I love how you analyze the fit and designs; I have learned to pay attention to everything when I buy a pattern now. I used to trust these pattern companies thinking they know what they are doing 😊 and if my garment didn't end up fitting well I always blamed myself, doubting that I picked the wrong size or didn't do the fitting correctly, etc. Thank you!!
The sleeve patterns come with a very simple bodice, basically a bodice block. Put the shoulder seam on the pattern you want to add the sleeves to and adjust as needed. Very useful pattern ive found.
I saw the cropped jacket with satin lapels, beautiful. I live in COLD climate, so i am layering! Thank you for noticing and pointing it out. Love your presentation. Thanks!
Petite is strictly a hight class, we can be any girth but petites are 167 cm or shorter, standard is 167-175 cm and tall starts at 176+. However the curse of being petite (me 163) is that we can be shorter then normal sizes in specific areas, so I take 2 cm out between bust and shoulder, sleeves; -4 to -10 cm on crotch to waist (pattern depending) and additionally subtract above and below knee. Fit for Real People book has very good discussions of types of petites.
Using early Access in the UK and yes a lot of the sizing has changed and oh happy happy days, they are all available in A0. I bought the knit and woven capsule sets and the vintage coat. Knit B7012 woven set has three A0 with three pages in each, for the jacket you need all three but the others are split. B7013 knit set has the skirt and poloneck jumper on one file, trousers in another and the third is the jumper. Vintage coat B7020 is 4 A0 3 x 3 pages and a 1 page. So much better than the early A0 which were a single page in each but you'll still want a service which will combine them for you.
B7008 = Bombet, literally 😂 I like the cross front top, trust me when I say that for those of us women of a certain age having ventilation around the chest is life saving, I lived in cropped shrugs over T-shirts! I thrifted a rtw one to clone but then found three patterns of different variations and bought those plus I made the Unfettered Patterns one that has a cross back instead, is a freebie pattern best of all and I love it! For me this style has to be cropped or I agree that they look frumpy and I really don’t like the back situation of this new Butterick one, it just doesn’t work and looks weird especially seeing as it’s a knit.
Well the page says a size 8 has a 24 inch waist. I doubt if you can get smaller than that and still be an adult. So maybe they changed the numbers for the sizes? What they are calling a size 8 may actually be the size 0 or the 2 or 4 or the 6??
I don't think that sweatshirt "gown" is meant for outside your house 👀 we wore those in the 80's to stay inside on a cold day and scrunch your legs up inside while watching 5 channels on the TV 😅 and the outfit you dared anybody to make? I think that's a terrible throw back to 2006-7? You can't make fetch happen
The sleeve pattern comes with a bodice guide that you use as an overlay on any bodice of your choosing. You align the centers and waist.
So interesting! I'm going to have to pick one up and give it a try!

That is such a great point that we don't think about enough...

Ohhhhh. How interesting!
I love jacket version A of B7012. Very cute little cropped jacket.

I was speaking about the raglan coat pattern. Sorry, I should have had some coffee this morning..
haha! All good! I knew what you meant!

That's what I thought. I guess the petite patterns get you closer, but you still have to make adjustments.
Thank you!
lean into the granny of it all😂 my older aunt just gave me one.
Thank you
I bought one of those granny gowns this summer at goodwill for $5

Running to grab that free pattern now!
Did I miss the Know Me and McCall’s new collection videos?
No. I'm behind. Coming soon!
@ thanks!!
Can you imagine eating soup or chili wearing 7009? i must be able to eat and move in my clothes😊
That 7008 looks like an old 50’s design.

Right. That makes sense.

OMG .... youre so funny!
Sorry, Butterick. This collection is a dud for me. I didn’t see one thing I either liked or didn’t already have a similar pattern. Very disappointed!!
I like it but I am in my 50s.
