There is also another musical moment in Alan Wake 1. During final journey to Cauldron Lake to save Alice - you go through old storage hangar and you find a radio to listen - which will lead to a radio host Pat wishing you luck and putting on music which he thinks will help - "WAR" by Poets fo the Fall (aka Old Gods of Asgard in-game) - after which you get attacked by one of the biggest wave of Taken in the game. Heck, that song - "WAR" - even has a music video on "Poets of the Fall" channel which features... Alan Wake searching for Alice and fighting off Taken till its climax where he seemingly ends up running out of bullets and protects Alice till the sunrise comes with the last flare refusing to let her go while surrounded.
“Control” by old gods of Asgard (poets of the fall) from the previous game is the best video game song I’ve ever heard. One of my top 5 favorite songs ever. The ashtray maze was absolute genius I can’t wait to play Alan Wake 2. If you have never played Control I can’t recommend it highly enough. Also Poets of the fall did some amazing music for Max Payne.
It was good, but imo AL2 musical scene is much more effective. It's also worth noting that it tells the background story for people who haven't played original.

There's a mission in 'Control' that's part of the DLC. It's not a musical number by Old Gods of Asgard but it's a cool music sequence where you're riding through a tunnel after an object of power while some pretty good retro music is playing in the background.
I loved that mission! Such an unexpected surprise, and it's a side mission so there's a good chance people played the DLC and completely missed it. Was my favorite part honestly.

As much as I loved Herald Of Darkness in AW2, Control's ashtray maze is such a perfect unison of music, gameplay, visuals, and technical wizardry that it remains my favorite Remedy moment.
I played Alan Wake 10 years ago, which I heard Children of the Elder God in the game first time. It was the beginning of me getting into rock music and still listening to Poets of the Fall's music. It's a really good memory of my life.
Yesterday i;ve played trough the musical episode in AW2, till Today i'm blown away. I though that the fight on a big stage in AW1 was Epic but Brothers&Sisters, Old Gods of Asgard did it again. Remedy you have nailed it. This is most epic thing i'have ever seen in video game, and i'm active player since 1990. Can't get it out of my head. Poets of the Fall are unbelievable, they deserve a no1 prize for that. And road for the Best Game Of The Year for AW2 is on !

When you know this is a patern in nearly all Remedy games (epic battle vs wave on an epic old gods song....as well as the bizarre tv vignettes lol), and then you play Alan Wake 2, and you know its coming somewhere...and then you get to the scene when the brothers are about to blast their song on the top of the bus...for real, i got goosbumps, shivers down my spine and a insta-crispy heavy metal face...this is pure art, pure feeling.

You are entirety correct. I'm guessing it isn't in this video because Amarican Nightmare didn't get a remaster like the original so the person who made this video hasn't played it.
I think Ilkka looks frightened and confused in the same facial expression not just because thats how he looks when he isnt expressing emotion but because him in the music video isnt actually him in the game, he has no real consciousness and is just doing things, thats why I think in the sam lake thing with Mr.Door's show it seems like he is out of it until Alan tunes in to the TV and suddenly gives him emotion, and thats why he starts to look normal when Alan tunes in VS just in the tv or in the music video
Dang I forgot just how much more action like the first game was instead of full on horror like the 2nd game I like how I didn't need to fight off wave after wave of enemies every 20min.
When people talk about Remedy including themes of polytheism they always talk about Ahti, when these guys are also a pretty good inclusion that fits their lore

i kinda miss comdedy/funny guy like barry in the first alan wake, his appearance and his scene with you killing off the eveil during stage concert was so amazing i forgot the game suppose to be a thriller/horror i wish alan wake 2 have it own character like barry but yeah they seem went full horror this time, so someone like barry probably didnt fit well in it
