The way the interview unfolded in the crown is fenomenal and worth of attention. It felt as if suddenly I was back in the 90’s. I can’t believe even my heart was racing as she spoke. The way Elizabeth channels Diana is uncanny. It felt very in the moment. Real. You can actually feel for her as she was deceived by the interviewer, but at the same time it allowed her to speak her truth. Something that might have eaten her from the inside out; crying to be let out. As we know Charles was also a victim of the system he was born to but that doesn’t mean Diana’s suffering was not real. She just wanted to be heard and understood emotionally.

      - She had to admit to the courts that she did have involvement in the book 'Finding Freedom' about her and Harry's life after she previously said she had no involvement, and texts were then found of her and Harry in discussion with the author.
      - The bishop of Canterbury came forward and said it was not true that he had married them before the ceremony as Meghan had told Oprah he had.
      - She implied her children were not given titles due to their race, even though admitting in the same interview she was aware of the rules set by King George V in 1917. Her children don't have titles because of those rules, for the same reason Prince Andrew or Princess Anne's grandchildren don't have the titles, who are white.
      - She said her passport was 'taken' after going on almost a dozen world trips over a short amount of time. Royal family members have their passports kept for safe keeping, making travel easier so they don't have to deal with it themselves. She was being disingenuous.
      - Several staff workers reported her for bullying.
      - She says the media scrutiny is over race, even though the British public and world were exclusively positive of her relationship with Harry having knowledge of her race for a year before their marriage.
There are many, many more examples. She consistently provably lies about events including ones relating to race. Unless she presents evidence as to her claims, its fairly safe to assume they're similar to these instances.

@@shadysorkin9214 prince Andrew's children do have titles. Princess Anne's children were not given titles as she refused them. She wanted her kids growing up as private citizens.
The bishop of Canterbury made a statement i agree but look at the words he used.. the 'legal' wedding was on the day we all witnessed it but what happened in private is something he doesn't need to reveal so maybe they said their vows in private or had what some may deem as the religious wedding in private. I'm not too familiar with the rulings in Christianity when it comes to weddings so happy to be corrected here but I know some religions will regard exchanging the vows verbally as a religious wedding although it won't be deemed legal until you sign the legal document etc. Maybe Meghan and Harry meant religious wedding when they said they married 3 days earlier. I'm just assuming here as that's all we can do really.
The race point you make is subjective. The announcement that they were a couple came with prince harry making a statement about the racial abuse she was facing so let's not ignore that. She did face racial abuse as she's had real death threats from the far right so much that people have been prosecuted as a result. Her child was compared to a chimpanzee and a GF of an MP made racial comments that were leaked. So to say there was no racial element to the abuse she got is incorrect. She did face racial discrimination by sections of the media and by some parts of the public I.e far right.
The finding freedom thing was obvious... and was pretty stupid of her to say she didn't feed any information.

People, keep in mind that NOBODY knew she was going to do this interview. And I mean NOBODY, Andrew Morton set it up, Martin Bashir and his crew knew they were interviewing someone, and she knew. That was it. Her staff even found it funny she gave them the night off, because that’s something she normally never did. She left the palace laying down in the back of a car to give it. Nobody knew that this interview happened until everyone turned on their tele’s the next morning and saw it. So of course that throws a bomb into how the Royal Family deals, but after so many bombs put on her, she decided it was her turn to speak.

My take on the Panorama interview is that after Charles went public with his interview and described his marriage with Diana as "irretrievably broken down", Diana wanted to also show her perspective.
And honestly, if you watch the original interview, Diana never once dismisses the Royal family; she only speaks directly of her experience of feeling isolated in an unloving marriage.
But she also states that she's happy to have found her role in helping other people and working with causes.
Martin Bashir asked open questions, she could refuse to answer, but the royal family now trying to say that Diana was "forced" or blackmailed is just stupid, I believe she would have voiced her side of the story one way or another. She already went undercover about her book, and the secret tapes of describing her experience.
Na, Diana was crying out and she did that interview with so much grace and honesty, that no matter how it was phrased, it would have felt threatening to the royal family because of Diana's very modern and down to earth character - she leads by empathy and care for the people, not systematically driven.
She also would have did the interview to stress that even if there was a divorce imminent (it didn't happen until after the interview), Diana wanted to make clear her intentional role as a possible ambassador for Britain.
But the response backfired and Diana paved her own path outside the palace.
Her example is a very humanistic and compassionate one, and her testament was the necessary shake the royal family needed to connect better with it's people and state issues. Lead from compassion, not just control.
Diana's death, and therefore silence, speaks volumes - and her light shines even brighter because her example is still hugely relevant, as she was a very REAL person and with an open heart.
We lost a wonderful person who would have done so much more good, and was just finding her own way to best assist, through healing and showing love for the people.
RIP Diana, Princess of Wales. ✨💙

It's a shame that it was this man who got to her and manipulated her even more BUT at the same time it's good that she did this interview otherwise the royal family would distort her story to defend themselves as they already do trying to rewrite her story. everything she said in this interview has already been said in her book. and the royal family still tries to create an unstable image for her, something she never was as it is widely known by her friends and teachers that she was not unstable before marrying charles. they left her like this

Neah. Diana was shy, vulnerable, frank and very expressive, none of which are captured by this actress. She's too confident (which Diana wasn't) and her eyes don't express the sadness, longing and compassion that Diana's expressed.

As a big fan of the late Diana, Princess of Wales both Elizabeth and Emma - did exceptionally well. They managed to capture the late Princess' voice/intonation and most of her gestures, mannerisms and facial expressions. There are probably just 3 things that maybe only Diana can do and can't be copied. Her side long stares, shy smiles with her eyes looking so innocent/dreamy/child-like and when she tucks her chin down and looks up through her eyelashes. Both actresses did these but it's not quite the same - they have stronger/defiant kinda persona.

Diana was also a great manipulator of the press. Part of this interview was the sleazoid machinations of Bashir which led to this interview. While she didn't whole-heartedly agree to this, she rather turned this into a coup that would force Charles' hand. She put it back into HIS court. While she undoubtedly stated she'd never be queen, she made it very clear she was after all, the mother of the heir and the spare and was a Lady by birth; something that Camilla was not. However, looking at it now, Camilla became queen consort BECAUSE of Diana's death.

    • @creativewriter3887

@@Jay-bi8vz EXACTLY and it wasn't like she was just an intellectual noob. While people took her self-effacing joke to assuage a child as a confession (that she was thick as a plank) , she was a veracious reader of literature, politics, world events and of self-help. I mean, part of her job was to KNOW what was going on in the world and was very, very keen as to her influence on things. True, she may have went overboard on the self-help thing.. But she wanted to get better and she said over and over again that had she been given the chance to rest and regroup she would have done so much better. And she DID do so after Harry was born. Once she had that showdown with Camilla and the backlash she suffered at the mouth of Sauron, I mean, Charles, she said in one interview that at that point, she knew she had to get better and to make a life for herself. So she dove headfirst into everything; learning as much as she could. So while yes, most of her one-liners did come from her speech writers and things she picked up, she was after all, as you pointed out, very intuitive, emotive, articulate and had a subtle wit about her.

Princess Diana was beautiful inside and out. She just had a vision of a good hearted woman that wanted to share her love with society. It's too bad Charles was so blind not to see it and realize that he had a wonderful woman beside him that would of made a beautiful queen. England would of been proud but because of jealousy, greed and adultery it came all down to a horrific ending. Diana just wanted to be loved but her ends were extremely sad. Hopefully through her sons her memory will outshine the rest. RIP beautiful Diana in the arms of the angels.😢

I think through this series and this scene, many of us identify with her. That is why when she was alive she was so loved by the world. We are all lucky to try, but trying to keep something is not enough. Just like all of us are lucky to be kicked out of a team. In this scene, she is at the interview alone and the whole family is having fun. This makes us identify with her even more. She had the wrong behavior many times, because you can't knock an institution of centuries. But the way the royal family treated her was inhumane.
