End of last year I pickup sewing machine and I reupholster my couch, and ottoman. Many of their video help me and I enjoy all of them. I even enjoy the narrator even sometimes he gets caught laughing and Cindy is awesome. I would say they are my professor.
I used this video to create a very difficult project using a very heavy material. Thank you so much for the awesome demonstration. Helped me so very much! Thanks 😊
This tutorial was so helpful as I'd spent a frustrating time trying to figure out how to sew the corners. The camera angle really helped. Just have to master inserting zip!!!
I love watching you sew! You make it look so easy. I want to finish my cushion this weekend. I always start and then wander off. You gave so many great and inspiring tips. THANK YOU.
This was the best video for making a seat cushion I've seen. It helped me so much. I made 2 cushions yesterday and they came out perfect. The lady sewing gave lots of great hints. Thanks so much.
Another great tutorial video, especially clear and well-paced. I am so glad I've learned your zipper insertion method. A real gob smacker, "Why didn't I think of that?"!
+Greta Helphrey We are glad you liked it and learned a new method for the zipper installation. Let us know if you have questions about your next project.
Fantastic video! I bought an old mid-century chair at a yard sale, now I feel confident to make new box cushions myself. Thank you very much from Germany
Thank you so much for such great quality video and explaining so well. I am moving out of the Dorms and a coworker donated her sofa to me and the cushions need to be brought back to life and this video has shown me how to do exactly that. Thank you so much.
wow this video was fascinating indeed! I have not use a sewing machine since 2006 and I was going to make some pretty simple patio cushion covers to replace the ones that were burned off by the Sun. I never thought I would be able to go even a month without sewing something but prior to me going to visit my father in Belgium my sewing machine was dropped off at the repair shop and I was never able to retrieve my Singer-So-Fro. I'm so happy that I decided to browse TH-cam 4 some video tutorials. I love watching this woman use that fantastic-looking sewing machine!
+Karen Boyd If you have to do any type of fabric sewing again, check back with us to see if we have a free helpful video. Thanks for your positive comments.
Wow, another great video from Sailrite! It's interesting how this was sewn differently than the French Mattress Style video where the boxing is all sewn in 1 long chain and then added to the top and bottom plate. Also the other lady moves the fabric around the corners and this one clips them. I totally realise that different seamstresses would sew differently... I am making a futon cover, so I have different ideas how to approach it. All of your videos (I've seen 3 tonight) are really well thought out and instructions are clear. I was so worried because I haven't sewn for over 15 years, but your videos sure eased my worries. TY
Thanks for your very positive comment. Yes, seamstress styles and techniques can be very different. In the end what matters is only if the technique results in a great finished product! Good luck on the futon cover.
Cindy, can I just send you my recliner to be recovered :) Nice job. Very informative video and the craftsmanship is impeccable. especially the extra fabric to hide the zipper pull.. You make this look easy!. Eric, you crack me up! I think you may have been an accountant in a past life :) Love this video!
J'adore, enfin des explications visuelles claires et compréhensibles. Dommage qu'il n'y est pas les sous titres en français.Auriez-vous une vidéo pour un coussin de fauteuil avec des angles rentrants ? MERCI
this video is really helpfull. after watching it, i think I'll try repairing the cover for my sofa cushion by myself. :) thank you for sharing the video. :)
+Siti Huz Excellent! I hope the project goes very well. We have great fabrics at this link: www.sailrite.com/Home-Decor-Indoor-Fabric#!Home-Decor-Indoor-Fabric
Do you use upholstery thread or is regular fine? Also if you use upholstery thread, do you use an upholstery needle? I am not using very heavy fabric but I do want it to hold up.
It is best to use a nylon thread for indoor upholstery applications because it stretches as the occupant sits in the chair. That helps prolong the life of the fabric by keeping it from ripping out the weave. No special needles are required. Here is a link to those threads: www.sailrite.com/Notions/Threads/Indoor-Thread/Notion-Material/Nylon/type/Products?order=custitem_popularity

Well, you could, but since the frays are on the inside of the cushion and not visible you do not need to do it. It is true an edge that has been serged is sometimes easier to work with when fabricating the cushion, but is is not required. If the fabric is a synthetic then the edge can be cut with a hot knife to help prevent the raveling.
Typically the cover will be about a half inch thinner than the foam used. So a 4" cover is usually using a foam that is 4 1/2" thick. 6" in a 4 inch cover may be way too tight.
We sell mechanical walking foot sewing machines. We do not sell add on walking feet, which are not mechanical, they simply lift the presser foot and drop it. It is best to buy a true mechanical walking foot sewing machine. Use this link: www.sailrite.com/Sewing-Machines/Portable-Heavy-Duty-Sewing-Machines
Thank you for making this video. There are many helpful techniques demonstrated. IMHO it would have been a better final product had you worked to have the front of the cushion be a seamless continuation of that striking pattern, I would have been displeased, as a customer, to have the ‘tail’ of the paisley repeating in ‘thin air’. Matching the pattern across upholstery is important.
What's the easiest way to adjust the cover on a couch cushion? The covers on my sofa cushions are creeping away from their proper positions. It's especially noticeable on the front edges.
I have a Lay-Z-Boy couch. I just wish I knew how to easily move the cover slightly to square up the way it wraps around the cushion. The couch is in great shape.

I noticed the fabric frays. Would you suggest serging all the raw edges?

Le falto la puntada de cargo ,porque no corto la tela con tijera dentada o de zigzag, eso se deshilacha con el tiempo al lavar la funda.

What's the easiest way to adjust the cover on a couch cushion? The covers on my sofa cushions are creeping away from their proper positions. It's especially noticeable on the front edges.
Typically this means the cushion cover may be too big or the foam has compressed and needs replaced. A little creeping for a couch cushion is normal.
I have a Lay-Z-Boy couch. I just wish I knew how to easily move the cover slightly to square up the way it wraps around the cushion. The couch is in great shape.
how many rate of stiching sofa pillow cover?????
Stitch length is typically about 5 to 6mm in length for a project like this.
Thank u very much for this making video😄
