    Thanks for review ! I bought classic 46 LTE . My needs is :
    -morning or evening run 11-13km , with online Spotify listening , without needs to download playlist , prefer to listen each time something new .
    -GPS + Hearth rate tracking.
    - possibility to call from watch directly if needed.
    -payment . Because after run I can go straight to shop :)
    Rest of the time I turned all features off and watch connected to phone just to receive notifications and that's all .
    In this scenarios hals of battery will be gone after run and rest is enough to end your day. Yes , buttery will die fast on hard load , but honestly ... For me this quality of watch itself , cover all cons . I have all what I need and when I need . I hope they will increase battery life and software issues in future , but all this possibilities as ECG , blood pressure , body composition I think at current state in all watches feels more like a toy :)U will not find watch - medical device for this needs currently , which will deliver 100% precise results , all more about marketing . So I can say that currently , this is the best Wear os watches , with in mind to be better soon as possible )))

    I think Samsung may change things as WearOS 3 matures. I find review situation (not criticizing your review just general notion) is almost always hand's on just as it came out about month ago and product has a lot of things which will go away eventually (or they won't who knows) yet in history it will be left as it was when it came out. I have Samsung Gear Sport and it was not runners watch. It was not great fitness watch either. It was kind of all around watch. Very nice at that. GPS was fine HR was bit jumpy. I do look for combination of both day to day and good fitness capabilities and i ended up choosing Samsung as affordable all around solution. It was good up to half marathon use and probably could pull marathon. I really hope Samsung will figure things out. Great review!

    Hi Chase, I use my watch to swim laps, walk, and play beach volleyball. My Galaxy watch 4 was been updated a number of times obviously since your review and has improved dramatically (you review 9/2021 today 9/2022). I don't notice the jerky GPS that you're seeing. My heart rate sensor has been pretty accurate also. The battery will drain faster with a lot of daily activities. For me swimming is the biggest drain. Swimming is my primary use. It tracks what stroke you swim each lap, your split times, heart rate, and lap counts. It's fairly accurate during swimming except if you're switching laps on the 25 yard/meter boundary. It's fine if you do 50s, but if you do like a 100 IM, which is Fly, backstroke, breast, than free, it will register some of your laps as 'mixed'. What ever that is. But if I do a 200IM which is 50 Fly, back, breast, and free, it gets that correct. So what happens to me is I don't get credit on about 50 to 100 yards of distance during a 1 mile swim. Which is fine, I know which part of my work outs won't trace properly and I sometimes change them so my watch is correct. Which is kinda stupid I know but well, I want my watch stats correct, LOL. The watch works great for walks. Beach volleyball you can only really track steps and heart rate, which is useful. I haven't noticed any significant issues with either of those exercises.

      The GW4 battery claims are pretty ambitious. It seems that GPS and the other sensors drain it significantly faster than some other devices. If you just use it as a smartwatch 40 hours MIGHT be possible with low brightness settings. Otherwise, it's a daily charge.

    Love your reviews! I'm on a watch hunt so they're really helpful. I'm trying to find the perfect watch... that doesn't exist 😅
    Have you used this watch while climbing? I'm into a little bit of everything. Cycling, cycling, running, hiking, swimming and diving. But I don't take any one of them too seriously. I was strongly considering the Galaxy Watch 4 but I want a watch that can track activities well and have heard conflicting reports on its performance and water resistance... so I'm thinking maybe the Garmin Fenix 6s or Venu 2s. Any preference?

    • @ChaseTheSummit
      @ChaseTheSummit  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Sadly "perfect" is subjective. The GW4 is a great watch in most regards I only had some issues with the HR data. As far as Climbing I'm not sure how it would hold up because of durability. Might be worth keeping clipped to your harness instead of on your wrist! The Fenix 6s and Venu 2 are very different. I have a whole video comparing them you might want to check out!

    Great review thanks, I had a sport active as a first watch, I picked up a galaxy watch 4 46mm brand new in the box for $204, I am in the UK, I find Strava inaccurate, I am not a serious runner, I use under armour map my walk, I did set up the Blood pressure, which had to be calibrated with a stand alone machine, I have an old Galaxy S10+ phone that works ok with it, but twice the watch has disconnected from the phone and needed tech support to pair it again. The ECG is not available in some areas. I have COPD so monitoring my SPo2 levels is handy, but requires you to put your elbow on a table and elevate your hand near your heart (not really practical for on the move). I have also had problems stopping the under armour app with the watch. I love the Amoled display, I wear glasses but can see most data without it, I find the HR monitor pretty good tested alongside a finger oximeter, I use a nylon Velcro strap. Only my second smart watch, I definitely prefer them to ordinary watches. I have explored Garmin watches, but apparently some of the have issues pairing with android phones. The only appeal is the battery life, then out of the huge range it’s trying to find the right one for me irrespective of budget. So at the moment my galaxy 4 is used daily for mapping my run/walk, counting steps, heart rate, also in conjunction with the Samsung health app for historical data.
    Just a bit of feedback thanks, I am always on the lookout for another watch with at least the same features or better but a better battery life.

  • @papafifille
    @papafifille 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I have a galaxy watch 3 and if you are serious about running, it is not completely satisfactory, and it is the same with this new generation: no training load, no recovery index. The inaccuracy of the gps and HR monitor is true but you can get an app called gear tracker (I am not sure it exists on wear OS) that kind of emulates the gps and allows you to pair a BT HR strap. Without gear tracker I am always short of 200 to 300m on a 10k run, with gear tracker, I am very close to a forerunner 745. You also have to launch the run on both Samsung health and gear tracker otherwise you lose the advanced running metrics of Samsung Health like VO2 max, balance, ground time, etc. So I can use the GW3 as a good back-up for running but as you said, I bought the Coros pace 2 as my primary driver just for running.

    • @ChaseTheSummit
      @ChaseTheSummit  2 ปีที่แล้ว

The sensors and GPS are not as accurate as they are on my Apple 6 watch. Since I like the data and I track the data, I went back to the Apple 6 watch for the reasons you mentioned during your review. I´m actually researching and looking for a new smartwatch to replace my actual Samsung Galaxy Watch 1st gen. In comparison to the 1st gen the 4th gen look like a big step forward in many ways. But I´ve also noticed the lack of accurancy on HR and some other general accurancy on logging. So your video/comparison helped me a lot to step away to the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4.
    Mainly reason I´ve found your channel was the research about the Garmin Fenix 6 ( actual focus and near decision is up to the Fenix 6 Sapphire, which seems to have a good scratch resistance, the quick fit possibility, seems good into HRM genereally and accurancy [for streaming and broadcasting I´ve got the though to add an HRM chest band into the setup] and seems good in daily use ).
    The last bit for the final step into Fenix 6 Sapphire is to get one to check with my arm thickness if it would the normal Fenix 6 or 6S the better fit for my arms.
    ( on sports I´m playing tabletennis regularly and relatively rare run/jogging on training base but on those both I want to know where my HR is going up to and didn´t cross my top line to overwork myself on my way to get better/more fitness/endurance overall. )
    Kinds regards and merry christmas from germany!

      Glad the videos have been helpful! If it helps, I have 165mm circumference wrists and both the 6s and 6 fit me will. I prefer the 6s but the 6 isn't terribly large once you get used to it.

    • @KleinerDrache
      @KleinerDrache 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the answer and get a little measure for me to compare how it look to me personally. I´ve take the measures of around below/hitting 170mm on wrist itself and 2 fingers away from wrist to have my full flexibility of the wrist theres around 175mm circumference. So it should be fit both for me.
      And I´ve researched the measures of the Fenix 6/6X and my actual Samsung Galaxy Watch 1st gen, the measures of Fenix 6/Galaxy Watch are nearly the same, the 6s is bit smaller, so it should really depends on personal looking/feeling on my wrist with the 6, if it will work out this time or should I go lower with 6s.
      ( Had one replacement of armband which was a bit too lose/flexible for my wrist and causes me a little constants painfeeling. Another malus for the Samsung Watch was their quick change bands that those little knobs was tend to break my bandholder twice on the original band and my actual one. As far I saw the quick change of Garmin, it seem developed way better than those from Samsung and other old kinds. )

    Totally agree. The HR function is useless and the GPS wiggles all over the place. Of the two, the HR is worse as it has no relationship to reality while the GPS is in the ballpark. I also found the body composition to be inconsistent - and I have the feature in a scale that works reliably. The sleep tracking is also flaky, rarely reporting any "deep sleep". If the idea was to leverage Google's apps, there's no Gmail, Google Assistant either. My only hope is that software updates will remedy some of the shortcomings, but I'm not feeling Samsung is committed to SW quality or has an organization in place that will tune products once released. They seem to grab onto new areas and release products that are orphaned rather than owned and evolved. While I like some things about their products and Android in general, I may have to jump over to Apple after all this. Mostly a waste of time/money

      It will always be the case with these types of fat and other measurements where an electric current is sent through your body and values are returned based on the resistance encountered by the current: it is not reliable. It is not only Samsung, I have a Garmin and Xiaomi scales and they both return inconsistent values because they get tricked by the amount of water you have in your body that is highly variable. Even the Dexa index’ although a bit more accurate is not that accurate.

    3. also after completing a workout watch app doesn't show history of activities or a summary on the watch and we can't get confirmation whether it is synced or not
    4. also when the watch app screen toggles from strava app to another one, say music app, strava app which is minimized during the time won't log distance and does not use gps.

    I have been using it for a month now. Very very bad GPS accuracy. Especially in loops, it goes ALL over the place. Its so bad that the data is actually useless. In other predominantly straight line runs, there is easily a mismatch in the distance covered of put 20%. With the GW4 under reading the distance covered. This becomes readily apparent when the data syncs to Strava, and the distance(and therefore the pace) shows up as much more. Even the running app is so poorly designed. I am sure whoever designed that app is definitely not a runner !! I am now planning to shift back to Garmin. Its a pity actually. As for most of the other day to day stuff, the watch is really great. I'm really in trouble now. 😔😔
    The Quantified Scientist, He said that Galaxy Watch 4 is not very good in fitness. But Galaxy Watch 3 is good for fitness. I also heard a other reviews that the Galaxy Watch 4 turned off at only 26/27 degrees Celsius. I see a lot of people giving such good and bad reviews about Galaxy watch 4.
    You, Said your experience about watch 4 is bad for fitness.
    But Desfit says, the Galaxy Watch 4 is better in fitness than the Galaxy Watch 3. Now, I have some Questions for you. If, You can answer my all questions i will be benefited.
    Q1: Galaxy watch 4(not a Classic) or Galaxy 3, Which watch will give me more better fitness accuracy like Hr, Spo2, Gps, ECG and Blood pressure in this time?
    Q2: Galaxy watch 3 and 4 those watch can stable in 35- 37/40 ℃ and 0/-10°C?
    Q3: Can i paird Any Heart Rate sensor in those Watch?
    Q4. If I use a HR sensor, which watch should I take Watch 3 or 4, and will it be ahead of the Garmin Watch Foreruner 245, Venue 2 or Instric?
    Q5: Also, will the Huawei GT2 Pro be more accurate in fitness than the Galaxy Watch 3 and 4? And can I paired any HR sensors to this watch too?
    Please Answer my all questions, please.
    (If anyone is using any of these watches. Then, please let us know your experience about that watch.)

      It's interesting to see such polarizing reviews but we all have a different take.
      Q1. I can't comment as I don't have experience with the older Galaxy 3.
      Q2. I think they'll be OK as long as they're strapped to your wrist and close to body heat.
      Q3. With specific apps you can pair third party heart rate sensors like Strava, and SportyGo
      Q4. I'd still say a Garmin will be more accurate and more geared towards fitness.
      Q5. Cant comment on the GT2 as I don't have experience with it.
      Hope that helps.
