    What to do with all of those banana peppers? Can them!
    Sweet banana peppers
    4 cloves of garlic
    4 chili peppers
    4 mason jars
    BRINE
    6 cups white vinegar
    2 cups water
    1 tablespoon sugar
    1 tablespoon and 1 teaspoon pickling salt
    Dash of Mrs. Wages Kosher Dill Pickle Mix
    Put 1 clove of garlic and 1 chili pepper in each mason jar. Stuff remaining space in each jar with sweet banana peppers. Boil brine ingredients until all is combined. Pour brine into mason jars, leaving 1/2 inch of space at the top. Seal each mason jar and boil in water for 10 min. Let jars sit for 4-5 weeks for best flavor.

    Ok this is my 1st time with my home grown banana peppers (proud of myself because I've never gardened before). My cayenne peppers aren't ready but my jalapeños are so Im gonna try that and I don't have that dill salt mix, but I do have dill so Im gonna try that instead ( may look up the ingredients from that package you used to see if i can create it myself. Thanks for the video, my husband loves banana peppers so I hope they turn out well. Im saving this video so I can let you know how it turns out 5 weeks from now

    You are so the Bob Ross of canning! You are so calm, quiet and informative. It's just nice to hear you talk. I'm curious... Have you had a stroke? That is, unless you don't want to share that info with us. I will be checking out a few more of your canning methods :^)

    Your banana pepper plants look fantastic! Have you had any problems with them rotting near the blossom ends? Mine have 😬

    is it okay to use regular salt instead of pickling salt?

    • @TimFarmerCK
      @TimFarmerCK  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Pickling salt is nothing but a type of salt, specifically used for canning and pickling. This salt is considered to be pure, as it does not contain additives, unlike the regular table salt. Pickling or canning salt does not contain iodine and anti-caking products, which makes it especially ideal for canning and for making pickles. This fine-grained salt gets easily dissolved in water to give a clear brine. However, when exposed to moisture, it tends to cake or form clumps. (from taste essence)

    Adding the one hot pepper is a great idea. I'll try it when I do my first ever canning experiment.

    Must the jars be fully submerged in the boiling water in order to seal it can they just be setting in the water ?

    • @TimFarmerCK
      @TimFarmerCK  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Check the directions to your canner. They are all different. There is usually a line to tell you how much water to put in.
