Great tip wiring it to the close button. Worked a charm. Nice and clean install without having to run a lot of wiring.

Does it draw a lot of power from the batteries ? Like when the vehicle is switched off. Like if it’s used during camping
Nice Rob! Happy Wife, happy life! Great added safety aspect too for cross traffic at night. Since the light goes out when it closes, does it also come on when it opens?
It's more a momentary switch so it turns on but doesn't stay switched on when it sees a power disconnect
Nice and impactful first mod! Maybe I missed it, but I wonder if there’s a way for it to automatically turn on when the hatch opens?
If you had a switchless LED or a toggle switch vs a push button like mine, it should ideally light up when open.
Does not work. Once the power is cut to it, it will turn off until the button is hit.

Should be same place as ours.
How hot does it get? From Baja designs website.Caution: Dome Light w/ Switch can get very hot when used for long periods of time. Please use caution when handling or installing.
Never noticed the heat issues but the body is aluminum for heat dissipation

Initially I was going to use posi tap but I didn't have the smallest gauge (red)

I have a 2011 LX570 with powered lift gate and I could not get it to work. I do not get any V to the larger red wire and 2V to the smaller red wire. Connect LED straight to battery and it works. ideas?
does the button close your hatch?

That insulation is pretty thick so perhaps test your contact again.
