Alan's final lines refer to Joseph Campell "Hero's Journey", where in Return the Hero comes back after the adventure "with wisdom or spiritual power over both worlds", but here he says many worlds
Sam lakes loves the heroes journey
@@pedrobernardes98It's all you need.
god i love the symbolism here. the bullet hole, representing his sacrifice that represents him embracing collaboration and connection instead of sole authorship and isolation, forms a third eye, a symbol of enlightenment, which lines up perfectly with this part of the Hero’s Journey.
can’t wait for the DLC/Control 2/Alan Wake 3/whatever else remedy and sam lake put their insane genius minds to doing
The fact that you need to play the game again to get this ending is actually clever, because you need to go through it again, through the loop once more.
@crystalwings4520 it's not a loop, it's a spiral 😄
All of that is forthcoming.
@@DemonVido Alan Wake 2 is a masterpiece can't wait for night springs
Quantum Break in background be like: 😐
It definitely brought a tear to my eye. After 13 years of dreaming and wishing to see some conclusion to Alan's story finally happened. I gotta thank Remedy that they never gave up on finishing this story....
but it isnt finished (and this isnt even the real ending)
@@Exel3nceit is it’s the new ending, they did the same in the original game and used the new ending as canon
@@Exel3nce it is the real ending though the final draft was supposed to show us what happened after Allen got shot and to show us if Logan was alive and to free Alan from the spiral he in
We will see if that's the real ending after the two dlcs this spring and fall
Brought a tear to my eye, too. How could Mr. Wake rob the world of an eternal deerfest
When Alan Wake dropped in 2010, I was 15. My parents had moved to Florida. I was on my own from there on out, I was working under the table while living with friends of my family, and bought the first one and played it. The ending had always stuck with me, I’m 29 now, in the 13 year gap, myself, like many others went through their trials in life, I figured out what I wanted to do, and wanted to be. I just wanted to be a working man, and be a father. My son was born January 23rd 2023, and then I had gotten this game October of the same year. I work full time, have my own place, and am being the best father I can be to my son. I always found it a funny coincidence that I had reached where I wanted to be in life the same time Alan Wake 2 dropped, makes me feel a special connection to the series. We all have our Departures, we all have our Initiations, and we all have our Returns. We’re truly all on our own Hero’s Journey.
Bruh, that was beautiful! Thank you for sharing!
Watch our for your cornhole, bud
you work full time?
what is your work?
do you enjoy it?
Well that was really inspirational. I remember the last time I played AW1 and now after all these years just played AW2 after I got myself a gaming laptop. I have to agree this game is even better than the first. Congrats for your family and realizations and I wish you a happy life from Bucharest :).
@@myladychaos thank you for reading ❤️
“The master of many worlds” I wonder if that’s gonna play into what Mr. Door was talking about earlier, where Alan “keeps opening doors, peeking in”
Alan knows there are other realities out there, so for sure
@@boogabear257 But if you look closely you spot there is a janitor cart. Ahti will take care of the problem and has a nice talk with Alan i am sure.
Reminds me of Bioshock Infinite and Elizabeth´s power to travel across time and space, would be kinda epic to see something like that in Alan Wake 3, this time no trapped but co-working with FBC to stop some monsters again
@@vladole4176 I think it’s very likely that Alan will eventually travel to other realities/dimensions but i doubt it’s gonna be in close coordination with the FBC.
Like Sam Lake said: Alan has sort of become the master of the supernatural, but 13 years in The Dark Place have made him a little loopy, and his powers, though raw, lack any sort of restraint. He’s very talented but not until the very end of the game does he even realise what his visions really are.
The FBC value control (see what i did there?) and caution above all else, so they wouldn’t bring Alan in unless they have absolutely no other choice.
As for Alan Wake 3: My guess is that Mr. Door is becoming some sort of Nemesis towards Alan, and seeing as he can roam the realities freely, Alan is gonna have to find a way to do the same. Probably through Saga.
It's not a Lake. It's a Sam Ocean.
An ocean of creativity. Hollywood can learn a lot from this man
@@mr.heisenberg1570They don't have time to learn from such small fish. Didn't you know? They have to release their newest masterpiece in 6 months, bLoCkBuStEr series shitfart45 with a budget of 600 morbillion.
@@mr.heisenberg1570 Hollywood doesn't deserve him
I can't even put into words how happy this ending makes me, just for Saga alone 😭
Hopefully no dark dlc twist 😱
@@ottoovelha6438 hopefully a BIG dark dlc twist 😈 as Alan says: horror stories need the characters to pay a price. Bring it on!
@@clarenceoveur9497He has risen above that now. Strictly adhering to the horror genre is one of the obstacles he put in his own way unnecessarily. Like Mr. Door and Sam Lake himself said. A lot of Alans "rules" aren't actually true, and were just a reflection of his own self-imposed limitations.
And Alan ofc
What about Alice
He makes it out of the dark place that’s a good ending
This was the best ending they could give us. You finally get confirmation that Logan is alive and it looks like Alan is leaving. Still some unanswered questions, but considering we don’t know when we’ll get a third game it’s perfect.
two dlc are coming soon
I think the cliffhanger served the story better, to be honest. It’s as Alan says: horror stories need the characters to pay a price. It makes no sense for the story to abandon its tone and suddenly be sunshine and rainbows.
@@primevaltimesplenty of horror stories have happy endings or at least endings where the protagonists succeed. There is not a hint of sunshine and nary a rainbow to be seen; horror doesn’t mean “at the end, everyone is either dead or writhing in abject misery due to having flaws” it just means spooky shit happens.
Don’t listen to Alan’s ideas about writing. He’s usually wrong, or approaching the ideas in a wrong headed way. There’s a reason his biggest fan is Rose fucking Marigold and it’s not because he writes highbrow genius Great American Novels; he’s a hacky, belligerent alcoholic who needed thirteen years and armies of helpers to fart out a book that wasn’t an airport paperback crime thriller about a pissed off detective scowling his way through murder mysteries. He was literally submerged in the fabled Creative Juices and managed to maintain his writers block for over a decade, spending all his energies on imagining himself being harangued by fans and praised on talk shows. Until this precise moment he’s been a shambling, wretched thing with a bloated, swollen ego weighing him down like Quasimodo’s hunch, and his obsession with “tHe StOrY hAs To Be DaRk AnD eDgY” has kept him stuck in place and harmed his loved ones.
This ending was well and truly fought for and earned. Get over whatever anxieties and neuroses about “happy endings” being for babies you have left over from your middle school english classes and evaluate endings in relation to the stories being told, you will enjoy things more
@@primevaltimes There's more ways it can go to that still. Alice is still in the dark place and she might be the one who ends up "losing"
@@primevaltimes That's EXACTLY why they played it out like that. Not giving the player everything at once. Excited for the DLC.
This ending was perfect for Alan finally escaping to make it back and Saga to hear her daughter is alive. Best ending ever.
I think the ending is intentionally delayed. As for me, I just finished the game today and immediately came looking for this ending. When you finish the game for the first time, the credits role and Alan awakes and says “it’s not a loop, it’s a spiral”. I think the intention was to have the final draft playable right when you finish. Alan processes the whole thing as the final scene is playing. “We’ve met here before”. The fact that it’s a spiral, they wrote the ending that would finish it all and it had to be played out one last time to take effect. Hence, the Final Draft.
It's also a callback to Max Payne 2. You got the "true" ending only when you replayed the game on the highest difficulty.
eh idk, seems cheap
So I gotta play it all again ?
@@raydingle91 No, you just watch it on YT
@@SeeWildlifestraight wisdom^ skip those cheap jumpies and get to the content
Just finished the ending and i love how we're pretty much directly where we were from the beginning, with alice in the dark place. It fits the 'its not a loop, its a spiral' so well, because we might be where we were 13 years back but were on different ground, different circumstances that will allow for some interesting things later down the line.
Either there will be an AW3 or no, this ending fits perfectly for both options.
"Thank you my love" - Tom Zane
Alan wake Zane bad
Better ending than original loved everything went good at the end
Not all. Alice is still in the dark place. So Alan will most likely go back there to save her.
@@Dak1624 Don't forget that the Anderson brothers are also there.
Yea, I agree ,but its still a great ending. Alice helping him ascend out of the spiral. He says he is the master of many worlds so im assuming that will help him get Alice out of the dark place.
Anderson brothers will be fine.@@cezzardke732
@@HeLios77716 they still need to address Zane, the Alan that called himself, the Alan that left notes for Rose, etc
He finally figured out how to write the ending. With the help of so many. Can’t wait to see where he and Saga go in the future of this world.
Do you know what happened to Alice after this ending?
@@shefo8479it seems Alice has overcame the dark place, in a way. She figured it out so much faster than Alan and went even further. Wherever she is, looks like she isn’t endangered
@@LittleAngryCarrots I mean, is she out of the dark place or is she still trapped?
@@LittleAngryCarrots all we know that she is alive not dead
I couldn’t help but smile finally hearing Logan answer. But I can’t help but feel this just isn’t even close to being over. Scratch might be gone but that was just The Dark Presence creating something to mess with Alan. That resonance is still out there creating noise. It’s not just as simple as getting rid of the stage one boss when the mastermind is still out there. The Dark Place still exists and there’s no way it’s completely shut off. We have seen what happens when it combines with The Hiss with Heartmans story…it’s still connected to at least The Oceanview motel in many thresholds if not by other means like Cauldron Lake or minor Overlaps we used in AW2 or worst the projector in Control with a slide that may just yet be discovered.
We have won the battle and this is a great calm but the war isn’t over and the true storm hasn’t even started. That scares me. What happens when The Hiss gets out of The Oldest House, spreads like wildfire with The Darkness still being able to cross realities?
What if Northmore breaks out or worse gets infected by The Hiss and The Dark Presence?! Some writer struggling to control his own stories, Jessie and Polaris are not equipped to fight such things. What is Alex Casey going to detective his way into slow mode shooting at it while the FBC is trying to do damage control not even knowing what Mr. Door is even trying to do outside of all this mess? Dr. Darling…we need you back buddy. You are one of our only hopes. The trilogy has been finished, however that was only the first few chapters of this Space Oddity Odyssey.
I was a drunk and a drug addict for years.. I've been clean for a while now.. This game, in part, seems an allegory for fighting addiction.. The revelation at the end, that it is not a loop, it is in fact a spiral, is a revelation that many cured addicts can attest to.. Along with the strange, dark and ominous journey that Alan has gone through, this too is very much juxtaposed with fighting demons within.. A more poetic display of this war, I have not seen in this medium.. Bravo...
Congratulations man
Differently hits different when you tie it to mental illness/addictions allegory. When I think about that I even prefer the original ending more. The “it’s a spiral” totally felt very hopeful giving us clarity that we can make it out of whatever darkness that hold us
Good to hear that you overcame addiction and are well. I also think that the Dark Place is an allegory that refers to our within demons. I was looking for people's interpretation of the Dark Place and it is interesting to see how it varies base on people's own experiences. I related the Dark Place to depression, something that I was diagnosed some years ago.
@@JJose13 Depression and Addiction are kin, so it's very much the same battlefield.. Stay strong and light up the darkness..
Not everything is an artsy redemption or metaphor for your drug habits
Wait, the phrase Master of Many Worlds was on Tim's board! I thought this was supposed to be the title for Mr. Door?
I have a feeling Mr.Door will be the next big bad, either in one of the DLCs or the next game.
Alan goes into the Dark Place to save Alice. Alice does the same back in return for Alan. So now we're back to square one.
At least now Alan have a will to write AND ideas of how to proceed:
1) Write meeting with mr. Door and find a way to get Alice and Himself out.
2) Write Jesse visiting lake in Control 2 to get Alice,Alan and lake power out to real world
3) Ahti always around, Darling also, Asgard bros.
@@Kairax I don't know if we'll ever get Alan Wake 3 but now that AW and Control are directly connected I am very much looking forward to Control 2.
I know Control can't focus too much on Wake's story, but I hope they bring some closure to certain aspects because there is still a lot of unanswered questions.
Main difference here is Alan returned as a F God so he could being Alice back with a blink of an eye.
Perfect ending here.
Alan Wake “…the master of many worlds…”
Mr Door “Hold my beer”
Tim Breaker “Did you say deer?”
Ahti: "Ahh... perkele"
It is implied Alan created the Control universe, wrote Jesse Faden, Max Payne, Alex Casey, Saga, etc.. he is Sam Lake, simple as that. But it doesn't mean other characters can coexist with the "author", the 4th wall helps with that
Who's Tim Breaker, all I know is an Jack Joyce that work with a certain Mr. Hatch as shifters
10/10 ending ❤
Thank you for posting this, I just finished my playthrough a couple of days ago, and i was so heavily emotionally invested in the game that the ending left me feelings emotionally exhausted...and when I went to play the Final Draft I realized the game just repeats itself and I just wasn't ready to replay it just yet...but I had to know what happened to Logan, to Alice, to Alan...goodness. I might replay it soon on Final Draft, especially now that I know the Final Draft ending is so much more fulfilling and satisfying than the original! What an intense but amazing game!
"The master of many worlds". I have a feeling he meant all Remedy's games's worlds by that cuz we know they're connected. But...what about Alice? Did she stuck in the Dark Place...AGAIN? Or did she die? I hope they give answers in the DLCs.
She went back to the Dark Place, yes.
Alice and the Anderson brothers are now stuck in the Dark Place fighting the good fight.
She jumped back into the Dark Place to try and help save Alan.
Bro if Alan died there is he woke up in dark place ? I mean Alan was in real world and saga shoot him right and if Alan really died ,can he woke up in dark place ?@@ozfroggirl9221

I had chills when Logan finally answered that phone
You know what is neat here... the fact that you get NEW stuff from NEW game + Another loop, or better yet after another trip down the spiral. A bit of meta thrown in. Love the detail :D
This ending gave me goosebumps, thanks for this unbelievable game. This optional ending was all I could ask for!
Optional? Its the true ending.

Master of many worlds! So we are getting Max Payne, Quantum Break, and Control all together under the Remedy Banner, nice!
This gives me thoughts about how the Max Payne 1 and 2 Remake will be done.
I’m guessing Sam Lake is not just remaking Max Payne, but bringing Max to the Remedy Universe. Alan is rewriting Mona Sax in 2, in that she doesn’t die.

Giving some much needed closure but just enough room for questions with no answers. Anticipation man! I was lucky to have discovered the first game by finding stuff about the second, and it’s been a huge spiral (hehe) from there on out. The Alan Wake games have become one of my top favoirte games of all time. Right up there with Twilight Princess and Red Dead Redemption2! I do wish we saw a scene after the Final Draft credits of Alan and Alice reuniting, or just confirmation that he’s on his way back to her, or maybe she’ll meet him along the way. Either way, I’m a writer myself. I’ll make those scene in my head for now lol

Really loved Alice in this game.
I thought her acting on those videos were fantastic, and some of the best parts of the game for me. Really enjoyed seeing her having a much greater purpose in bringing some level of resolution to the spiral.

Keep in mind we're getting two DLC's.

Oh dope so Alan became a threshold by completing his narrative arc. Very good ending, great game, didnt even know about this until now though. I will not replay this game lol
I would be happy if a series of Alan Wake came out
I am happy with this ending for Saga. Alan isn't done yet. The biggest mystery in this series still hasn't been resolved, and that would be the connection between Thomas Zane and Alan Wake. This game addressed A LOT of the lingering threads from this first one but the Zane plotline is even more unclear now. Especially considering Zane got in touch with Dr. Darling, and that has HORRIFIC implications.
The way this sets up as a possible trilogy is practically brilliant. The third game could potentially serve as both a prequel to the first game and a sequel to 2 all at the same time and loop everything back together.
This extended ending is happy but hilarious 😂
I seriously loved this game and the second ending was perfect got the season pass cant wait fot night springs dlc
This should end Alan Wake's Story since the Master of 2 worlds (many worlds) is also the end loop of the hero's journey
Pretty sure that mr. Door is Saga's dad
Alan: "Master of many worlds"
Hatch: "Yeah? I worned you..."
I bet the 2 DLC's will be Alan saving Alice, and Saga saving the Anderson Brothers...
I think one will be about the lost FBC station kiran mentioned.
And dont forget Dr. Darling is in the dark place too and meet Tom Zane.
The DLC's are about Night Springs and the FBC Lake House.
sadly no. they're standalone DLCs
My god I wouldn’t have played through all of that again for that ending that should’ve been there in the first place

Im glad they made the final draft ending worth the reply. I was worried theyd be stingy with it but its a great great ending to the game.
Need more context on this Mr Door guy. Is he Saga's father?
That seems to be the implication.
Every hint points to that conclusion
I would say it's 95% likely that he is lol
@@ozfroggirl9221 It's so heavily implied, it's basically told to us outright.
it was amazing
Okay also if Remedy makes a third game, I think it would be amazing to see Alan and Alice working together/apart to escape a dark place. I love the idea of Alice’s photography capturing moments of time and things. I had this idea, which might be inspired by that Blairewitch game (I think), where Alice takes photos from a certain angle, and if someone where to find that correct angle and raise the printed photo to it, it could reset that scene. Maybe Alice and Alan are like two ships in the night, passing by in overlap-like instances, but kept apart in two separate realities. Maybe, Alan has written something but doesn’t know why or can’t remember, and Alice keeps finding pages on her side. She takes pictures to capture them, then hides the picture and leaves clues for him to find it on his side of things. Just a game where it’s them trying to reach each other but kept at arms length, once in a while maybe breaking through to the other side for a boss fight before getting separated. I love the idea of them being a power couple, cause they got it in them😂
Sam Lake and Remedy team, my friends you bow to no one. ❤
I am happy they bring Sam Lake in it
OG ending much preferred. Love being left with questions. Reminded me of Inception.
"Its not a loop, its a spiral"
Does Alan stand a chance against Door now? And will Door ever be an enemy? Idk if this will ever be answered but it seems this may be the final closure. Saga can leave. Her daughter is alive. Alan and Alice have ascended. I think the dlc’s will wrap even more closure on it all. A bit sad we may not continue this franchise for a least a long while 😢
Doesn't seem like Alice "ascended" tho. But seems obvious Saga is Door's daughter, which is weird because Saga looks to be a fictional character created by Alam Wake after he achieved knowledge/control over the Lake (because he is Sam Lake). Most likely the DLCs will be elsewhere stories, similar to the original game, literal filler episodes
Thank god for youtube. I dont have to playthrough again to see the good ending
The only thing I don't undersand is what happened to Alice. Was she a literal missing part of Alan the whole time? Is she still alive in the dark place somewhere? Can Alan zap betweem the Dark Place and reality whenever he likes now?
Alan is not a god, he can foresee future events but not like this. About Alice, if she talked to Saga in the Dark Place, then she jumped inside Cauldron Lake again.
There was no way in hell I was playing this game for a 2nd time so here I am 🙃
What's the soundtrack that plays in the end? It's so awesome.
It’s not the end, it’s a new beginning
Dude this ending was way more satisfying to get to, the line ringing ending had me a bit pissed.
So I am left with 3 questions:
- Can Alan get Alice back?
- Who the F is Mr. Door?
- What's going to happen to Tor and Odin who dove after Saga when she went to the Dark Place?
Mr. Door in short is basically a character from game, Quantum Break (Martin Hatch). He can just move through realities like some other dimensional being and is the father of Saga
Rest i've no clue!!
@@user-xi7es6bc7f I guess we will see in the DLC or in Alan Wake 3!
Tor and Odin were in the fountain plaza where Saga enters to find Wake and when you talk to them theyll say something like "we have no more bussines up there, Tom didn't wanted us to tell you, but you'll see us again soon" 🥹
I think he is Heimdall, or something like that. Some people said he might be Loki.
So where did thor and odin went at the end? Both of them went in to the dark sea before the ending?
Alan mentioned he is a "master of many worlds" maybe he has a big role in control 2.
Dr Darling is in the Dark place too, you can see in 2 TV in the Final Draft Update. So that is an option.
"The Master Of Many Worlds"
Possible Sequel?? MAYBE!✨️
We still don’t know a lot about doors, plus we leaver breaker alone in the dark place which easily could be it’s own dlc. Alice is still in the dark place too
I don't understand anything anymore... I'm going crazy. This is kind of crazy. Help :(
kinda seems like this ending is a conclusion for AW title, what major plot point could they go with after this? besides having him tie into control
Melanie Liburd is so gorgeous❤😍very sweet, talented, intelligent, & amazing actress!! I had a huge crush on her since i first saw her in Dark Matter
With Alan Wake free of Scratch's insidious presence...
I wonder if now Alice is to Alan Wake what Polaris was to Jesse Faden?
Damn I just finished the game
And I just saw this
So it seems to be a mostly happy ending for everyone.
I still would've preferred the ambiguous ending with them cutting to black, after Saga shoots Alan and ringing up Logan.
And now, we wait on Control 2. Coming up in 2025.
i thought i was WAY crazier than Alan
Gonna go ahead and pretend this was the ending I just watched on my ps5 lol
I hated the cliffhanger original ending but this the complete ending is so good! Casey, Saga, and especially Alan have suffered and sacrificed so much throughout the events of the game. They all deserved to come out of it safe and with hope for the future.
So yeah, even the "happy" ending is true to the rules of the story i.e. a hero sacrificing something. Dying isn't the only sacrifice you can make
