the time to enjoy what it is now.

      @@racker5108 I believe i had a faulty injector which was leaking and caused detonation in cyl 4, The mechanic i bought the new motor from with installation said he would open my motor and tell me exactly what happened but all he did was text "cracked piston and piston rings" and nothing else. I did have MHD shift bog delete and xhp drag mode active and was hitting rev limiter in 3rd and 4th gear so not sure. Not the best archeology on my part but i just was happy to give up my blown engine and $3300 for a 128k km motor installed with warranty and didnt ask too many questions and he threw in a free pos injector for cyl 4. I did just spend about 4-5k buying the last of my purchases aswell as m3 arms and an LSD and i think im done until i do what the boys did and go budget built motor and sell off all the twins gear and components and single it up.

I did go 17t's because of you guys primarily and actually looked for an e90 with wastegate rattle and snagged one for $7500. Came with 240k kms but at this point ive replaced everything lol. Lifes just too short tho brother, we have to enjoy the time we have and unfortunately for us and our families it's cars but at least we can get the kids and family involved on race day! haha. Big props guys, keep it up! Im never planning to sell because of the $$ spent and i bet you arent either but i will say everybody looking in amazement and asking you questions when you make as much power as we do does feel awesome!

      @@racker5108 pull timing under 4k rpm on big hybrids. I can show you 2 built motors with spun bearings and bent rods because i had 14 degrees timing at 24 psi on full e85. you can pull a few degrees of timing but ultimately, get the most of the hybrids while you can, they never last.

    All cool but doing equal length does nothing to spool. My G35-900 makes 20psi at 3000rpm in a 1.06 housing on my DG single kit, testing it also did 36psi at 3800 but that's to high of pressure only flowing around 60lb/min so 28psi is the current boost making 806awhp with 8° timing

      Can you clarify that? You are saying a proper designed equal length twin scroll manifold will not spool faster than a non equal length? Also would love to see your logs and some more info on your setup. You are spooling faster than 17ts. My 17ts cant make 20psi at 3000rpm with out brake boosting.

Anyways my point is that once there's pressure, exhaust pulsing doesn't matter has much in a twin scroll manifold. The pulses are already spaced far enough apart that any gains are very very small 1% or less which is very unnoticeable.

      From seeing his logs it spools early af with the 3582 twin scroll, but that’s the point of this type of mani. Expecting a bit more lag on my setup. My concern is top end power.

    Would you recommend buying 17ts that come with rebuild kit for $350 at the door? There’s quite a few of “slightly used” China turbos for sub 500

      Absolutely not. New or dont bother.I I have seen viv turbos which have blown and they will generally damage the housing. When you rebuild them, they wont spool like a new set. You will have a ultra laggy set of china turbos. However this is how viv do most of the warranty. They send people the parts to do a cheap repair.

      @@VincentNguyens yes absolutely. however calculating tube length and diameter is key, i have heard a few "equal length" systems on N54 but they are not made with this much effort and they dont sound the same. This is with 6 or 7 mm per cyl. This would work on N55 but I have a feeling valve size is different on the B58.

      @@ZeroTo60Tube tell him i have a cnc ported n53 head, inconel valves, ferrea springs, 299/284 +11mm cams. the n53 head has larger exhaust ports, larger valves and just flows a bunch more air than the n54. if he can make me a custom manifold tuned for the head i would pay him his weight in gold, or gasoline (same price right now)

    What’s your opinion on a air to water cooling system on the N54? Seen a lot of progress recently I’m looking to try fitting one from the M on mine.

      I personally don't like water to air. I know the S55s have it, but the fastest one in the world doesn't. Water to air is ok, but you will eventually encounter heat soak if you are making ok power. We could never run even the most efficient water to air system at our roll race events. Would be ok for drag racing if we ran an ice box and refilled the ice before each pass to cool the water system that way...... When you think of the heating and cooling as basically moving energy around. The extra time it takes to move that heat energy out of the car with a water to air system is where the efficiency goes out the window. This is when you are running the cars at 700+hp of course. Not so much of an issue at 500hp. That being said, please let me know how yours plays out. The amount of heat energy you are trying to manage will be a big factor and it may work really well for you.

      If your turbo selection is laggy, then air to water might solve your issue because it shortens the length from turbo to intake manifold by many feet. This was the purpose of BMWs S55 engine using it. But if you have a smaller single turbo then it should respond like twins.
      Like 0-60 mentioned, it’s a trade off for what you want to do. If you like drag racing it will be good. You can cool it off.

      Correct, no turbo or waste gates, which are bloody expensive. To be honest for the work thats gone in to the kit $5000 is cheap. Adam wont make these for long, he is doing it for the love at the moment. I know a few turbo kit business's and most places would charge double to produce this product as a viable business. That being said the $5000euro was still a huge price for me to stomach, when i am used to twin setups and cars in general that cost less.

      @@ZeroTo60Tube i swear i remember you talking about being on the limit with the power the 17t car was making? especially seeing as you're planning on putting a g35 1050 on lol looks like some upgraded clutch packs or new ones will be on order real soon, cant imagine a 200,000k trans is going to be happy with way more power than what was already a butt of power lol, either way mad props from getting the turbo kit, its completely changed my mind what i was going to do with my 335i as im rhd too and frankly cant find better a sounding, well thought out better equipped kit anywhere else. will defo be ordering one later this year.

      @@rdrezi1717 Im running a china turbo on this kit. I reckon ill still spend about $12kaud plus the fuel system and exhaust. You need to allow $15-$20k aud if you are stock turbo. A garrett turbo is $4500 alone.

    Lol Andrew, you're dead right, when we get to this age, these are the sorts of birthday presents we buy ourselves. Not sure when your birthday actually is, but Happy Birthday, mine is also coming up this week. The kit itself looks good, equal length manifolds are a big key to getting everything working in unison, something I am struggling with to get done for one of my projects to be fair, it's a bit of a lost art these days unfortunately. Every shop i know who makes similar, simply says it todays age, its not worth the effort. Not on a BMW. Different it was a Lambo or something, but people generally dont want to pay for the extra effort to make something like this.
