- Join me on my 1st ever-backpacking trip in the Pinchot State Forest! I have been slowly collecting the gear needed to start doing overnight backpacking trips and the time has finally arrived!
I am hiking the South Loop trail which is 14 miles on average, my trip ended up being 14.2 miles.
Nice. I'm sure your hooked now. Something about it😊
Ohhh you know it! I love hiking miles and being able to camp, rest for the night and finish a long trail the next day.
Beautiful fall trail.
I'm happy I chose to do the South Loop, you never know what you will see around the next turn!? The colors are amazing!!
Mrs. Lumberjack is not very fond of bugs either. I hope that a good nights rest finds your spirits lifted during day two. Thanks for sharing!
Hey Darcy .
The pain of a pack is something that's hard to get used to . But the pain will pass .
Very proud of you . Weather looked fantastic.
Really enjoyed this
Thank you! This was a great 1st day and I know my body will get used to carrying this pack. I am going over things I want to do differently for my next trip.
@@darcyshikingdiaries Hey darcy a quick request. We have started a little pod cast that we try to do once a week and this week i was speaking about you and your trip and the forgot me box idea. Do you think it would be ok to accompany the speaking bit about you with a few clips from your channel , we will ref you in the descrition also.
I also give you a shout out for this trip.
let me know if you can at some stage. I will take the clips and if you don't like it we can remove the section afterwards.
Hope you have a good day
@@lifesahobby Of course! Go for it! That idea has already been useful on my trips when I get back to my car! Haha
@@darcyshikingdiaries ah cool . Cheers for getting back so fast
Great video Darcy great edit that is a lovely trail with a waterfall aswell 😀a good first day🫡
@@Sticksoutdoors yeah the edit was excellent
Thank you! Some people like the creative edits and others prefer a natural video without edits. I enjoy getting creative but still try to capture the beauty and realness of hiking in nature.
@@darcyshikingdiaries they do indeed but I think you have found a nice balance here👍🫡
Your little drone shot was cool . . What a great production . Loved this video .
So nice to see your backpacking adventure begin.
Great video and I'm looking forward to watching day 2!
It was such an amazing 1st experience. Minus the BUGS! I'm hooked for sure!
Great first solo trip Darcy! Looked like you had a great time. Pinchot is a great trail. I’ve been looking for a good Mac and cheese meal. Great video!
I'm so happy for you that you were able to go backpacking! I know how much you wanted to do this. I wonder if you should get one of those mesh bug face nets? They can be super helpful and really lightweight.
I do have a face bug net but it's in my day hiking pack. I didn't think to pack it for this trip. Now I know...
I'm so proud of you, great job finally just going out and doing it! I can't stand when another group is starting out on a trail right when I am, I have to let them get way ahead of me or I have to book it past them. Looks like you had some decent color in the forest I think fall is definitely coming early this year. I get shoulder soreness when I wear a pack every time no matter what... "Sore all over and loving every minute of it" made me laugh, I know exactly how you feel. Every backpacking trip I have been on I am like a kid on Christmas Eve before I start. By the time I finish I am saying to myself -what the hell did I just do to myself! " Then about a week later I want to do it again lol 😂. You definitely have your ups and downs on every trip, and you definitely learn from every experience which helps you on the next one. Great job!!!
I could barely walk when I got home! Haha! I was sore for 2 days but I feel fine now and I plan on doing the North Loop this weekend since I have the chance to do an overnight trip.
Nice trail darcy! And good 🎶 music!
Appreciate the comment, Debbie! Sometimes the music is the hardest part.
Heyyyy, you got out there! 😀 And you must have survived. I've been very excited to see this video. I didn't think we'd get it so soon. Congratulations, you're a backpacker now!
This video took me 9 hours, I wasn't planning on posting it so soon, but I have Day 2 to work on and more videos to make, my computer can't hold a ton of video footage, thus I push videos out as soon as I can. I hope people find this uniquely enjoyable. Haha
Great first Solo Darcy. You are a brave one. Looks wonderful out there through your lens
Looks like you had a great first day on trail. Despite the traffic on trail you ended up with a nice site.
Nice scenery. Looks like a great 1st trip.
You did such a beautiful work here, outstanding atmosphere!
Way to get out there Darcy. Enjoy the PT. Wow...the leaves there are changing already! Any coyotes last night? Can't wait for Day 2...👊🏻😀
Haha, no coyotes just a ton of Bugs and Spiders. The South Loop was a joy to hike, looking forward to seeing what the North Loop looks like.
@@darcyshikingdiaries It's a real treat to hear them, especially if it's the first time. A bit disconcerting if you've never heard them before, but a treat! When is day 2 coming out?
Well Darcy, I don't think you will have to worry about a critter taking your food anyway, you have to teach Milo to carry your back pack for next year. great job on the video, keep going!
Looks like a beautiful place to backpack! I spend most of my time solo backpacking now, but ti does take a little bit to adjust to
Welcome to backpacking! New sub here,I saw you on Hiking Outdoor Family latest video.
Good for you Darcy, so glad the trip went well for you! The bear canister is probably a bit overkill (just my humble two cents)
Those canisters are heavy.
Congratulations on your first backpacking trip! First of many I hope!
Yeah, I will be leaving the canister home on my next trip. I'm going back out to do the North Loop this weekend, weather permitting!
What you do in the tent so early. What time is there while you eating.
I downloaded a couple of movies onto my phone, watched a movie, and passed out until 4am the next morning.
👍
Really nice video, great music choices. This looks like so much fun.
You never get bored on this trail as the scenery is always changing! It's so wild how quickly you go from dark woods to an open meadow of ferns!
that trail is too rocky for me but beautiful
There were a few times I was like, really... more rocks?! Haha!
