Many years ago I served in a British Army infantry battalion and as a regular routine it was RSM's parade Wednesday morning , Adajunt's parade Saturday morning and once a month CO's Parade during which we used to practice right and left forming as seen in this video. It takes a lot of practice to perform the manoeuvre to the standard performed by the Guards. It takes discipline and knowing exactly what to do and being on the ball. Well done the Guards!
So good to watch this spectacular parade and hear the music without the constant annoying commentary that accompanies and totally spoils the occasion when televised! Thank you!
Excellent video, thanks for posting Irene. I was in the stand behind Downing Street and we could only see a bit of the accident with the Life Guard's horse. I had no idea that it reared up and fell over, wow ! Glad that both the trooper and the horse were ok afterwards.
Just so that everyone is not misled, this is not the actual event, just the final, full rehearsal. The "real" Trooping the Colour takes place on 17th June - in 3 days time.
Hi The first Trooping the Colour which is reviewed by The Major General usually takes place two weeks before the actual Birthday Parade. ( 3rd June ) The second Trooping the Colour which is reviewed by The Colonel of the Regiment usually takes place a week before the actual Birthday Parade. (10th June )
I was never a member of the Guards and It may seem odd to some but on Passing Out Parades as a Junior Soldier we always used the move from three ranks to two and then "Form" just like the Trooping. We then carried out the same movements in slow and quick time, again just like they perform here. Sadly, today it is avoided by the rest of the army who just use a "Turn into line" at the corners of the square. Those were the days.

This isn't really a rehersal as numerous rehersals have taken place in previous weeks both at Wellington Barracks and on Horse Guards, in service dress and full dress. This in fact was the second parade which is a non-royal military review, the first being the midweek Brigade Major's Parade which can legitimately be regarded as a rehersal. The Prince of Wales reviews the parade today (10/06) and HM The King next Saturday (17/06) which is the actual KBP.

Actually, Trooping The Colour is on JUNE 17th.
@@irenebabys Well, your title is going to be confusing if it's not changed before the main event. It will make it hard to find it.
