Ten years going to the gym and wondering why I can’t do a lung without knee pain. You sorted it out with the first mistake. I’ve been putting my weight on the toes. Thank you so much. 🎉

Wow, Wow, Wow, I saw a lot of videos, but they were some young fit guys doing lunges. THIS GUY is a young fit guy which is actually teaching you how to freaking do it properly, he is fantastic!! He tells you everything you are doing wrong, and how to learn to do this even if you can't do one! LOVE THIS, I never exercise, I'm old, and out of shape. But I am doing this because he explained what to avoid and what to do right. And showed me how not to get hurt!!

Thank you so much for making this video! I always felt I was doing something wrong but I couldn't understand why. In my past experiences, personal trainers have not been much help on this area. I think most of them assume I was meant to do them wrong because I'm overweight and don't help much on getting the right form. :|

Hi Maggie, we're so glad this video was helpful! We believe our exercises and doing things with perfect form can work for almost anyone and we're sorry to hear that personal trainers you had previous experience with tried to tell you otherwise 😶We hope you around the channel some more!

Thank you, thank you, thank you!! I was having pain in my upper thigh/quad and possibly hip flexor pain when my dominant leg(my right leg) was the leg in the back. It made doing lunges on that side downright dangerous. This video finally had me doing unassisted reverse lunges and static lunges without the pain. I was stretching my quad too far by trying to do all the work in my dominant leg that was behind me instead of my left leg/foot. I was almost trying to place my back knee down as I came down. Too much of a stretch for the quad.
Again, thank you!! That earned a sub! ❤

Really nice and simplified. Thank you. Please post all body weight beginner exercises eg pushups, situps, squats, AND most importantly, please, please include breathing patterns at each step of these exercises since incorrect breathing, causes fattigue and increase in blood pressure. Hope to see these videos especially for people who are in their 50s , late 50' like me. Also suggest u to include all body weight beiginner exercises in a playlist so that it is easy to pickup from the beginner playlist for body weight exercises
Big thank you for ur quality videos

When I was young, I never quite understood why the trainers in the gym talked about form. Coach Tyler explains it so well that now I see why form is important. If SG Doug Emhoff undertakes a physical fitness program to get Americans healthy (like Michelle Obama tried to get kids to be active), I hope he taps Coach Tyler (like Reagan did Arnold Schwarzenegger) to show us how. Coach Tyler explains it so we can understand and shows us how to do it correctly.

Thank you! This has helped tremendously!! I’ve struggled with HATING lunges because I’ve never gotten a straight answer about how to do them and what muscle should actually be working at every point in the lunge! Is it ok tho.. as a beginner not to go all the way down to the floor?

  • @Miroslav1Turkovic1

You explained very god stationary lunge and reverse lunge!
But how far do the feet go when doing a front lunge, how do we know where the optimal position of the feet is, so as not to overload the knees?
    Thank you!

I have 2 main concerns with lunges.
    1. How far to step forward. I seem to have a great deal of inconsistency in how far forward or backward I lunge.
    2. I seem to feel lunges mostly in the muscles above the knees but on the back leg. Kind of like how my hamstrings feel with even a slight pull on them. Is that just normal from that being unstretched, or something to be concerned about.
For reference i can do full depth squats even with weight and solid form. But my mobility is pretty low, so anything hamstring related I'm very limited in.

Knee pain is a very complicated subject. WeShape isn't a health care provider and thus can't diagnose the source of your knee pain, etc (those types of questions should be answered by your doctor), but doing lunges with improper form can be one of many factors that cause knee pain.
