Thanks so much buddy, the overwhelming abundance of subject matter makes the job easier. I am literally at the moment compiling a list of must do hikes to showcase the endless bounty of PA, its just a matter of having the time to get to them. ROCK ON my friend!!!
Thanks so much Frank! I definitely am going to take the time in my next vid to give you a shout out and say thanks for all the folks who subscribed after my appearance on the show, that truly was amazing and I'm very grateful to all of you!!
Looked like a fun day. Miss Sarah found all the good stuff. (She was closer to the ground) Such a great way to raise a family. Memories no one will forget.
Yes I had thought the same thing myself, her lower to the ground perspective has her more tuned into what is going on at ground level. Also her natural curiosity and love of nature. We all had a wonderful time!
I am glad you pointed that out. 100% what an amazing and gifted little girl. She put in about close to 6 miles without ever complaining and all the while discovering wildlife, picking berries, and engaging in friendly conversation. I was amazed... A more accomplished hiker and naturalist then most adults I know by far...

Oh wow! I knew you were headed back to Pinchot, but with MtM? That's awesome! I'm finally catching up on videos tonight from Yellowstone, in the dark, surrounded by my sleeping, exhausted family.... If I had a nickel for every time my kids gave me a Sarah-esque "Daddddddy.... When are we going to be done with this hike?" so far, lol.... Phenomenal as always, and super wonderful to see another PA hiking friendship formed. I have another dropping this weekend! Cheers, buddy!
Yea I have been trying to set something up with M+M for awhile, but things kept coming up- you know how that goes. Can't wait to tune in for your epic road trip, I'm super jealous but happy for you that you get to see those places in person. I will definitely be doing the full south loop as an overnight backpack at some point, maybe in the fall, the forests there are very nice.
Thanks so much for that, sincerely. If I made some up would you buy one?! I am setting it as a goal to get a small merchandise store established by next year. I have already begun to look into the process and experimented with some designs. In life I have always been more of a tortoise than a hare, to be honest. I have always looked at this TH-cam journey I am on not as a business venture, but as a way of sharing my viewpoint with others and hopefully making a positive impact on the world. That may sound cliche, but my focus is really on quality content, inspiring people to get outside, personal growth, and sharing my love of nature. The fact that people enjoy the videos, watch, and comment, that's really the "currency" that matters most to me. But yes to get back to the point, I may print up a shirt or two and start wearing them in the vids to see if anyone notices or it gets any reaction. Thanks @rreuss9277
Well maybe just a bit better if you and Bob tagged along as well! But yes, they are truly wonderful, positive, and inspiring people, just the type of folks that I am thrilled to come across on TH-cam, and I think more projects will be lined up in the future. On a personal level, getting to meet - in person - amazing like minded hikers and explorers has been a true highlight of the entire TH-cam experience. And congrats on blowing past 500 by the way, you have been so busy pumping out content I have been having trouble keeping up!
This was certainly different than usual and I really liked the family feel. I subscribed to their channel. Thanks for sharing. Oh and of course the falls and newts were a definite highlight.
I appreciate your checking out there channel Lumberjack, I know they very much wanted to come out to the youtube meetup but where unable to on that day. Very wonderful folks, and I would love to see what your take on mt pies might be!
I was expecting a nice little waterfall, but the whole scene and setting really exceeded my expectations. That whole area of the Pinchot State Forest is quite photogenic and beautiful, a wonderful place to hike and explore. Thanks so much for watching and the comments Keystone Hiker!
This was so fun! Loved the collab. What a sweet family. Sarah melts my heart. (and 2 dogs! God Bless!) The place was gorgeous. The line "our plans were foiled" made me laugh. Thanks for sharing!! Peace & Prayers!
You know its funny but you would think simply meeting up for a hike would be a piece of cake, but it was probably a good year of discussion and plans falling through before this event actually became a reality. which is the irony of finally meeting Ryan and realizing the road to the trailhead was closed. Even before that, a large tree had fallen across another road on my way to that location that i was somehow able to drag just far enough to the side to make it passable! Truly wonderful folks, and yes Sarah is adorable, it was a wonderful day.
Love both your channels and enjoyed seeing this collaboration. Liked seeing the little newts, all the beautiful ferns along the trail and the waterfall.
I have been trying to set up a collaboration with @mountainsintomemories for quite awhile, so glad we were able to finally put this together. Truly wonderful people and members of our community of Pennsylvania nature and hiking TH-camrs! The red eft newts where everywhere it was crazy.
Next time you make "Mountain Pies" try Pizza Sause, Cheese, Pepperoni and what ever else you like. You can't go wrong!! BTW......canned pie filling make a nice dessert.
That sounds delicious. I think because I'm from Philadelphia area this was there take on a Philly cheese steak style. Which I thought was a very nice gesture!
Fantastic video! Just love waterfalls, as they never disappoint! It is always so nice to see fellow You Tubers get together and enjoy what life has to share! Cliff (Wandering Woodsman) would probably like the mountain pie that you had. He enjoys cooking out using a gridle like that! Tuna melts usually, but this would be a change for him! I will check out Mountains to Memories channel!
Thanks Linda. Yes waterfalls are certainly one of my favorite things to come across on my hikes. For my first mountain pie I have to say that was excellent. Maybe one day I will be able to join Cliff on one of his overnight camping trips, you never know.🙂
Beautiful space all to yourselves! Nice that it looks like a non strenuous relatively flat hike. Also- so much water in July! I grew up near Pittsburgh and summers were fairly dry (years ago). Thanks for filming.
Its been strange here in eastern PA this year. The spring was very dry and the summer has been very wet. I was a bit surprised but also very happy that we had the falls to ourselves. I had heard reports that the area was heavily used and sometimes abused but thankfully all I encountered trash wise was a pair of socks on a rock. Its a gorgeous location, just one of the many awesome waterfalls across Pennsylvania. Thanks for watching and the nice comment!
That whole area is just very scenic. I recently read somewhere that much of the area was partially logged at a certain point which has now created many meadows and open stretches interspersed with typical PA forest cover, beautiful place thanks for watching.
I would recommend trying the Choke Creek Nature Trail for the best comprehensive hike of what the area has to offer. Its about 6 miles and can be downloaded off alltrails and is an amazing day hike, especially in fall. Overall the trails in the Pinchot are very well blazed, I say go for it!!!
Another awesome collaboration of two great channels I’ve followed for awhile now. As a father it’s always great to see other families getting after it, family friendly spots, and inspiration to keep getting out with your kids and making nature lovers and conservationists out of them. Never heard of those falls and haven’t been to Pinchot yet but the last two videos you’ve done highlighting this gem guaranteed a visit in the future by this Dad and hiker. Great job bringing the Walter Zolna treatment to a family friendly adventure! Keep hitting that trail brother, sharing it through your perspective, and following through on the goals you set for yourself and channel!
Appreciate it Cole, thanks. Truly wonderful folks the family from Mountains into Memories are, it was my pleasure to meet them and do a video, they set a great example for others I believe.
Beautiful waterfalls! I had the same issue a few weeks back, the road was closed. Bummer, but if it keeps people away that don’t respect the area and leave trash, it’s a good thing. I’m definitely gonna check out “Mountains into Memories” Your videos are beautiful. Truly a great showcase of the magic and beauty of our great state of Pennsylvania. 👍
It turns out the road was truly closed for construction but we still found a way to get down to the falls, a truly beautiful location. Thanks so much for your kind words Jeff and thanks for checking out Mountains into Memories.
Great video and hike! I grew up playing in the woods in SWPA w my sisters and I love how Sarah is always looking for the small creatures in your video. I still get excited when I see a newt or toad and it’s been a long many decades since those days. I’ve raised my own daughter to love the woods and creatures although she doesn’t usually pick them up. I brake for frogs! I used to try and catch toads when I was a kid. It’s amazing how soft they are. I keep threatening to take my family back to Choke Creek but haven’t made it yet. I may wait until the road is done. I’m up here in Tobyhanna and love seeing your “local “ videos! Lots of hard work but very very good content and just lovely to watch.
The forests in your area are very beautiful definitely one of my favorite regions to explore. It was great to see her joy and fascination with all of the little critters and boy does she love blueberries too lol. Thanks for your kind comments - there is alot of extra work that goes into producing the videos but its just something I love to do and i am really grateful for folks like yourself who enjoy watching!
Absolutely gorgeous work Walter! It's a bit unusual to see you on the trail with other people, but you've become such a professional that you make every video so enjoyable and simply unique, the best of all is that it all seems so easy to do, but actually there's a ton of work behind a video like this. Another little masterpiece my friend!!
I have to say hiking with kids was a new experience for me and it definitely changed the way i had to film this one, but it was also a wonderful opportunity to experience hiking from a different perspective. Quite a compliment to say that the video appears easy, as a fellow creator you have the truly unique perspective and understanding to see how things actually are in real life, real time, and then how it is presented as a finished product. I have been doing a lot of collaborations and shifting to a bit of a vlog type style lately which has been amazing, but I am also ready to get back to some solo hiking and really cinematic filming - every project is unique!
A bit late in viewing Walter! But always a quality video. Glad you made it to Pinchot SF and Choke Creek Falls!!! Essentially Pinchot is in my backyard. Got to get back to the falls myself. Thanks for😂 sharing...👊😀!
Griz, how are you buddy? Sorry for the late response. Pinchot is a really nice forest and it seems like they keep adding parcels to it which i think is great. Did you get alot of snow up there?
@WALTERZOLNA Here in Stroudsburg, nadda!!! But up in the higher elevations of Susquehanna, Wayne, and Pike counties...20"-24". Those elevations got buried! My buddy is right next to the Thornhurst tract of Pinchot...20" there. Yes...recently added tracts to Pinchot is Springbrook and Clarks Summit. Happy T-day there my friend.
Very good work. I also watch mountains into memories as well. I think it’s so neat how big YT is but how small it feels sometimes. Most of the time we never meet but somehow we become friends through watching each other and commenting. Here’s a thumbs up to two awesome channels👍.
Thanks Craig, I appreciate that compliment coming from your talented eyes. That was a big part of my reasoning behind the meetup last month - to foster and grow that sense of community, friendship, and connection of us here in the TH-cam community - specific to Pennsylvania, hiking, and nature. And I know Mountains into Memories very much wanted to be there for that, and I am just glad we were able to put this project together and have this quality experience.
Awesome video, and not just because we were in it! We really appreciate you coming out to hike and hang out with us. We all really enjoyed meeting you! Those falls were surprisingly awesome, a lot of flow for July. I think we got lucky with a bit of recent rain. Thanks again for joining us, let’s do it again sometime!
I had a great time, so glad we were finally able to put a collaboration project together, it took awhile but we made it happen. I found it so ironic that after all of our issues with meeting up that when we finally did, the road was closed lol! I agree the waterfall was fantastic, and i happen to know that the hike upstream along Choke Creek is amazing as well, so hopefully I will return at some point and do the entire Pinchot south loop as an overnight backpacking trip. I thank you and your family so much for your hospitality in hosting me at your campsite, and on a personal note it was a real joy for me to get a little slice of the "family" experience out on the trail. Looking forward to the next one my friend, I will be following along for all of your adventures, take care!
@@WALTERZOLNA the road closure was definitely ironic, but I think we sent a good message that perseverance will get you to some amazing spots in nature and in life!
@@mountainsintomemories You know that is a great point, because I have often thought that hikes and hiking represent a great analogy for life in general. Its a journey full of struggles and triumphs. There are moments of beauty and bliss and moments of struggle and suffering. Peaks and valleys... But in the end we all walk the path... in our own way at our own pace... And really, its about the journey and all the little moments along the way... And not to sound silly, but one of the moments along my "journey" through life was the time we spent on our hike to Choke Creek Falls, and in my own little mind I will always have that moment... Keep pushing forward my friend...
@@WALTERZOLNA Very well said. Life is full of obstacles, those are the valleys you just have to power through. The peaks could be just around the corner. That hike was definitely a peak for us, and we couldn't let a closed road hold us back!
Enjoyed seeing the kids out in nature. I wish more people took their kids out to make memories in nature like that, as I am not sure where the future generations of naturalists and nature wanderers will come from. Walter, if you have not already discovered the Green Mountain Metal Detecting TH-cam channel, I would recommend you check it out. I am not a metal detector, but I really enjoy the channel. The creator is a very talented guy who actually records his own music for his videos, in addition to his involvement in several other business ventures. He tells some interesting stories in each video and always includes some great nature-related views too. Check it out. Oh...and I subscribed to the Mountains to Memories channel too. I will let them know that Walter sent me!
Spending the day out in the forest with those guys reminded me of my younger days hiking and exploring with my brother and father - and occasionally mother. I definitely think the kids will benefit later in life from all of their experiences in the outdoors. I will check out Green Mountain Metal Detecting - thanks for the tip!
Extraordinary,,Incredible views and spectacular videos you make.. I do follow your channel Mr Walter.Missed to join your TH-camrs connect,If you wish to invite me for the next one.Pls do invite.. See you somewhere on the trailhead ..until then have a wonderful journey...
Thanks so much for that my friend. There will be another meetup in the future and you are certainly invited. I truly appreciate your support buddy, thank you so much for watching and the nice comments!
It depends where you park. The closest approach is about 1 mile. In this hike, the nearest access road was closed for construction so it took about 2.5 to get there.
I have seen your video but no video SEO is done and zero so your video is not reaching any new audience and no new visitors are coming to your channel. No matter how many videos you upload, if SEO is not done, your video will never go viral and will never reach new viewers
Your ability to capture the beauty of Pennsylvania is unsurpassed on TH-cam. I totally enjoy your videos! Stay at it!!! ROCK ON!!!!

And I know Mountains into Memories very much wanted to be there for that, and I am just glad we were able to put this project together and have this quality experience.
Looks like a beautiful day!
Yes it was a beautiful and blessed day for sure, Thanks for watching and leaving a comment, its greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
😃
How far from parking lot to the falls?
It depends where you park. The closest approach is about 1 mile. In this hike, the nearest access road was closed for construction so it took about 2.5 to get there.
@@WALTERZOLNA Thanks! I'll keep in mind when I'm there.
I have seen your video but no video SEO is done and zero so your video is not reaching any new audience and no new visitors are coming to your channel.
No matter how many videos you upload, if SEO is not done, your video will never go viral and will never reach new viewers
I will look into that, thank you.
Hello sir SEO of your youtube videos is very important if you do SEO your channel subscribers and video views will increase.@@WALTERZOLNA
