Today was my schools day of silence in support of queer folk, and I had to explain to a kid what it was and eventually that conversation turned to why slurs with bad. He legitimately didn’t think slurs were bad and said he was just “tolerant” of them, humanity never ceases to amaze me.
I've been out of school for quite a few years now but I remember that being a very common attitude. In fact it felt like most people fell into the "slurs are sick, funny uh oh word" camp or the "tolerant" camp (whatever that even means, really it's indifference to the potential harm they cause others). We never would've been allowed to have a day of silence in solidarity with queer people, for example (my country's education system is extremely conservative, there's no Sex Ed of any kind and any mention of queer identities would immediately be called "inappropriate sexual content"). So in that sense I am encouraged by the fact that enough kids felt confident in having a silent protest. The fact that we're still having those conversations about "tolerating" slurs is disheartening though.
Its this weird mentality alot of particularly young boys have. I remember in 8th grade my boyfriend said he was friends with a neo nazi because "why should he hate him for a different opinion" i dont even know how youre a neonazi in middleschool but i thought that was crazy
@@RealElongatedMuskrat I’ve always really appreciated the day of silence, but it’s so upsetting to hear people mock and criticize it, I’ve always tried to educate people on topics like discrimination and the negative impact of slurs, but people tend rub it off. A lot of people have convinced themselves that you are the one that gives words power, and if you don't take it seriously it can't hurt you 🙃 They think they're progressive
@@Unfortunately_Mickey exactly, like I said to him, just because you personally don’t find offense in it, doesn’t mean others will react the same. Lady ballers is the best argument against “what if someone who’s not trans wants to compete as a woman” because it was supposed to be a documentary then they found out they had to actually transition medically to compete as a woman and despite significantly more financial incentives than you’d get from doing well in the sport no one was willing to do it. So they had to make it a fictional movie
1:20:30 the way this guy is telling this story is making me SO MAD. Richard Byrd was an aviator who went to antarctica on an expedition and then his stove malfunctioned and he got carbon monoxide poisoning. He was going insane hallucinating and he had to be rescued by a bunch of people because he refused to ask for help.
it’s one of those things that does sound kinda ??? at first but when you read more about richard byrd (and the state of expeditions like this to both poles in the early 20th century) you realize that anyone wanting to seriously explore those areas at that time was either a bit crazy or a bit stupid or both. he also totally lied about reaching the north pole by flight lol. but these people dgaf about any kind of historical context

Note on the WNBA and trans athletes. I’m a student and employee at a Woman focused university in Texas and Greg Abbott signed a bill banning trans athletes from college sports. The swimmer, Rylie Gaines, was here and it was incredibly horrific to see in our campus as we are extremely queer affirming. There was a large protest on campus, and we got a fair bit of press from it. But what is so annoying is 1) we don’t have swim (we have artistic swim but that’s a different sport) 2) there are no trans athletes competing in non co ed sports in Texas (to my knowledge) 3) we were selected because we have a women’s hall of fame and were forced to host a RESIGNING just to look like Abbott is “protecting women”. He’s not. Trans athletes are athletes and should compete with the gender they identify with and are

I remember when I was running a summer camp, there were a lot of kids that felt a real immediacy to be seen as “cool” by the leaders there and would often just recite back whatever info they found coolest to us. It was pretty sweet of them, but one kid either was online a little too early or had family into conspiracies, because that’s the info he thought would gain him the most cred with the adults. His recollection of them was SUPER spotty, though, and he didn’t understand like half the words coming out of his own mouth … and it was REMARKABLY similar to this comedian’s conspiracies, lol.

I think what draws some alt right people to nazi conspiracy theories is that they get to like rewrite history where the nazis were actually too clever and like where playing 4d chess so them getting absolutely dunked on by the soviets was a strategic move and not them being massive losers. It gives them an in to glorify how smart and better nazis were while having the cover of "but who's to say".
I always figured they try to rewrite nazi history so they have less in common with them. ie Rowling denying trans people were hunted and murdered in the holocaust while calling for the same thing today. psychology is fascinating

Going after trans women in sports is the ultimate example of bullying, a large group of people going after the two or three athletes just trying to get by playing a sport they love.

When talking on Donghua Jinlong, it’s actually incredible that they’ve gotten so popular. You’d think that TikTok isn’t their target audience, and for sure, most people scrolling won’t think twice about it. But some will, and now that it’s a trend (whatever the trend is) the name is popular and getting around quite well. Everyone will hear about Donghua Jinglong, and they’ll associate the product with the brand. It’s adjacent to what scrub daddy is doing, yeah, scrub daddy is a big meme, but I also see it in my sisters apartment every time I go over. People buy scrub daddy (yeah, yeah, it was on shark tank… but shark tank can only get your business going, it can’t keep it relevant. Scrub daddy did that on its own). People will buy Donghua Jinlong, if they ever need the product, because it’s in their mind! Even as a meme. Good marketing, sincerely, from a business major.

I appreciate the loose nature of the runtime for the podcast. I heard that guy say "Elizabethan Victorian", then go on to describe something more vaguely Regency, and nearly choked. Like I don't expect everybody to know what every decade of English historical costume looks like, but at the same time we're talking about three distinct eras across a half century of history. I've seen a reflex to call any vaguely historical dress 'Victorian', especially in North America, and it just strikes me as odd.

42:00 Dude, I'm a huge wrestling fan, I legitimately hate the fact logan paul is not only great at wrestling, but understands the more complex matters of it too.
With trans athletes, my go to is always: if there was a 7ft tall, muscular build cis woman, would you ban her from women's sports? If your answer is no but you would ban trans people, your concern isn't about physical differences between men and women you just hate trans people, if your answer is yes, (firstly, i don't believe you but) you don't need to mention trans -ness at all, just have height and weight categories or something
Those just aren't comparable, one of those is an example of extremely lucky genetics, the other has the opportunity to be not only taken advantage of, but to dismiss women that have worked hard to earn their spots despite the previous social stigmas. There are reasons there are two categories to begin with, one of those being the unfairness posed by the male genetics in a sporting context. Just have a genderless category and whoever wants to compete in that can.
@@KidWithoutACamera But the extremely lucky genetics doesn't dismiss other women's hard work? Why? And you wanna talk about stigma in sports, why are there gendered categories for pistol shooting? Chess? In some sports categories make sense, although I still think weight classes would work way better, but for a fair number of them, the categories exist because men thought it beneath them to compete with women. It's also worth pointing out that this is a purely hypothetical line of thinking anyway. The Olympics allowed trans people to compete as their gender from 2004, and yet the women's competitions haven't been swamped by these men who would apparently take hormones and completely change their body and life just to have a shot at winning a competition that usually gets paid less, when they could just put that money and focus into getting better at their sport. The few trans athletes that have been in the Olympics haven't dominated either. It's a solution without a problem, and it's used a lightning rod to dismiss the acceptance of trans people.
@@JhericFury It does dismiss their work, but to except them from play for something they were physically born with? Yeah I agree this is completely hypothetical, Gendered sports is most definitely a matter of men feeling above women, but there are other reasons which is why I said "one of the reasons". I agree that weight classes is a good option but in sports like football, it's easier for women to get seriously injured while in play and theres too many spots varying in weight to reliably categorize such teams. I do think overall we agree though, as I'm not against Trans-athletes, I'm just against the disgusting regulations and as Jarvis put it "hoops to jump through" that trans-athletes face in sports. I mean to only be eligible for something if you take hormones for long enough is crazy.

I think there will always be those people who don’t understand or appreciate days or weeks or months like today because that’s just what this world is, but having these moments is so crucial to creating a better future.
And I even had to explain that just because you personally haven’t experienced discrimination, doesn’t mean others don’t. It’s so irritating yet saddening that people are so close minded and self centered.
The talking points being how easy it would be to transition for your own gain juxtaposed with "well, i didn't mean ME... just theoretically." Is gold
What a weak ass cop out

You mean he wasn't a cat that met N*zi aliens?
An aviator called Richard BYRD! 😅
There's a version of the Sad Boyz intro in my brain where you two go:
"Welcome to Sad Boyz. I'm Sad..."
"...and I'm Boyz."
Waiting patiently for the day this dream becomes a reality.
maybe i'm jaded and have seen too much hate, but just hearing 3 cis men speak about trans people so plainly and calmly with such humanity made me emotional. so often we are subjects of debate, symbols in a conversation, stripped of our personhood by both sides of the political spectrum. i just really really love knowing there are decent cis people willing to stand up for me, y'know?
I know! I wish more people were like them
Yes I feel so comforted by this, we need more like it
Hearing such a refreshing take about how transphobia is stupid (unfortunate that it’s even refreshing for me rn) is so nice to see. Thank you guys, I love you.❤️
The far right just tries to distract the media with fake problems such as People Existing (apparently bad) to distract from actual problems. Facist cycle creates scare tactics and blames the left to try to prevent the working class from revolting in unlivable conditions that were caused by capitalism
It was a little weird when Eddy went on a rant about how slurs aren’t actually that bad and how he should get to “say the cool ones like everyone else” but I really enjoyed his new video so I think he deserves a pass this time 👍
Holy crap ... My friend introduced me to you guys a few weeks ago and we watched some of your vids and now y'all are laughing your asses off at my content this is an honor ❤
Shoutouts to you for being funny

I LOVE UR ACCOUNT SM
I’m so glad they caught your factory floor sneak peak
Love the matching mustaches glasses and button shirts combo
something that really stuck out to me was when they were talking about womens basketball and jordan said “oh no what if there was a dragon, what if something scary happened”. like that’s really what it’s like man, “what if something horrible happened and i didn’t have my blankie”. i’m gonna dismiss some transphobic “talking points” like this more often, thank you sheriff adika.

He’s not. Trans athletes are athletes and should compete with the gender they identify with and are
If they wanna compete in co ed go ahead but how can anyone think they that a trans guy should be able to compete with actual women ??
Omg I remember that. Abbott is such a tool. Hope he gets voted out soon.
@@mchopz you are right trans guys should not compete with women, thank you for being a trans ally.
@@mchopzwell a trans guy would be a female, I think you mean trans woman
@mchopz I totally agree!! Trans men should compete with men and trans women should compete with women! People should compete with the same gender!!
i dont really ever comment on podcasts and idk who will see this but i love diana's content. She's one of the best parody accounts in the world. I love her trucker big rig pilled series. She's genuinely one of the funniest accounts for the chronically online

The whole “two primes” thing is a whole mess because I work for a company that advertises prime. It’s confusing to ME when people request signs from us.

I love the way when Jarvis leaves to use the restroom he like shimmies and slides along the floor in his socks
I remember when I was younger & we had a wide polished open floor space like that that I would slide along the floors at any chance I got, so idk just seeing Jarvis do that same little glide made me so happy like “oh wow I do that too that’s so cute look at him zoom!!”
the matching glasses/mustache/light colored button up shirt combo lol
I remember when I was running a summer camp, there were a lot of kids that felt a real immediacy to be seen as “cool” by the leaders there and would often just recite back whatever info they found coolest to us. It was pretty sweet of them, but one kid either was online a little too early or had family into conspiracies, because that’s the info he thought would gain him the most cred with the adults. His recollection of them was SUPER spotty, though, and he didn’t understand like half the words coming out of his own mouth … and it was REMARKABLY similar to this comedian’s conspiracies, lol.
jarvis calling transphobes “freaks” made me smile for the first time all day today
One of ussss.
Jarvis talking about women's sport is amazing. Talking casually about women's ball grows the game
Admiral Bird is totally a name for a cat, I thought he was talking about a literal cat

Slime said on The Yard podcast he has a crush on Jordan and he was the funniest person he has ever met. Let's go Jordan!❤❤❤
I just want to thank whomever meticulously subtitled this whole podcast, I turned them on fully expecting them to be auto-generated and barely comprehensible but was pleasantly surprised to see otherwise. Your hard work doesn’t go unnoticed and is appreciated ❤
The glycine ad feels like something id find at 3 am with 5 views and laugh unreasonably hard but no one would know what I’m talking about so I think it’s fun that it’s gained so much attention. Like there was one time I kept getting an ad for the worlds most beautiful dog (it was just a video of a dog staring at the camera wagging its tail with no audio) and the website it linked to was just two buttons that didn’t do anything and that was the funniest shit in the world to me
Going after trans women in sports is the ultimate example of bullying, a large group of people going after the two or three athletes just trying to get by playing a sport they love.
I'd say the athlete with the bone structure and muscle mass of a man playing against women is the ultimate bully, but go on and have fun in your delusional world 😵💫😵💫😵💫
Honestly, I could listen to the three of you all day every day. Loving the direction you guys are going and how you feel about your platforms and the messages you send. I think the humility the three of you show really highlights the value you have for others and for improving peoples lives.
I watched the Jarvis lifestyle video high and I couldn’t stop laughing at the transitions between the photos of Jarvis it really gave off funeral vibes
That Glycine girlie is Cities by Diana. She's really funny and makes lore based videos about like walkable cities from like a satirical perspective. Tuff stuff

Good marketing, sincerely, from a business major.
also, this fucking woman just sold me the shit out, on fucking Donghua Jinlong. Doggamn. I’m buying Donghua Jingling the next time I need Glycine. If ever. Maybe now I need it because of her!!
Thank you guys for articulating so much of what bothers me about the trans sports discussion. As a trans guy, I have people I have just met bring it up and it's like they look right past me and make my personhood into an inane political discussion. I'm just out here trying to get by like everyone else!
Still gotta finish but No. Just no. 🙅🏾♀️ I’m sick and tired of these people saying the N word and extra comfortable whenever they see me or have a thought of me. Last episode Jarvis said his last barber basically called him that for no reason. He shouldn’t have had to go through that
I didn’t let that sh*t fly in my childhood, that was just my part of Chicago, and I wouldn’t let it fly now. Bc people aren’t entitled to everything & if you think you are then you can say it my face, rn, but you wouldn’t. People like that love to say it in private too & I see right through them
I have a lot of cherished memories of listening to Eddie on some podcast while working.
The strange thing is I can't remember the name of the podcast or anything about it.
it's crazy that they are talking about the social media in youth thing cause I graduated now but I was always self conscious about how many followers I had and it was like a crazy measure of popularity that no one talks about
i get so hyped whenever they mention their shared birthday cause it's mine too
it's always nice to see eddy on the podcast! I really miss him on his old one sometimes and I regret that I never had the chance to send any fun fan mail :) oh well life goes on and it's good to know he's doing well
Its wild how like a few years can change shit. Like for me growing up, social media was a thing, but scrolling though like a feed from an algorithm wasn't. Like for me as a kid, social media was facebook, and you added everyone in your year on facebook and the stuff you saw was people from those people, it wasn't perfect but it was agruably the most social social media has been for me because it was a time where social media was mostly just contacting people i knew in real life
Synopsis: tree guys with great mustaches being fellas.
they even photosynthesize!
One of them is actually Sudowoodo
Ah yes the famous "Elizabethan (1550-1600) -Victorian (1860-1900) " fashion that is then described as Georgian (1730-1800) fashion gotta love it.
god... back in my day (I am gen z you know in the 2000s) there would be so many jabs and shade thrown towards WBNA, female sports basically, it's so cool seeing the tables turn and the sports women are being taken seriously. fucking LOVE IT.
just wanted to comment to say i have been a huge fan of Donghua Jinlong's Food-Grade Glycine for a while now, glad to see it getting the respect it deserves
Jordan’s grey hair is soooo good
i love jarvis’s new little hair
The joy I feel at this upload cannot be expressed
Jordan is extremely well-spoken. All of them are of course, but I love when he gets real inbetween jokes
I'm convinced Sam Tripoli doesn't even know where Antarctica is because he said the explorer was sent "up" there
Thinking there's an "up" or "down" on a globe is equally damning, no?
It's not in space?
I appreciate the loose nature of the runtime for the podcast. Partially because it's cool to get these longer episodes, but mostly because it adds to the feeling of y'all just hanging out discussing things and it not being some full-fledged, thoroughly regimented production. I hope it always stays this relaxed in terms of Hangin Out™
the fact that the video about Jarvis is just the reading his Wikipedia page 😭
Everyone's hair looks so nice. Not important but just thought it's nice to see a compliment every once in awhile.
I always say that Bo Burnham was the first person to say "Your phones are poisoning your minds" and have me believe them. Because boomers have the same conclusion but they landed there by chance out of pure fear of the new and unknown. Bo Burnham knows what it's like to grow up on the internet, he's seen its highs and its lows.
HARD agree on the Danny/Drew thing. It annoys me so bad. They’ve both addressed that it’s not funny anymore and it’s so annoying
"where are you gonna get your glycine now?"
I save these episodes to listen to on Monday to take the edge off and this one was so difficult to wait for 😭
i go to the university of iowa- so sick to see jarvis listing off the women’s basketball players! so happy women’s bball is getting so much more hype. caitlin clark effect goes crazy 💕
SCs head coach is absolutely one of the most well spoken, kind and talented people ever. she’s SO damn cool. was a great game. i’m so glad there was so much hype around WBB this year.
being from SC and going to USC, seeing that clip of Dawn Staley made me SO happy and proud for once. Things are so goddamn dire down here and I never see big figures here talking in support, so that was a breath of fresh air.
Yes i am a trans person and you discussed things very important to me and my existence but more importantly to me is telling jordan i love his hair when it’s slightly longer

Love how they left Eddy out of the thumbnail as a nice surprise for us :)
1:23:48 I've read Admiral Richard Byrd's biography. There is a distinct lack of mention of this in there. Also I'm obsessed with how Sam Tripoli said Byrd's last name like it's the hardest word he's ever said when it's literally just bird with a y.
I love that you’re all wearing matching shirts and matching mustaches.
This implies they can take off the mustache
@@KidWithoutACamera I agree, it is bad to bar people because of something they were born with...like being trans.
Ok, fine sure.
My go to is, let the professionals do their job

You guys talked about Logan Paul as a wrestler and so I just want everyone to know, Wrestlemania just happened and the entire show there was a Prime logo stamped in the middle of the ring mat. Hes I think the US champion? He had a Wrestlemania match against Randy Orton and Kevin Owens and he beat them. He came out with a guy in a Prime mascot costume and it turned out to be ishowspeed who saved him from getting pinned. he beat RANDY ORTON and KEVIN OWENS two of the ALL TIME GREATS!! And you guys were right the worst part is that he’s like, a good wrestler. I don’t even usually watch WWE I’m more of an AEW guy but I watched with my friends and it made me so mad that he’s good
