I discovered Phil X about 6 months ago through TH-cam and am totally bummed to learn that he’s been rocking long before I heard of him. The bright side is I’ve been catching up on all of his videos. I truly think he’s one of the best rock & Roll guitar players out there.
I luv Phil. He is really a great guitar player and also he's as geeked out as anyone when it comes to finding that right tone for that right situation. He's just a phenomenal all around player!!!
I'm convinced that there are no nicer people on Earth than those who work at Sweetwater. They will absolutely bend of backwards if you're in a bind. My adviser, Darius Beatz, is just a pleasure to do business with but, really, everyone I've ever dealt with has been. First class operation all the way.
I love how you can pick out the exact guitar you're going to get. The'll have five of the same model with different weight and serial numbers. Each one is slightly different and unique. It's guitar heaven!
@Dave Dennis. He's on my twitter account. He sent out begging 'tweets' on his account, asking for donations for his Mother-in-laws hospital bills. People were sending in 5$, 10$ and some were poor and apologising for only giving 1 dollar. I don't like that. He is a big earner not only with Bon Jovi (mega) but with all his other music incomes. PONCE.
Mitch was smart to keep his comments to a minimum and let Phil crack on with it. Great interview, would have been great to hear Phil play a little, especially for those who couldn’t get to the gig.
Phil is right. Sweetwater does feel like a big family. I visited at Gearfest there last year and arrived a day early before all the madness began. Everyone I met was just awesome, friendly and upbeat. I love that place. I'd find a closet and live there if I could!
Love Phil x ... down to earth dude... Love sweetwater it's the only place I buy gear My sweetwater guy David Merkosky is the man... always returns my call, great advise and prices
Great offering. One of my fave EC discs was From The Cradle. Some tunes were one take, others like my personal fave Five Long Years was like 5 takes. Keep on kicking ass, Phil !
As far as I've been able to figure out, there was a falling out between Phil and the people that designed the amp, and the company that actually produced it so it was discontinued
ot only is Phil clearly a super nice guy, but he's self depreciating and humble in a very endearing way. He's also a shit hot guitarist who's getting all the good things that he deserves.
Phil X is such a cool dude... kind of guy that is very talented, but won't brag about it... he will just prove it. Also, seems like he would be the type to have some "far out" talks about life, religion, and the future...
I like the guy, I like the guitar player, I like his search for his own tone, I liked his Friedman amp ... He's now with Supro ? Need to delve into that. I never did and I still dont't like his guitars ....but that's only my opinion of course. Thumbs up anyway.
Its funny guys like Phil X talk about tone, i have been doing this since the 80's. Nothing new. George Lynch had the TONE in 1987 we still all are seeking.
Does he have only on tshirt or many of the same?..... Honestly this guy is a hoot... You can't watch him for more than 15 seconds without just plain cracking up.
Phil is such a dichotomy. His playing, and sound, are so stripped down and "basic" (for lack of a better word). But all of his equipment, from his Framus guitars to his amps are super-F*CKING-expensive! Haha. Leave it to Mr. X. Cheers.
“Tone” is starting to become a buzz word that guitar-oriented channels, accounts and videos use to sound legit and sophisticated. If it sounds good to you, then go with it kids.
When you pick lighter you actually get more sustain and bloom and clarity since you arent forcing the amp to self limit and clip (that's to say running the amp hot like Phil does), that's the nature of the Plexi and it's power section which is looser and slower on the attack, that's the old school approach. Lots of modern amps are very tight and sturdy on the low end because of how the solid state rectifier is designed
Phil X . This is the most calm I’ve ever seen him .
Somebody slipped Ritalin into his edibles.
@@tonyfondacaro1980 Makes no sense
Phil is the coolest dude in the guitar world. Great interview with a guitar God who has a passion for music!
I miss fretted americana :) 😂 good to hear him again !
I'm so proud of Phil and the technical information he brings to us, always so generously and enthusiastically...
I love it!

Absolutely one of my favorite guitar Players!!

Phil Freaking X
Hell Yeah 🤘

A man of exceptional talent...
Phil X is awesome, always friendly and great info.

Nostal Jack I’ll second that. Sweetwater is a case study in a customer centric company.
I love how you can pick out the exact guitar you're going to get. The'll have five of the same model with different weight and serial numbers. Each one is slightly different and unique. It's guitar heaven!
Love Philxx....hes so down to earth, and seems like just like a fun dude to be around, and a fantastic guitar player, and song writer, 🤟😎🎸😊
Nothing lightens up the day quite the same as a Phil X video does with his rock spirit.
"Good guy to have in the band."
Best compliment ever.
After you watch, give this video a thumbs up and subscribe! 😎🤘
bro, you get a thumbs up for that handshake alone!!! 10/10
After?
If you have Phil X, it's already cool. 👍
Really grown to appreciate Phil. He knows where it's at. Great interview.
Phil X is the man.
Good guitarist but he's a bread-head creep.

@@antreb15 Sure it wasn't a scam?
Always a pleasure listening to Phil, serious but fun!
Phil is the coolest, great interview. 2 amps per performance, I do that too!! Works great!
Phil is a fantastic player and super fun guy, great to see him featured in the channel!
That band has unreal talent.
Don't kid yourself, Mitch. You are more than cool enough.
Mitch was smart to keep his comments to a minimum and let Phil crack on with it. Great interview, would have been great to hear Phil play a little, especially for those who couldn’t get to the gig.
Phil Rocks and great tone info :)
Phil is right. Sweetwater does feel like a big family. I visited at Gearfest there last year and arrived a day early before all the madness began. Everyone I met was just awesome, friendly and upbeat. I love that place. I'd find a closet and live there if I could!
Phil is the Otto Mann of the rock world
Phil really knows his stuff! Great interview.
Not a Bon Jovi fan, but have massive respect for Phil X... thanks for the lesson and information.
Phil was popular WAY before his Jovi stint.
Sweetwater and Phil X, awesome!
After hearing Bon Jovi live this year I wonder how long it will take before Phil's taking over the lead song too... Phil is a beast ♥️
Love Phil x ... down to earth dude... Love sweetwater it's the only place I buy gear My sweetwater guy David Merkosky is the man... always returns my call, great advise and prices
Gotta love Phil X . MONSTER player !
Great interview!
Phil X = Pro
Anything Phil X - instant click!
Phil X is THE MAN! He’s so right about tone.kids listen up.
Good ol' canuck right there!!!
Great offering. One of my fave EC discs was From The Cradle. Some tunes were one take, others like my personal fave Five Long Years was like 5 takes.
Keep on kicking ass, Phil !
Hell's yeah on dropping a new drills record! Phil's the best TH-cam guitarist there ever was! Glad to see fame hasn't changed him at all.
Phil X baby! WAAAAOOOOW!!! 😆
Phil X is such a cool dude!
Such a beast rock guitarist
Phil is a rock star that needed a place to happen. That woulda been cool.
This is the most relaxed Phill X I’ve seen.
That's right😀👍🎶🎸
Phil is the coolest guy on this planet !!
Good stuff ☝️🎶🎵🎶🇨🇦
Great info thanks bro! 🎸
Spicoli meets rock n roll! Love Phil!
Phil X is a class act and Killa player.
Love Phil x I SAAAAID PHIL XXXXXX
What happened to the Evil Robot?
As far as I've been able to figure out, there was a falling out between Phil and the people that designed the amp, and the company that actually produced it so it was discontinued
I could listen to phil x talking in hours
Yup 👍
Great video thx !
I'm gonna have to try pairing my tweed champ with a marshall and see what happens! :D
ot only is Phil clearly a super nice guy, but he's self depreciating and humble in a very endearing way. He's also a shit hot guitarist who's getting all the good things that he deserves.
I love when Phil X isn't hopped up on speed and speaks like a normal person. He's a killer guitarist.
Plot twist: he's always sober.
Actual amp talk starts at @4:08
He keeps it simple and makes it sound so great. He’s makes rock music fun. Like to hear him play with Jared James Nichols. That would be entertaining.
How about the solo from “Closer to the heart,” by Rush?
Are we going to see Phil's Framus signature guitar for sale on Sweetwater?
Framus pretty low volume manufacture.
guitar genius there!
What happened with the Friedman X?
What guitar is Richard Fortus playing in this video?
YEEEEESSS!!! 100W SUPROOOOOOO!!!!
I need to get one of those!
What model is the small supro
Has anyone seen that masterclass Phil mentioned? Would love to see it
Anyone know what the opening song is?
Phil & JJ Nichols are turning into each other.. Like they share a final form.
Is Phil doing handshake clinics at Sweetwater?
Dang, I thought we would've seen Phil go down the slide. …0:14 Hahaha! Mitch seems he needs to be a bit more relaxed.
Phil X is encyclopaedic when it comes to tone.
which Supro is this??
1606
First 35 seconds: 'who's got the biggest salami'
Phil X is such a cool dude... kind of guy that is very talented, but won't brag about it... he will just prove it. Also, seems like he would be the type to have some "far out" talks about life, religion, and the future...
Incredible - Chip Barkhouse The Drummist
He sounds like Otto from The Simpsons at 1:13
Love PhilX... He's like a cross between Sammy Hagar & a springer spaniel.
Nailed it! I laughed my ass off! That was great.
I like the guy, I like the guitar player, I like his search for his own tone, I liked his Friedman amp ... He's now with Supro ? Need to delve into that. I never did and I still dont't like his guitars ....but that's only my opinion of course. Thumbs up anyway.

A $1000 5 watt amp? I’m good.
He's wearing the same shirt my girlfriend has. Deathwish makes a hell of a coffee. Odin force blend is the best.
I like when Phil says "spongy" that he air grabs a set of... You know what.
next time "play" the Amp!! .. (please) :)
Does he have only on tshirt or many of the same?..... Honestly this guy is a hoot... You can't watch him for more than 15 seconds without just plain cracking up.

No sound demo?!
anybody know what supro amp is that small one i love small amps
Supro 1606 reissue
Phil X's Framus guitars have to be the sickest looking guitars ever, sad he left framus to go to gibson
Did he leave Friedman?
"People are like ' why do you have so many guitars?' - WHOA!! What people? I need names to give to Arya.
girth and a tight bottom end are very important...
I seen nuns go done the slide 😂😂🤣
A video that makes one feel sorry for all the aspiring guitarists who try to achieve the sound on bundle amp and guitar.
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh cooooooooooooollll
I just got turned on to Phil and I really dig the guy he a lot like Sammy Hager he's the real deal and super funny!
Picking harder = higher signal level. I fail to understand what he means about the Plexi sounding farty when you pick harder. Weird.
When you pick lighter you actually get more sustain and bloom and clarity since you arent forcing the amp to self limit and clip (that's to say running the amp hot like Phil does), that's the nature of the Plexi and it's power section which is looser and slower on the attack, that's the old school approach. Mitch lost weight for Phil. Congratulations Mitch.
Girth - very important
