    Thanks for posting this. Pickled 30 jars of this last year with minor variations. My wife eats about a jar a week and has put in her order for 52 jars this year. My wife puts it on almost every dish.

      I hope you know that you just completely made my day. This comment truly blessed my heart. I'm so glad that you and your wife enjoyed them. This year's canning season may even hold some more different types of pickled pepper recipe videos for us. Pickling peppers has almost like become an addiction with me trying to come up with new flavors.

      @@artofcreationhomestead about the only thing I really did different was to add a bit of red bell pepper to give it a bit of color. I varied the amount of garlic between batches to see how much was too much. Three cloves is too much!!! We also canned a bunch of bread and butter pickles which turned out to be excellent. Really popular with the grandkids.

    I’m going to use this recipe for the dozen hot banana peppers I planted this year. Only change is adding pickle crisp (calcium chloride). that I notice is on Mt Olive banana peppers ingredients (it also has turmeric in it too). I notice other brands, the peppers are mushy and Mt Olive are crispy. Thanks for your video! Also a side note: don’t toss the brine after eating the peppers. Add hard boiled eggs in the leftover brine. Great pickled eggs!

    • @backwoodsbaby9729
      @backwoodsbaby9729 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@eliseandanna7023 oh please do way more research before canning then! (Research aka read the most recent recommendations)
      So the thing about storing with rings on is that the rings can hold a bad seal down long enough that it reseals. But you dont know that & eat it & get sick!
      The problem that i see most discussed is botulism which doesnt "look" bad but it can kill quickly. I think its probably pretty rare for it to actually form botulism, but i wouldn't want to risk that.
      (I tend to believe most people when they say ive done it for years xyz way & never gotten sick. But i think they have just been really lucky, especially as the decades stack up lol)
      Oh and a bad seal is caused many different ways. :)
      Dont let this scare you from canning! Its really fun & easy once you get the basic fundamentals down!

    • @artofcreationhomestead
      @artofcreationhomestead  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@eliseandanna7023 because the ring holds the lid down tight. If the lid comes unsealed the ring can make the lid re-seal which will cause bacteria to grow. A true air tight seal doesn't need the ring.

    Like your recipe for the peppers. I will try the tumeric. I started using some pickle crisp in mine to make them maintain crispness. Getting the hot part just right has been a little difficult. The seeds gone and use of sugar help a lot to reduce the heat. Even researching the Scoville score on different peppers was slighttly helpful. I plan to use some that have no heat and blend in half or less of the hot banana peppers to get the heat range I'm looking for.

The good thing about this recipe is that if you just have a few banana peppers you can just pour the brine of the pepper rings and put them in the refrigerator and you have delicious super crunch pepper rings in about 3 days without the water bath processing.
