The fact that David Harewood said he had never sang before this and then goes and serves these vocals really shows true talent! He's the perfect casting choice :D
This had the same effect on gaming in general like playing Portal had on me. Something new and innovative and out from the left field. Rarely in today's games you get the true Wow factor. Sure you can get the wow from pure graphical prowess or mechanics, but the truly wonderful experiences are the whole package. Technical, atmosphere, sound, game mechanics/ideas etc. These kind of moments and games stay for years.
I’m 17 hours in and I can legitimately say this is top 3 maybe even too 2 games I’ve ever played. Every mission feels fresh. What a damn job by remedy! Like they said go buy it!
Back in 2003, while playing Max Payne 2, I was thrilled to learn that Markus 'Captain' Kaarlonen was on the band that played 'Late Goodbye'. Having been in love with tracked music since the mid 90s, and still living on a healthy does of Unreal 98's and Deus Ex's umx files played off of Modplug Player, I'm filled with such warmth by the Remedy games with POTF music so intricately integrated! And I haven't even talked about how good POTF music is, going all the way back to Captain's mod music! The only thing that tops this magic is coming full circle of sorts: from being a teenager loving the games and music myself to seeing my teenage kids picking up Alan Wake 1 and loving it + POTF music!
I was BLOWN AWAY by this musical. I Went into closet and was like “What the hell, I’ll go back into Alan’s mind.” Instead I got epic power metal with kaleidoscopes of shifting dancing scenes. So based.
And they say gaming isn’t good anymore. This was like one of the coolest craziest parts of a game i seen. Very unique and different than most games. Alen wake 2 has to get game of the year
i just played this chapter an immediately had to look it up on youtube. this game is straight up legend. definitely my favorite part in the game so far. yet another banger soundtrack.
They way the light comes through the videos onto the character confused my fucking brain so much. Also, this is defintely the most real game ever, and I feel like we'll be saying that for 5+ years.
I have a feeling this came later in the game at some point, because the lyrics kind of sum up the whole package. Perhaps Remedy moved it earlier so it wouldn't tread on Saga's own POTF moment? Either way, my gaming highlight of at least this year. Absolutely spellbinding design, especially in how it will just riff while you piss around and then catch the bar to progress the game/song forward. Looking forward to hearing the studio version when Old Gods Of Asgard release their new album.
what they did with this scene is actually fcking genius - they took place which for most of us associates with "good times", safe, secure place - rock concert and corrupted it with fear, they created mental divide which worked on my brain exactly how it was meant to be - one part of my brain was jamming with the music and the other part was scared of shadow monsters - in combination creating totally new experience for me - scared dancing. :D
After the Old Gods sequence in Wake 1, and completely one upping themselves in the now infamous Ashtray Maze sequence in Control, I didn’t think Remedy would be able to top it. But they proved me wrong. It’s awesome in today’s gaming landscape to see such creative risks being taken and absolutely nail the landing. This scene was especially jaw dropping given how dark the rest of Wake 2 is. Absolute masterclass and I’m even more hyped that Control 2 is in development.
This is a true gem among video games! I haven't experienced this much pleasure from a game in a long time, both in terms of the overall gameplay and this particular episode. The seamlessly integrated music narrative, the powerful vibes reminiscent of the first and third seasons of Twin Peaks, clever references, and the fourth wall breaking - it's all just perfect. If this isn't a work of art, then what is? Now I love *Remedy* even more! 💕
I just played this and I'm searching for everyone who had played this. Ashtray Maze was tough to top but man they went absolutely bonkers with this❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
This segment is brilliant. Playing this at night with headphones on was one of the biggest (if not THE biggest) immersive experiences I had. Props to the developers, actors, singers and the whole team, this is awesome.
Remedy really put their whole Remussy into this segment. Holy shit, I was grinning ear to ear the whole time. A game hasn't captured this feeling of pure joy in me in a long time. Poets of the Fall NEVER MISS. Sam Lake is the closest Western Devs have to Kojima. Just an auteur who puts whatever crazy ass shit he wants and its so much better for it.
With an ever-growing world of live service, battle royale juggernauts of AAA rated games, its nice to see a narrative driven, single player story like this. As someone who works in gaming, I tell everyone I meet that the guys at Remedy Entertainment are some of the best in the world at creativity and ensuring that you'll remember every game you play under their umbrella. Sam Lake will go down in the written history books of video gaming alongside the greats, like Hideo, Neil, Todd, and Marcus.
Been a fan of Sam's games since Max Payne when it first came out. This reminds me of those corridor/dream sequences in the first game, has his style just with much more advanced tech. So glad Alan Wake 2 walked away with some wins at the game awards. 2023 has been the most stacked year for games in the last few years making it even tougher to win an award. Because of so many big titles released If your game is slightly "mid" it will get left behind by the "anomalies" such as Alan Wake 2/Baldur's Gate 3 . Some of the big boys went home empty handed. Remedy pushed the envelope and I look forward to their next game :)
This game is a must play! 10/10 from me. So good.

Can't believe it has been 6 months already. Wish I could play this again chapter for the first time, it was so f good, I didn't want it to end 😭😭😭
The song is amazing. It doesn't feel the same on the video, you must play it to feel it.
Honestly one of the BEST scenes in videogaming history so far. It literally came "out of the blue" and this song is so catchy to sing along. Wow!
Best collaboration ever. Also they seem like they were having lots of fun making those videos😅
Why is Alan Wake 2 SO EXTRA?!
I LOVE IT!
The smile on my face during this scene was of childhood joy. Thank you Remedy
The fact that David Harewood said he had never sang before this and then goes and serves these vocals really shows true talent! He's the perfect casting choice :D
20 minutes of pure rush. God bless Sam Lake
All the love in the world to Poets of the Fall. Now and forever.

@@jmb9040Congratulations! Here’s your edgelord trophy.
11:23 I love this part so much, It's such a clever little idea to show off those visuals and then have actual taken attack Alan
Never had a such a long lasting goosebumps in a videogames in 30 years. This game is a revolutionary piece of Art.
FUCKING OUTSTANDING.
Ого, а что тут Дрю забыл

Одна эта сцена уже делает игру года
Honestly one of my favourite gaming moments of all time. This game is next level. Loving it.
LAST OF US 2 IS BETTER
@@jmb9040Was it? I hardly remember it.
Alan wake 2 is the best ever made in videogame history. Period.
The moment I realised by reading comments this is a actual mission in the game man I wasn’t gonna play Alan wake 2 but this shit looks godlike
Go buy it man. It's incredible. This mission barely scratches the surface of the insanity that happens.
You can't miss this outstanding game, it will be a crime man 😁
I’m 17 hours in and I can legitimately say this is top 3 maybe even too 2 games I’ve ever played. Every mission feels fresh. What a damn job by remedy! Like they said go buy it!
I hate people like you. "I wasn't gonna play, but". Screw you. You're a poser. You don't deserve this game.
Piggybacking to say this gets my GotY, even after having purchased and completed TotK, Spider-Man 2, BG3, etc…
Survival horror fucks
This is the only time a game has left me utterly speechless. I loved it.
One of the single best sequences of any game I’ve ever played in my 40 years
This game is a masterpiece, if it wasn't for BG3 (that is also amazing), this would be the GOTY.
200,000,00 out of 10 this is amazing
The dance sequence HAS to be inspired by the Peacemaker intro! Goddamn fantastic!

If I never discovered this video I wouldn’t be playing Alan Wake 1 right now. Hoping the series will be amazing!
Hahaha this was so freaking crazy! I loved it! Love my Poets of The Fall and their alter-ego!

Holy shit, how the chorus foreshadows the story is fucking crazy...
Still remember oceanview motel where doctor darling sing in on of the motel room 🤣🤣 this is excatly the same
dynamite!
this has to be one of the best video game moment I've experienced
This is when ppl really enjoy making the game!
what they did with this scene is actually fcking genius - they took place which for most of us associates with "good times", safe, secure place - rock concert and corrupted it with fear, they created mental divide which worked on my brain exactly how it was meant to be - one part of my brain was jamming with the music and the other part was scared of shadow monsters - in combination creating totally new experience for me - scared dancing. :D
This broke me I hope this wins game of the year
After the Old Gods sequence in Wake 1, and completely one upping themselves in the now infamous Ashtray Maze sequence in Control, I didn’t think Remedy would be able to top it.
Man, at the end Ahti is singing, he is from "Control" game, cool catch
It was simply divine right there too 10/10
I play games since... idk 2000... this was one of the best game levels of all time... loved every second
Same thought, great addition to Wolfenstein 2, Snake Eater, Arkham Asylum and the others :)
all that and just "catchy right?"
i fucking love the writers for this section
I just played this and I'm searching for everyone who had played this. Ashtray Maze was tough to top but man they went absolutely bonkers with this❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
Didn't think anything could outdo BG3's Raphael boss fight this year, but here we are.
This scene alone is a masterpiece in meta narrative, it deserves a Game Award
I'm so happy that Sam Lake fought for keeping it in the game.
One of the most unique sequences in a game, I just played the part today and it’s easily my favorite gaming moment of the year hahahaha, just amazing
When we thought Take Control and Ashtray Maze was a pinnacle of Remedy's cooperation with Poets of the Fall - they brought us this🤯🔥😍
THANK YOU Remedy and Poets of the fall for co-existing ❤❤️
This segment is brilliant. Playing this at night with headphones on was one of the biggest (if not THE biggest) immersive experiences I had. Props to the developers, actors, singers and the whole team, this is awesome.
This has got to be one of the most unique levels of any game I have ever played. Killer music!
There was no need to spend all this time money and effort for a musical but the fact they did is proof we can have good things
Kojima's a hack with delusions of grandeur.
