After this morning's video, Blues exercising their horses, the Gurkhas and the Guards, could not resist watching this splendid majestic video again, Mr. Baton. No less moving. Thank you.
Thanks for this excellent "from the inside" video Mr B, and it was great to meet you outside Wellington Barracks afterwards. I'm glad you got such good coverage of "Red Men's March" near the beginning - and of course the other bands arriving as well; during my "recce" early in the day it became clear that filming the bands arriving at Horse Guards Parade, from St James's Park, was not going to be viable because so much of the public footpaths had to be closed off.
Yes I remember being so disappointed in the coverage of the coronation, of course it showed a great coverage of the coronation and rightly so , watched every bit of it- but what about the much publicised (I believe the like of which was never to be seen by so many ) parade by the forces? Never happened. I couldn’t believe what we did see, a glimpse here and there then back to the carriage. Thank goodness for the marvellous videographers! I found through searching for instance a video which showed the entire parade, another filmed the return of the troops to barracks and only then did I get a sense of the size of it all and it was amazing to see , marvellous! so I’m not expecting too much from the BBC’s output of the Trooping, (people on settees talking 🧐😤while the bands are on their way down the Mall…)😡like another said there’s a’no commentary’ (sometimes) available on iplayer which I prefer but still not comprehensive. @MrBaton74 Is the format the same this year where all 5 divisions of the Royal Household are on Horse Guards Parade, like last year, or has the format gone back to what it was in previous years?
Does anyone know what colours exactly are being trooped? When the 2nd Battalion IGs was re-established in September 2022, the British Army's PR crew indicated that the new No.9 and No.12 companies would be presented with 2nd Battalion colours "in due course" and that in the interim they would "proudly bear the 1st Battalion Irish Guards' old colours on parade." To my knowledge no presentation of new colours has taken place, so I am curious to know what colours are being used by No.9 Company in this year's troop. Today it's a regimental colour but on the King's birthday it will be a King's colour. Where are they coming from? 1st battalion? But that would be very odd in the circumstances and defeat the purpose of the exercise.
Hi. Our program stated that it was the Colours of the 2nd Battalion. We were at the Parade as guests of one of the Adjutants. If the program is correct, that's what it was.

I was really happy to learn my initial bafflement over the source of the colours being trooped during the two major dress rehearsals this year was justified. (Likely it really was the 1st Battalion's colours that were trooped on those occasions or else 2nd Battalion's colours that were laid up in 1947 were retrieved for the purpose, but that would be a stretch.) Your program must have been printed in anticipation of today's event. Having committed to holding the ceremony before June 15, perhaps the King's condition made it difficult to fix the date. You'll have to cross-examine your adjutant friend for details. Petty stuff to be sure, but occasionally it's interesting.
