      Such patronising words.
Im an ex serviceman and anti monarchist, as you put it .
Prats like you, like making statements on behalf of others .
Service men or women, dont need civvies speaking crap on their behalf. If anyone doesnt know what the armed forces are there for, I doubt they are interested.

Is it not possible to be anti-monarchist and also respectful to those who serve?

@@sgu02nsc66 I do not believe it is. Without our Monarchy all traditions are lost. I would not have served 24 years for a Republic. I did serve to continue our historical traditions. All these troops swear allegiance to the Crown and I believe all were proud to be a part of history that day. These men fight for King and Country and for that they deserve everyone's respect.

@@alexpaterson5455 holding area…they would been together at the beginning in a holding area…probably closer together than once marching. Once you begin, you just keep it up on strict beat. It’s very possible, speaking as a horn player (the heavy, on-4-count drum helps to keep that timing). I love it! The closest “effect” to this I’ve heard myself was listening to a bagpiper group practice beneath a bridge-the echo and sound carry was fabulous.

@Godys Armengot - Nothing ridiculous or sad here except your fabrications. You make a huge presumption about 'empire' based on nothing but your imagination.
We gave up 'empire' in 1948 and the Commonwealth was born out of it. 56 countries (some not ever a part of that 'empire') joined OUT OF CHOICE with others because they shared British inherited values of democracy, fairness and respect for all. All proud to be there from around the world. No other country can do this.
