  • Are pre fabricated bumpers any good? I’ve always wanted test my skills and abilities with this fab kit so In this video I will be sharing how I built my $140 Amazon.com pre fab front bumper for my 1987 jeep Cherokee XJ.
With steel getting ridiculously overpriced, I bought this kit knowing I could save time and money not having to pick up and cut out the pieces of steel myself, So getting this kit made a-lot of sense.
The challenge is to not cut anything on the jeep but to integrate this bumper into the stock one in the most simplest way possible. With some basic Tools and fab skills I think we made it happen. Let me know your thoughts on how you would do it?
Here are some links for the materials used in this video. Thanks for watching. 🍻

I did the same thing except with the winch bucket. I made the wings different though. I did not like how the wings angled up so I changed up the wings. I took what was suppose to be the front of the wings and used those for the top. The 1" bottom section I made the front and I welded them so the 1" section was parallel to the bottom of the winch bucket. This made the wings sit low and blend with the bumper well.

It’s definitely a one of a kind bumper to say the least! It was a special request by the first owner of the jeep. Challenge was expected! Thanks for watching buddy 🍻

I've seen cheap bumpers with the recovery points torn off. That kit looks to be made of pretty thick steel. It came out looking good!

We shall see, this one could probably use a bit more reinforcement in some areas but for now 1/4” steel seems solid. Thanks for watching 🍻

@@ATEMOFFROAD Probably not ADR (Australian Design Rules) compliant for air bag models, however bumpers are generally overlooked anyway.

Nice work. You'll want to keep an eye on that fairlead, though. The steel from the eyelet of the rope and the hook can gouge the aluminum fairlead and lead to a failure of the synthetic rope.

Great tip something I’ll definitely keep an eye out for hate to ruin my rope on something simple as a burr. Once I get the d rings I’ll attach the clevis hook to there! 🍻

They are pretty stout bumpers if you can get one on eBay it’s worth the savings on steel and time to cut out the steel on your own. It’s a nice looking bumper for 140 to say the least hey 👋 🍻
