I would wear them too. I just can't figure out why they would choose the very smallest size range for some patterns and others they choose the high end? What is the reasoning behind those decisions?
I plan on getting a few of these. I've been eyeing the Chanel style jacket pattern. Not really a jacket person (except for hoodies 😂) but I would find places to wear that cute thing in the spring 🌼. My mom would probably like a black/gray tweed one for going out.
You should totally swap a hoodie for a chanel jacket! What a glow up! And you can wear the same jeans on the bottom. You'll look so pulled together in an instant!
That second "prom"dress in turquoise- maybe it's partly that the style and fabric combo looks too old for the model. That same dress on a fabulous older woman with some pearls might really be a knockout. But whatever the issue, you made me crack up trying to explain it😂.
Hmm. Maybe. I'm really bad a remembering stuff like that. But there was a moment when McCall's was really into crop tops. Remember all the photo shoots at Coney Island? Maybe sometime around then? Or were you thinking an indie pattern?
As far as the New Look budget/cost choices, I always feel like they aim to be really basic and maybe try to be more "accessible". They recycle other brand's stuff, limit their size range, drop a few of the views from the originals, and jam it all into one package. All kind of annoying choices for us, but they are pretty clear they aren't trying to be Vogue. 😅
They already had Homecoming in October. Also on the 4 piece N6785 with the dress you ike, they don't even have the correct purse with it. That is not the purse in the pattern.
New Look has some classic designs and I really like the price of the patterns. I liked the first jacket, but then the back is just ugh. It needs shape and design. Most of all detail. There's just no interest. It looks frumpy. About the pattern sizing, one of the biggest reasons I took up sewing is because I was tired of going shopping, finding a cute outfit, but then my size is all sold out and they aren't restocking, or the color I want isn't even produced, so I thought the ideal solution was sewing my own clothing, and now the pattern makers aren't even making my size available a lot of times. I am so frustrated with the industry. You can't buy it off the rack, and you can't make it either. If I were a more experienced sewist, I'd be able to draft and design my own patterns, but I've only made children's clothing and a few totebags, none of which required fitting or tailoring. I'm an average size person. Women's 14 in ready to wear, which is a medium or large. Thanks but no thanks, pattern makers.
You might have better luck with indie patterns! Love Notions would be a good place to start. They have a free one you can try to see what you think of their sizing.
Oh, this is TOTALLY my fault. They relelased these WEEKS ago and I'm just getting around to reviewing them! Still have Know Me Fall and then I'll do Vogue Winter. I'm so behind! :)
I've found a few of the older releases for other NewLooks. Haven't looked for this batch yet. Do you know any of the old pattern numbers for this batch? Also, do you remember if the sizing was more inclusive in the original release?
Were those original patterns out of print? If so, new to a whole bunch of people who just got started sewing or just found NL. I don't mine re-releasing because the price point is so good. And, if the patterns are good and still relevant, why not? Just my two cents.
@ I’m not sure about those specific ones but I know they’ve rereleased ones that were still in print before. I just know that this is what New Look has been doing with already existing patterns.
I don't understand the pattern sizing thing..... make sizes for everyone. I'm a size 4 to a 6, have been my whole life, I'm 65. Imagine wanting to make something and the smallest size is an 8 or 10.
I know!! I feel for everyone on the high end AND low end of the size range. It's definiately NOT size inclusive to only consider the larger sizes. That said though, NL is known for having the WORST size range of them all.
Thanks for your review .. some lovely designs here especially for the price point !
I totally agree!
I am over 50 and would definitely make the Chanel jacket, trench coat, button down shirt, and the flared skirt from this collection. ❤
I would wear them too. I just can't figure out why they would choose the very smallest size range for some patterns and others they choose the high end? What is the reasoning behind those decisions?

Most of these patterns are great to start building a wardrobe. Maybe not perfect, but most of the pieces are very wearable.
I think so too!
Havent we seen #6791 before? I'm certain we have

@@InsidetheHem same pattern company, or maybe one of the other in the big 4/5? I think they repeated the design. I dont see any difference at all.
They should make bigger sizes for the Chanel style jacket. I am disappointed.

If they made 6785 in my size i would make it. I have a 15 year old dress of that style i love that needs to be replaced
Its sooooo good!

I know! So weird. So sloppy! Why is no one paying attention?

No criticism of you, but New Look is a little late for Fall. Love your channel.

These are all rereleases of other patterns. That’s what New Look has become.

@ I haven’t looked at this collection yet but I know there are other people on TH-cam who point out which are repeats.

@@crafteed the sizing in more inclusive in the originals, along with more views, because they come from McCall’s or Simplicity.
