The Samsung Galaxy Fit 3 seems like a no-brainer; it has most of the Galaxy Watch’s functionalities, but at a fraction of the price. I bought this watch for the equivalent of about 65 dollars. Compare that to the Galaxy Watch 6, which is about 3-4 times more expensive at roughly 220 dollars. But, how does the actual performance of the Galaxy Fit 3 compare to the Galaxy Watch when it comes to health and sports tracking? Let’s find out: in this video I will systematically and scientifically test the heart rate and sleep tracking of the Galaxy Fit 3 and compare it to the performance of the Galaxy Watch, and I found some things I did not expect. As always, I want to start with the heart rate tracking performance, which I tested on myself and on my colleague Raphael.
Now, normally, I would next take a look at the GPS tracking performance. However, the Galaxy Fit 3 does not have built-in GPS, but it uses your phone’s GPS instead. So it will do just as well as your phone is at GPS tracking. So, what is my overall conclusion on the Galaxy Fit 3, is it a better bang for buck than the Galaxy Watch 6? Well, maybe… It is a decent smartwatch, and actually has way better battery life than the Galaxy Watch 6. The Galaxy Watch 6 is rated at about 40 hours, whereas the Galaxy Fit 3 is rated at 13 days. However, the Fit 3 just doesn’t feel very premium. It is very similar to so many other smart bands out there, like the Huawei Watch Fit 2 for instance, which is a bit more expensive, but has far superior heart rate tracking. Of course, that isn’t part of the Samsung ecosystem. However, if you want to stay in the Samsung ecosystem, I would personally rather buy an older Galaxy Watch, like the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4, than the Galaxy Fit3. Honestly, the recent Galaxy Watches, so the 4, 5 and 6 aren’t all that different, and you might be able to find the 4 or 5 for just over 100 dollars, which would be my preference. As you saw, in general, Galaxy Watches aren’t the best performers on me in terms of heart rate and sleep stage tracking, they are not terrible, but if you are not committed to the Samsung ecosystem, there are better choices in my opinion. Now, of course the results I showed you might vary from person-to-person, so please also check some other reviewers. - วิทยาศาสตร์และเทคโนโลยี

Hey Quantified Scientist. I was wondering if you planned on reviewing the Withings ScanWatch 2. I’d like to know if it’s accurate and worth it as I love the design. Thanks so much!
Please review huawei band 9 and honor band 9.
Hi can you do a review for the amazfit band 7
One of the best things that could happen was finding your scientific reviews on smartwatches since most reviews are quite mediocre and merely touch on the surface by just showing new features, but not testing and comparing with reliable devices out in the market.
Thanks to you, I've bought the Fitbit Charge 6 and it's serving me pretty well especially when it comes to tracking exercises and MOST IMPORTANTLY WHEN IT COMES TO SLEEP TRACKING. ❤
Thanks a million, Rob, for doing an outsdandingly fabulous work! ❤
Same! I love my Charge 6
A few months ago, I discovered your channel after researching for what fitbit I should purchase. Thanks to your in-depth and unbiased analysis of each watch, I chose a Versa 4 as my main reason was for sleep stage tracking. Thanks again for taking the time and effort to make these. Keep it up, Rob!
Wow thanks 🙏🏾
Do not buy fitbit. They are cancer.
Today I searched about this device on your channel but I couldn't find and after a couple of hours you uploaded this video. What a coincidence! :)
Yesss finally!! The video I was waiting for 😍😍 thank you!!! Love from Chile 🇨🇱
Seems accuracy of data from a tracker is highly dependent upon the heart rate sensor....and the quality of the algorithm software, that interpret the data from the heart rate sensor(plus the other sensors).
So, if a heart rate sensor is inaccurate...that's really all you need to know, if accuracy of tracking is important to you! 😉
Thanks for this review. These scientific reviews are the best because your videos are not just some stupid ads, but really useful tools for buying smartwatches. You truly are great. I was wondering if you were thinking about doing a review like this about the Huawei band 9. Thank you!
It's probably the same as 8, with ambient light sensor which is nice. I have the 8, it is very good.
I have been reviewing the fit 3 for the past week. I live in the US and bought it on Amazon. It connects to my phone and seems to work without issue.
Thanks as always for the good information.
Hey Rob, I just wanted to say that your tech videos are absolutely fantastic! Your expertise and attention to detail really shine through in every video you create. It's evident that you put a lot of effort into your content, and it's greatly appreciated. Keep up the amazing work, Rob! Looking forward to your future videos!❤
Based on Huawei's official pitch, the Huawei Band 9 boasts an improved sleep tracking feature. It's being hyped up as potentially the best Chinese fitness tracker for sleep monitoring. I'm really curious to see its actual performance.
Thanks for the review. Ever since I discovered your channel, I always head to your channel before I make any purchase decisions.
Thank you very much and please keep up the good work.
I'm glad to see this testing, I've determined I don't really need a smartwatch but very interested in quality trackers as they do what I need at better prices and battery life. 👍🏼
Ditto
I used it for 1 month, initially the measurements were not accurate, but from the second week they are almost perfect similar to the Apple Watch, perhaps Samsung's algorithm needs more time
did you test both at same time to know it?
@@RedPanda_00806 Exactly, plus Polar band
What is your battery life look like? My main focus is battery life and good sleep tracking on Android. My only option for andorid so far seems fitbit charge 6 which is not available to buy here
Buy huawei gt 2 pro. Similar price second hand 2 weeks battery
What about the sleep tracking ?
I found your channel about 4-5 months ago, and I was glad I did. I have saved a bit a money, not buying devices that don't work as well as all the other reviewers recommend. I really like the in depth tests you carry out and the way you show the results of the tests. I saw a few days ago that Samsung had released a new watch, then I saw the international version, on Amazon. One of the reviewers I occasionally watch had mentioned it, so I came over here to see if you had reviewed. Great review. Just saved another U$68. 😁 Thank you for all your hard work.
Your videos are such a great reference for really evaluating fitness trackers - thanks so much for your work! After watching so many of your videos it seems that the only really valuable kindof-budget heartbeat tracker is the Huawei Watch Fit2 (apart from chest straps). Since no valuable budget alternative showed up so far I guess I should try this tracker....
Thank you! Been waiting for this review
Hope you like it!
Thank you. Waiting review for Huawei band 9
I'm waiting for 2 weeks already before buying Huawei band 9.🙂
Yes, I have been waiting for this review since it was realised.
Long overdue review. Thanks ❤
This exactly the kind of data I was looking for. Amazing work!
Even though I have a charge 6 and am happy with it, I watch all your uploads lol. Been watching your videos for some time and you helped me choose to get the charge 6, since I wanted a fitness tracker and not a smartwatch, since I think that’s the whole point of my iPhone, for “smart” features. You give such insightful information and I just find your data analysis’ very interesting.
Thanks for uploading this video, I have been considering this one for a while.
The review does match it against other smart watches, but would also love it if you could throw in a tight comparison with other 'bands'. Given that these products are broadly divided into bands / watches / rings, my guess is the form factor may have some limitations on the capabilities. I could be wrong here, but would love to hear your thoughts on this.
This are the channels that deserves more than a hundred thousand subscribers due to their scientific reviews, giving the viewers a knowledge/insight about the watches accuracy, reliability, credibility and precision. This is the channel that a real fitness person is looking, the accuracy, reliability, credibility and precision of the smart watch. Giving as an Idea if it's worth the spending. Thank You for this amazing reviews and Godspeed 🙂.
Hey Quantified Scientist. I was wondering if you planned on reviewing the Withings ScanWatch 2. I’d like to know if it’s accurate and worth it as I love the design. Thanks so much!
Great work is always. Thank you.
Hey Rob, Great Job 🎉! Would you also Test Withing devices Like The sleep Analyzer?
waiting for the Huawei band 9 review pleaseeeeee!! 😅😅😅😅 Greetings from México. 😊
I'm waiting for 2 weeks already before buying Huawei band 9. 🙂
I was considering getting this, it got released after i bought my Garmin venu sq 2 seems really good for the price, thank you for your review
garmin venu 3 seems to be best atm outside apple ecosystem
Thanks so much for the review! Now I'm using a fitbit charge 5. If the fitbit charge 7 looked like this, it would be great.
Nice review. I am curious about huawei band 9. Will there be a review of Huawei Band 9 ?
Hi Rob, in your overview of sleep tracking, the image where you marked the Samsung devices with red rectangles at 24:25 you missed the Galaxy 5 Pro which is the best performer of the Samsung-bunch. At 24:56 you highlight the Whoop strap devices and mention that it "isn't bad at all". The Galaxy 5 Pro tested better than the Whoop 4 which you highlighted. EDIT: You do bracket it later as one night only. I still would have appreciated if it had been highlighted together with the rest of the Samsung devices.
Hello Rob! Could you do a video about Huawei GT 4 Pro
Because im wondering if to buy a GT 3 Pro or a newer pro version
Huawei band 9 when?
It has been released
I really appreciate this review man! Please tell me if i should buy Huawei watch 1 over this? Thanks :)
Thanks for the video! Bought one for my wife and compared it to my GW5. The GF3 seems to show a higher SP02 reading than my GW5. Can you test the SP02 on the GF3?
When will you test Huawei Watch 4 Pro? Thx!
Regarding the Samsung Fit 3, as usual, the sleep part is not correct, and the sports part has many hiccups regarding the correctness of the data.
Could you do a Amazfit Band 7 accuracy test? I love your videos they have helped me find a watch and I am considering the amazfit band 7!
How is sleep tracking of Huawei Band 9?
You rock man seriously the best reviwer
I was waiting for this as well! perfect review!
i can't wait to watch your review on the galaxy ring though.
You and me both! Hope Samsung sends me one, but so far no luck…
You're making the most useful reviews so they will see your effort sooner or later and they will start recognize you. 🤞
was waiting for this❤
I loved using the Fit 3; however, I ended up returning it twice due to the persistent syncing issues. I went back to using the tandem of my GW5 and Fit 2 when using Samsung Health.
I recently bought Huawei Band 9. so cheap, cant resist. But i think its a big big to my liking. Whats the best small band fitness tracker that can do HR, sleep n vo2max tracking well?
Honestly, i was excited for the Samsung fit 3 review since i bought Huawei watch fit 1 (which unfortunately being old is only present in few charts lol, so i assume it to be closer to huawei gt4 or somewhere below watch fit 2 for reference). I got it a couple of months ago which for roughly the same price of the fit 3.
The Huawei watch fit at this point is 3 years since launch but seemed good for heart rate tracking. I got it for basic calisthenic workouts and running.
This video was excellent considering the addition of 2nd test subject and new data for running session for comparison.
Your videos have helped me in my buying the right fitness tracker for me. Overall, im happy with my huawei watch fit and would like to see it in the charts if possible lol.
Jokes apart, thanks for providing such well presention of data. You are doing an amazing job man!
What about Huawei watch 9 ..?
Can you do a review soon?
Great video. Are you going to review the OnePlus watch 2 ?
Keep the outstanding work 👏👏
Thank you, I will
Could you test the Huawei watch D? It comes with blood pressure and ECG at a price similar to the Apple watch but with a long-lasting battery. Thank you
Just the comparison I needed. Many will highly appreciate if you can clarify if the measurement of these watches/fitness bands improve/ change with upgrade in software or firmware.
Can you also do a video of possible on comparison between fit3 and inspire 3 and inspire 2 as they seem to be close to each other in price range.
If I have to choose between huawei band 9 and xiaomi band 8 pro what should I choose?
Hey, will you review Xiaomi smart band 8 pro or Redmi Watch 4?
Hi Rob? can you do a review on the huawei band 9? i think is comparable to the samsung fit 3
Maybe it also has to do with the tightnest adjustment for the Fit 3 and other devices, since they both had different results in some scenarios?? I have the last years Galaxy watch and I got a custom band where I dont have to adjust every time you put it on your wrist! My watch may be slightly off but as a Nurse I know that when any device is too tight or loose any device can give a faulty reading with legit medical devices such as Heart rate, Blood pressure and SpO2 devices, especially if continuous movements are being read by these medical grade devices. The best accuracy overall is an EKG device that can overall read the rate, rhytm and electrical impulses against any device in the public market because it doesnt rely on the pulse on the wrist, since some people have weaker pulses when you try to find a pulse on a wrist.
You did big work😮 Its cool. Im still waiting for Suunto watches😅
You have been using Ultrahuman ring for a while. How do you assess its sleep tracking and heart rate measurement accuracy ?
Please review the huawei band 9. Its newly released and im curious about it
Hey, I saw you using some braces with balls in the elbow. Is that for cubital tunnel? How did you make them?
Much needed insights.
also, I wish Fitbit had better hardware support in India.
Your harsh conclusion doesn't match the numbers you present for this tracker. It matches or beats the numbers in all categories except sleep tracking for the Polar Ignite 3, Garmin fr165 and Garmin vivoactive 5. And you admit in another video that most trackers/watches are bad at sleep tracking anyway. Keep in mind 2 things: the Fit 3 costs $130 CAN, while the Garmin fr165 is $339, the Garmin Vivoactive 5 is $399 CAN and the Polar Ignite 3 is over $500 CAN; and secondly, most fitness trackers/watches have a limited life because of the unreplaceable battery. Polar says the battery for the Ignite 3 has an expected battery life of 2-3 years, and then it's a throw away. I was looking at the Garmins and the Polar, but I bought the Samsung Fit 3 because of the numbers you presented, not because of your analysis or conclusion.
Hi! Hope you could review the redmi watch 4 also. I'm confused which one should I buy. Huawei watch fit 2 or Redmi watch 4. I'm a fitness enthusiast. Thank you
Sir please do scientific review for Xiaomi Smart Band 8 Pro and then Huawei Band 9 and then Amazfit T-Rex 2. Thank you sir
Tks so so much for the elaborated tests. Huawei band 9 and huawei fit se next pls. No one seems to know huawei bands (from 6) and gt4 can broadcast hr data straight into a bicycle computer, thus eliminate the need for hr strap when cycling😊
That's great I didn't know that, I had a Huawei Band 8 and just sold it, if I had known I wouldn't have sold it lol.
@@jonhalda you can buy a 2nd hand band 6, still got hr broadcast, and it's fucking cheap
Спасибо большое за столь глубокий и детальный анализ. Выводы сделает каждый для себя, покупать или нет.
Just ordered Huawei band 9. As in your band 8 review it was showed very reliable and accurate. So blindly went with band 9 this time. Will get it end of this month, hoping you’ll make a video on it soon too. Appreciate your reviews. 🙌🏻
I watched a review for band 9 and the reviewer said that sleep tracking is not good.
He woke up and tried to sleep after that but he couldn't but the band 9 count the trying as he really slept.
@@MrGeekan yes it’s been like that for sleep tracking as seen in the past videos, I was hoping sleep tracking would get better with their new 4.0 update on the band 9 but will wait for quantified scientists video on it. Although sleep tracking isn’t a feature I’d use even if I had it. Just have a hard workout later in the day and exhaust yourself, don’t consume caffeine few hours before bed and you’ll have the best sleep
@@nyseldias
For me I have many problems in sleep so I want a smart band with nearly accurate measures.
@@MrGeekan then I think you’ll be better off with a Fitbit charge 6. Or consider an Apple Watch SE 2 👍🏻
@@nyseldias The two choices are out of my budget 😂.
80$ is the maximum value for the band.
I am not interested in smartwatches at all for now.
Thanks for your great videos. I used the Fit 3 this morning. My Fit 3 gave me trash readings when we talk about heart rate and heart rate zones.... Samsung needs to build watches with better sensors. My Galaxy watch 6 have the same trash sensors. It gives me the same inaccurate readings.
Tomorrow for my training I will go back to my peloton heart rate band. This band gives me very good readings.
Have a great week!.
Greetings Jonathan from Germany.
Give it time may be the algorithm needs time my also measured trash readings at first but in 1.5 week it have accurate readings like my galaxy watch 4 classic. I brought it for my mother
Hello
The Quantified Scientist. Huawei Watch Gt3Pro have big New Update Harmony OS 4.0, can you retest Heart rate when trainning and sleep?
Waiting for the Huawei Band 9. When will you do a review about it? I'm waiting to see a comparison between the Huawei Band 9 from its predecessor which is Huawei band 8.
Huawei Band 9 is now available in Europe through Amazon.
Can you review the sleep tracking performance on Polar devices (variety sensr / h10) with Sleep as Android please?
Howdy Rob Thanks for posting this video.
Thanks for commenting
Are you also going to make a huawei band 9 review?
Huawei band 9 is available now, please do a review
PLEASE REVIEW HUAWEI BAND 9. I'm waiting for 2 weeks already before buying Huawei band 9. it is scary that some products have newer version but a worse version. that is why Quantified Scientist's videos is very helpful. thank you
At last!!! Thx man
Please, can you prepare a video that talks about the upcoming health sensors? Like, calorie tracker, etc.
Are you considering to review the OnePlus Watch 2?
Hope u review the Huawei band 9 and the one plus watch 2
Probably going to grab this soon. I have a Fit2. I have a Samsung phone. Seems like an upgrade from the Fit2 once they get all the bugs out with updates. For around $60 to get basic smart watch/ fitness features seems like a good value.
will there be a review for OnePlus watch 2?
Huawei Band 9, still waiting for the review. I hope you can have a review about it
How do I use the H10 and measure heart rate range and have either their app or strava or a watch to allow me to set min and max heart rate and have a notification when i go beyond the min/max?
What is your opinion about Trusleep 4.0?
I want to buy my first smartwatch and i am conceding the huawei band 9 could you please review it?
Will you do a review for Honor Choice watch?
What do you think about Trusleep 4?
Oh to have scientific content... thanks as always.
As a smartwatch wearer since they first appeared, I have recently gone back to mechanical watches and thus have been on the hunt for a discreet fit/smart band rather than my SGW6Classic or 5Pro.
I have tried just about every smartband out there (thanks Prime returns) and finally this Samsung device is just about spot on.
First is that it works just like WearOS but faster.
It's the perfect size for function and form of a smart band
It's accurate enough for my basic fitness requirements
Its cheap for a quality brand
Because I use a watch for time, I can use the fitbit for messages only and thus battery is wonderful
And the most surprising thing is that it turns on/off so fast . This means it's ok to turn it off when sleeping or other times I don't really need smart function.
can you please review huawei band 9?thanks
Can you Please help me always been a mi band guy but hawei band 8 looks better for the same price point got my other half the hawei 8, soo now I need a new band and the hawei band 9 scored very poorly so I'm really struggling for my next band at this price range or upto the £100 range, really hoping for some knowledge before buying thanks for taking the time to read
Subbed as soon as you talked about axes 👏
Hello!
Does the device give HRV values?
Is it reliable for continuous SpO2 monitoring (like during sleep)?
Thanx for the video
My pleasure
thank you for your review! I'll keep my Huawei Band 8. A bit sad as Samsung's UI have better feel than huawei's, 🤕
Which device should I buy if I only need a function that tracks all types of movement on average? I also don't want you to have to select the type of movement separately, it simply calculates the movement activity automatically.
Do you offer download of data you gathered?
can you please review the honor choice haylou watch? thanks.
Bro you gotta make a review for HUAWEI WATCH D. ur my go to person when deciding for a watch.
Will you be reviewing the oneplus watch 2?
Can we use this as standalone device? I have an iphone and want to use it just for workouts
Wow I can't believe Galaxy Fit 3 can't beat Huawei Watch Fit 2 haha! I will wait for Huawei Watch Fit 3 then
