      Its actually easier to handstand walk than hold a static handstand, effort wise. Your brain is just conditioned to static movements. Give it a shot! Worse case you summer sault out.

      mattiauk Ido Portal Techniques are for those who already have experience with things like this. His lvl for beginners are pretty much for those who are advanced with other movement patterns.

      mattiauk I think ido may mean that the path to total freedom in movement is long and once actually achieving these primary movements of both mind and body may take months, years but once achieved you can "begin" as a beginner to achieve total freedom

    Some of these types of movements are the ones that I will teach my preschool class. Then we will continue to figure out other movements. The children can add their own as well!! Thank you!!

    If you slide your cursor along the progress bar at the bottom of the video from 1:20 to 1:45, the little thumbnails look like Ido is just teleporting forward every 20 cm-s in a horse stance

    To all the people that are saying this is not for beginners I believe you are all ruling yourselves out before you've even tried. It takes an acute awareness and attentiveness of the muscles that we all posses but that we simply must exercise. Be open to the powers and potentials of your body and mind and you will do what you once thought of as miracles on a daily basis.

      +Alexander Louther Exactly. It is difficult as hell at first (as I have actually tried these) but, like anything else, it gets easier with practice.

    • @ProChessPlayer
      @ProChessPlayer 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +Alexander Louther the point people are trying to make sire Alexander is that this is not for a beginner, yes even a new born kid can do this after some practice but you can't just go around doing this stuff tomorrow with no PRIOR training. I am talking based on over 20+yrs of experience in gymnastics. He should not use the word "beginner" I know he is the best thing on planet earth and gaining a lot of momentum now I know him way back when he used to offer skype sessions and charge $1500 or so for training. Just saying he should use different word.

    • @andreoinepto
      @andreoinepto 9 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      A routine for beginners should be something doable for beginners to do right away. An average guy is not doing handstands in less than 6 months. Thays not something you just try every day and it suddenly happens, you need specific training for headstands and most people will struggle a lot with them.

    • @elCoronelCC
      @elCoronelCC 9 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      +andreoinepto no, you don't need special training. You can just do it, fail, take the step, try again, slowly get more controlled. Your muscles are working. You don't need to hold the stand. Take it up more child-like. No stress; much healthier.

    • @JadeDragoness6
      @JadeDragoness6 8 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Absolutely wrong. You "just do it", fail, then hurt yourself in the process. You absolutely need training and progressions or you will hurt yourself. I've seen this time and again. "I'm going to go straight to the hardest progression" and then pulls muscle, sprains joint, tears ligaments, causes an impingement, etc.

    Lord Ido, I know you are the best thing to have ever happened on planet earth after the invention of electricity however based on my years and years of experience this is not beginner routine, do you mean a beginner doing this stuff for a year? The word beginner can give FALSE hope and get a lot of people injured. That is my 2 cents to you. Lots of respect sir

    • @theunluckyfisherman4845
      @theunluckyfisherman4845 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +ProChessPlayer I assume the expectation is that you already take good care of yourself. But essentially if you cannot do these things then you will never be able to do the more advanced techniques. I just began watching these videos and getting interested in this idea. I'm having trouble with these too, but if they were easy then whats the point in doing them?

  • @rollthadice4

Thank you so much for the vids and the movement philosophy.

    FUnny because my son (3 y/old) and I do these movements together and have lot of fun. We don't do the bridge and the handstand, even though I can walk while doing the bridge, It's too dangerous for this little guy (I guess) let alone the handstand (too afraid he'd break his neck ). Besides I have lot's of fear doing the handstand with no backup , but I 'll get there !

    • @theunluckyfisherman4845
      @theunluckyfisherman4845 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +warriorfire8103 Someone might be able to give a better answer but from what i can tell, it makes your body used to moving in all sorts of weird ways so that when you get into a situation where you have to do something, your body already recognizes multiple ways to escape, or accomplish your goal. I intend to use Ido techniques for fighting purposes, but being able to move freely yet focused would be good for pretty much any physical application. Movement is huge in anything you do. Also, doing this would help excercise and utilise muscles that you wouldnt normally use just lifting weights and stuff. These techniques help you grow and train muscle that you can use in many situations.

    What movements, exercises or disciplines would you guys suggest to build strength and flexibility in order to start to be able to perform these movements? I can only do a couple of regular push ups. I can bridge, but not super easily (I definitely can not bridge walk yet). What is a good starting point so I don't pull something and hurt myself? I want to get fit and this seems great, but it looks like I need to build strength first. Mind you it's during quarantine and I'm on shelter in place orders so no access to the gym or state parks right now.

    This is beginners but beginners means the people who have the conditioning to start with this stuff not beginners in the sense everybody in anny condition. Now self esteem if you try these thing even for 10 procent you allready win from the mass who is not starting this thing. Those who do this stuff do this daily because they like it very much.

    Looked good until you got to bridge walk. I can do 10 stomach to wall hand stand pushups but cannot get into the bridge pose. For the life of me I cannot figure out how to get into a bridge.

    Is the ostrich walk safe for brain damage? I ask this because I heard headbangers get brain trauma and neck problems for doing it.
