Thank you so much for this tutorial! I’ve been stuck on a similar project (for longer than I care to admit) and your video make it all so very clear that I was able to complete my white whale in less than an hour. Thank you!!
No shame in that game, I know we all have those projects that we let sit a little longer than we would like (Or at least I sure do! LOL) I am so glad we could help! Have a great one!
This is a great video. I am about to make outdoor box cushions for my patio and I was debating on whether to do piping or not but you’ve made it look pretty easy. Is there a reason why you didn’t cut your piping on the bias (45°) for a stretch and better wear?
Here is our roman shade tutorial - www.onlinefabricstore.net/makersmill/how-to-make-a-roman-shade/ We don't have one using mini blinds, but maybe this will help you get to where you need to be to figure it out!
Do I need to used the wrapping around the cushion for my patio set that may get wet but not soaked? The sofa and chairs are in a screened porch and somewhat protected by rain. I plan to make a boxed cover. With zippers but like the Velcro idea! Do I need to make/sew on some piping?
You don't need to! I would recommend using an outdoor foam (www.onlinefabricstore.com/product-group-foam-and-padding.aspx?characteristic=outdoor) because even though it will not get soaked by the rain you do want to protect it against mildew. Also, the piping it totally personal preference, you do not have to include it!
I followed this to the tee and enjoyed the ease at which it went together, but once I tried to squeeze the stiff foam into the opening , the lack of give in the foam I used made it impossible to push into the opening. Any suggestions for this situation?
I live in a tropical island, I don’t like to use zipper which is always rusted very quick. Your velcro saves me. I am going to put them on my new cushions.
It is called pro stick. It is on backorder right now, but you can find it here - www.onlinefabricstore.com/pro-stick-65-hi-strength-web-spray-adhesive-.htm
It is a Clover Chaco Liner Pen. Unfortunately, we don't have them for sale at the moment (we're working on it) but oh my goodness its my favorite sewing tool right now.
Great tutorial. I wouldn't have attempted to do this on my own but after watching your video, I think I can. I have already purchased batting. Can I use that instead of the dacron fabric, or are they one and the same?
You got this! You can use batting. It is a little trickier to work with than dacron but by that I mean that you will just need a little extra finessing to get it to lay down properly. Best of luck with your project! We are here to help if anything comes up!
It will soften the edges. For outdoor cushions, I actually don't use the cushion wrap. The less material the better with outdoor cushions, drying is of the upmost importance. Without the wrap, the edges are going to look a little more sharp, but if you don't like that look you can round them out a bit by cutting the edge on top slightly (I would say but off 1/8" at a 45 degree angle.)
Can I just ask, you said cut the fabric to size of foam plus 1 inch, is that the size of foam plus the Dacron padding or the original foam dimensions so that it is plumper? Great video btw. Thank you. Chris
You are going to want it to use the size of the original dimensions of the foam. When you are making cushions or pillows, you want the cover to be a little smaller than what you think you need so they look nice and plump.
I loved this tutorial and constructed my cushions but noticed my Velcro sticks to the Dacron when I was stuffing the cushion. I noticed a thin gauze-like fabric that you wrapped around the Dacron. What is that called? Or do you have any suggestions to avoid the Velcro sticking to the Dacron?
The dacron cushion wrap we used comes with that thin material already attached. www.onlinefabricstore.com/cushion-dacron-wrap-fabric-.htm But you could probably use any thin material to wrap it, or try to cover the hook side of the velcro when putting in the cushion. Maybe with masking tape or painters tape.
I am recovering 4 patio chair covers. I would love to have just bought new ones. It might have been cheaper but I could not find any to fit so I am doing them myslef. I have not sewed in years. I am the point of sewing the panel to the top and bottom piece. My question is, what foot do you recommend for this step? I cannot get close enough to the piping with my standard foot.
hello merry Christmas very beautiful videos and sewing skills please kindly film how to thread and operate the sewing machine you used in this video please kindly let me know OK?thank you very much and have a beautiful day 😊
Jeepers, I can't wait until America finally catches up with the rest of the world and embraces the *metric* system. The measurements are _so_confusing... 🥴 Surely counting in units of _10_ is infinitely easier than counting in 16ths?! 🫨 That aside, the project was very successful; thank you for the tutorial. 🙏🏼
Thank you so much! I want to make cushions with the cording and didn't think I could. I think I will plan on going for it.
You can do it!
This was the simplest tutorial and easiest to learn from all I’ve seen! Thank you so much!
Glad it helped!
Dacron is new to me thanks for sharing and caring to show us. This is a nice tutorial
great video, love the velco closing, was putting off a project because the zip was daunting, going velcro instead now!
Perfect instruction. I found an old ottoman by the curb I'm updating & this was so easy to follow...
That's great! We're so glad you enjoyed our video.
So helpful. Just the right amount of detail. Thank you for sharing this great tutorial!
You are super talented! Amazing !
Thank you so much!
Thank you.. I needed exactly this video to make a cushion with velcro as I don't have zipper..

Same concern i have. Why no bias cut?
I am LOVING all your videos!!! Can you BINGE WATCH OFS? Yessss 😆
I learn by visual so could you make a video on Roman shades using mini blinds?

Great tutorial, well done. A project I’ll be making.
Loved the idea of Velcro. I was stressing about having to do a zipper until I watched this.
You can do it!
Thank you ! For being direct giving great instruction and the video is very fluid. GREAT diy video
Thank you! I am happy we could help!
Brilliant tutorial, very informative and easy to follow. Thanks 🤗
You’re welcome 😊

This is so understandable I am going to try this. Thanks
I live in a tropical island, I don’t like to use zipper which is always rusted very quick. Your velcro saves me. I am going to put them on my new cushions.
Great idea!!
You only showed how to stitch one side of the corded panels and you don't show how to line up the second one so they match.
Very cool!
Hi! Is there a reason that you recommend a zipper foot? I'm a novice!
The zipper foot is able to sew closer to zippers and piping.
Can I use this tutorial, omit the bottom fabric and just staple the sides to the wooden "base"?
Great video, what kind of adhesive did you attach the leftover pieces of foam together ? Thanks.
It is called pro stick. It is on backorder right now, but you can find it here - www.onlinefabricstore.com/pro-stick-65-hi-strength-web-spray-adhesive-.htm
Thanks, great video…may I ask what fabric marker you are using, thanks again

Lovely chair! Thanks for the tutorial it's very helpful.

What size piping do you recommend for patio cushions? Is 1/4 inch too large?
Why do you have to wrap the foam? Is there a certain type of foam and wrap recommended for outdoor use? Thanks a lot!

❤❤VERY INFORMATIVE 💫❤
What a great tutorial
Thank you!😊
Thank you!
Really good tutorial, thank you. By the way, you sound exactly like Kate Andrews of The Spectator. Are you related?
Next time try cutting the piping fabric a bit wider and on a bias for a neater appearance and smoother corners.:)
How do you cut piping on a bias? Diagonally cuts would use a crazy amt. of fabric and many joins. Am I thinking correctly? Thanks!
Thank you for sharing x

They make piping feet! You can get them online, or at sewing stores for pretty cheep
@@onlinefabricstore Thank you. I will check it out.
Would a zipper foot work as well?
@@garthmitton1857 I used a piping ft and it did the trick. Finished them last year.
What is the marker you are using?
Beautiful!
Красота!!! Столько труда вложено!!!
Спасибо!
what is the fabric that you used to spray on the foam?
Pudiera ver todo el proceso de tapizar todo el sillón?
el tutorial se acerca!

What is the marking pen you are using?
It is a clover chalk rolling pen.. We don't carry it right now, but it is a good tool for straight lines.

Get tutorial- wish I’d seen this before it took me 4 years to finish recovering my outdoor furniture. 🤪
OOF. Welp... make sure you save it so you have it in a few years.
Confusing to me. Her cushion is 23 X 21 but she cuts her fabric 23X22 and the boxing is 24X?
So beautiful sofa cover madam I like it
Muy bien video
Was wondering if you could do a video on how to make fitted legging
We have! Here is the tutorial - th-cam.com/video/icFBr9gdMrM/w-d-xo.html&feature=emb_logo
Why not fold boxing and make them longer so you don’t have to cut so many?
You can do that!
Piping for cushion
Lo pueden traducir al español por favor
You are best women.love u
Looks beautiful and way too complicated to make. I'll just buy one already made
