This video is very special to me and I feel as though you are speaking to my heart. I work from home as an artist but I do not take care of myself. I do wear rags and old clothes as I am worried I will spoil them with paint and glue etc. I must try harder to be good to myself. I buy my clothes only from second hand shops..the prices are good and often the clothes are more interesting. I used to wear lots of black to hide but my husband has encouraged me to wear more colour. Sewing is such fun...I can sew but I dont make clothes for myself though I want to. Thank you for this beautiful video my friend..you are truly an inspiration. Love to your little helper.

Thank you Susanna! glad if it inspires you to be bolder with your clothes and colors, I also stain my clothes especially my sleeves from time to time but I have few tricks to hide the stains maybe will share that in another video, because it's not the end of the world. Clothes are meant to be used and make us pretty , not to remain on hangers perfect, as new in closets. . the hunt in second hand shops is always very exciting , you're right !!!Thank you for kind words Susanna I encourage you with all my heart :)

I enjoyed getting a look into your wardrobe :) as a child I loved to get dressed up like the characters in my fairy books. I remember making my first costume when I was 3: a piece of cloth put into shape with a stapler LOL. In High school I started to find my own style: a black balloon skirt over my mothers black petticoat with fishnet stockings a black jacket with puffed sleeves and a black men's hat I bought at the flee market in Amsterdam. I painted a short cotton jacket with acrylic paint and sewed my painted portrait of my favorite artist on a blanket on the back. I made my first blazer in red and black velvet. In Art school I started buying second-hand clothes or finding left over pieces from the fashion-department in the container after the fashion show of our school. . I made theatrical costumes and masks for a dress-up party me and my friends would give every year with another theme. Years later I made several costumes for the yearly Artist-fashion show in our town. Nowadays I only buy second-hand clothes since I don't like the current fashions; I love romantic historical inspired clothing! In my studio I wear the clothes I always wear with an apron and an old lab-coat when I have to paint furniture or spray-paint something. I worked in a second hand charity-shop for 2 years; there I have found some really beautiful pieces for my wardrobe.

That's very inspiring ! Thank you very much for sharing your clothes story Esther! I can imagine , in charity second hand shops , there are hidden treasures waiting to be chosen and liked again!

All your videos are all very fun and lovely BUT thank you so much for this one, what a treat!!!!
It is very inspiring! I too am a self-employed artist who works out of my home studio...and sadly in my PJ's almost all the time. I only dress to leave the house. Ugh....need to change that.
Thank you for your truths of clothing---- they truly make the person-- in the way of respect for self and your work, for a mind-set of inspiration and productivity. You just feel better dresse for success.
You inspired me to do this as well, and to wear aprons over the top of the nice clothes. I always liked aprons anyway for fashion.
Your whole person is a wonderful beauitful creative expression of art!!! (Side note: Hope you never cut your hair, it also is glorious. Mine is long as well, to my butt and will never cut it.)
I gave up jeans yrs ago but went back to them. Ugh... I really want to wear dresses all the time again.
I so love your layering of clothes too. I have odds and ends like that and am afraid to go out in public for fear of ridicule.
I do make my plain simple dresses, and have made aprons. I will start that again. I do also shop at thrift stores for all my clothes. The price and style is generally very good.
Yes please more lovely personable videos and can't wait to see your friend as well.
Thanks again, this, it made me smile, warmed my heart; it made my day.!!!! You are the sweetest!!!

Thank you Roksanna for this reply and your kind words, yes let me know how it works for you !! Once you do that you can't go back to wearing your pj's again I can promise you that. The approach to work and ideas and inspiration is totally different , I don't blame you, I ve done that for probably 10 years ...Dresses and skirts are so much more comfortable than jeans:) Fear of ridicule is something I don't have anymore as my friends are much bolder than me and they don't care for others opinions,. You may be surprised of people reaction actually , here in my citywhen I walk in the street I have tons of compliments on my clothing coming from ladies and men you wouldn't imagine a second they would lappreciate and like this style, as people are not used to see that here, it's really fun and very encouraging . You have long hair too!!mine are a bit shorter than they used to be as tthey are more manageable to do braids this way. Thank you very much I'm really glad you liked it! and sure the video at my friend's house is going to be a good one !

Oh how I loved looking through Your wardrobe ( 5 years later ) and I was out on the hunt for waistcoats today . I saw a gorgeous duster style coat on a post on FB just before the weekend and I went to check it out today as they only open 4 days a week. I thought if it was meant to be mine it would still be there... asked the Woman if it was still available as it wasn't in the same spot and it was in the photo . It is perfect and has flowers, hummingbirds and Egyptian styled Lotus flowers in lots of colours on the black Linen . Someone else had rung about it but had not turned up ...I almost skipped out of the tiny shop with Her (the coat hahaha) in my arms . I love layers too so the cooler months are my fave , love from New Zealand x ps off to pop Her out in the trees to cleanse energy and charge up with Tree energy x

Absolutely beautiful collection of clothes. I love the floral coat and your ballet skirts. You have a sense of merging vintage and new together to create a unique style. I used to wear long broderie anglaise skirts and blouses when I was in my early 20s. I don't see much of it anymore in stores. As an artist, I tend to paint in my nightwear as I find it comfortable. Love your videos. Btw love the rose wallpaper. 🎨 ✨

Yes that floral coat, I've seen you wear it often. And those waistcoats too. I like your style and wish I was brave enough to be more adventurous when it comes to clothes. I'm very plain and prefer tracksuits to wear around the house. I have always worn jeans when I go out of the house. I wear a uniform to work so don't have to worry what to wear everyday. I would also love to learn to sew my husband and I are going to buy a sewing machine after we buy a house next year so looking forward to doing all sorts of projects. I'd also love to learn to knit and crochet and so I cake make scarves, jumpers and cardigans. I keep dropping hints about it to my husband and even saying I'll make him a jumper for next winter! Looking forward to your next video with your friend. Thank you so much for sharing.

I love your wardrobe Laetitia! I wish I'd look good on your clothes as you do....lol. Like you said you have your own very unique style, and I now I'm thinking.... Uh...I should find my own style! I do have a couple of vests very similar to the ones you have. I love vests and they add so much character to our wardrobe. I have 2 dogs and I have to walk them around the park where I Iive , I do it three times a day, so I have to dress decently, but before I had the dogs I'd stay in my pajamas all day long...lol. :)))) Thank you for this very inspiring video, and I know I'll pay more attention now to what I'm wearing...lol :)))

You are so inspiring. I'm struggling with the realization that my old style no longer works and figuring out my new style. This is great encouragement to keep working on it. I'm looking forward to seeing your friend's wardrobe as I'd say my dream style is vintage inspired but a little darker. Thank you for the inspiration!

      @Merveillesenpapier  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Thank you Sally!! Glad it encouraged you to transition with your new style !!It can be tricky sometimes, but in your case you don't have the pressure of people from a super small town who are dressed all the same, and would look at you with a strange eye ; ) . The video with my friend is going to show a different side with darker colors, we will adress all these topics and similar thoughts that I gathered in the comments ! it's going to be a really fun one ! :)

Thank you for such a special glimpse into your closet & fantastic wardrobe!!! I really adore your personal style & find it so magical & inspirational!!! I could definitely imagine you being a costume designer! Clothes can definitely tell a story!!! I appreciate how you share that you "dress up" for your work as an artist. A personal trick for my days off; art endeavors & leisure days at home is to wear comfy, cotton maxi dresses as pajamas so I almost look "dressed" but it is my lounge-wear haha!!! ;) Paint splatters & all!!! I work at a hardware store so I am usually wearing jeans & t-shirts which can be so boring! I love to dress up creatively but where I live in Virginia, USA it is sometimes too unusual haha!!! So jeans & t-shirts are okay to blend in!!! I shop a lot at thrift stores for fun pieces & blouses. Thred-up online is a good second-hand website. My favorite American retailer is Lucky Brand. But I am really not about brands... the clothing speaks for itself no matter the source! I wish we could get away from "fast-fashion" & cheap clothing made by less fortunate people in poor countries. If we could just be more mindful of where everything came from, ya know? Recycling & repurposing is great! I look forward to seeing your collection of your own designs!!! I am also SO excited for Autumn to use fun layers of scarves & hats & boots!!! A beautiful time of year!!! Thank you for sharing the magic in your world!! Much love XOXO

Thank you Ashley, ok I don't really imagine how people dress in you corner of Virginia, we will discuss that on the upcoming video in my friend's wardrobe , it's a very interesting topic! you are absolutely right! I totally share your opinion on brands, I just included that at the end as I'm asked this question all the time ;) I hope too people would stop buying in these shops, and would understand they are ruining the planet doing so ....Thank you very much! Autumn is so exciting!!It's the best season, thank you for your sweet message ♥
