My husband is 100% for Ptsd alone and has 50% headache, 40% depression, 60% sleep apnea, 60% eczema, 10% tinnitus and left ear hearing loss with 0%. We did file for aid and attendance 2 yrs ago but was not awarded. Should we file again? He requires me to aid him 24/7 due to his mental state also his fingers are not bending due to his eczema. VA know about his memory loss and that he had incidents where he had the stove on and didn’t turn it off and burnt the whole pan. There are many incidents like this so I don’t leave him alone.
Jessica, I’ve been doing some research for Aid and attendance. and one of the criteria’s for receiving A&A is that you be 100% P&T, if he has that criteria then I’d recommend that you apply again and have a good service representative. And Dr fill out the application for A&A he should not mention the other ones he should stick to the first three the PTSD, the headaches, the depression. That should get him the A&A benefits.
Can the spouse of a 100%P&T veteran get Aid and Attendance? His wife had a stroke and never gained back her ability to walk and is bed ridden all day and needs help with all everyday activities.
My dad received aid and attendance at $432.17 mo. How is that calculated? He is 100% and we have to do everything for him. Food prep, dressing , changing adult diapers 3 times a day basically everything and constant baby sitting. Wondering should it be higher?
I'd go see a VSO- veteran service officer. When I first got out, I went to them and they got me all the paperwork I needed and showed me everything. Then we filled and filed it out together. It was free ALSO DAV is free also but I've never used them
I strongly recommend that you also apply for the VA Cargiver Program. It pays only the primary caregiver a monthly stipend. I applied due to my wife being a veteran rated at 100% due to her MS. My wife does also gets SMC Pay over $9500.00 a month due to the category she is rated at. My caregiver amount is $2807.00 a month. Again I strongly advise you to apply for the Caregiver Program
