- Star citizen is why i started my channel and while iv enjoyed other things, Star Citizen is something iv consistantly came back to for going on 5 years but today im done. 4.0 is the final chance im over it.

Wanna update you guys, Iv seen the comments blaming reshade and I've used it for a year and a half with no issues. So with that said you guys was absolutly correct, I removed reshade and it actually fixed my frames dramatically. I'd be less of a man to not come on here and own my mistake. The frame issue was totally on me and I'd like to clear that up. with that said I still stand behind us needing QOL fixes the loops are still janky as fuck and they are still to focused on adding more "features" rather than fixing what we have. But I'd like to thank those of you who had helpful feedback, and I will absolutely correct this in my next video. Thanks again o7

Gonna try it one more time when 4.0 goes live. That way it's been tested by evocati and PTU waves. If it's better I will make a video stating so but if this patch flops I'll have my account on the gray market

I play on a laptop and get 30 fps in cities and 60 plus in space, and no i'm not brainwashed or whatever but there's something seriously wrong with your setup

@@Killingtrent An Acer Predator Helios, 12700 3070 ti 32gb ram and fans set to max, it has great cooling which makes all the difference. I've played on many laptops as i travel for work, for this game it seems that it's down to which one has the strongest cooling fans.

The marketing team pisses people off more than the game does. They market this game as a live experience, so people go into it expecting a live experience and it's not. And even the backers that have been with them forever, still forget that. If you're playing it daily, you lose sight of that fact. We also have to remember that the money and resources went into 2 separate games and multiple failed game engines forcing them to build their own. Star Citizen is not a game, it's a revenue stream for Squadron 42. Star Citizen's content has increased substantially now that more resources are moving over. I don't play it daily anymore. I've accepted the fact. I'll hop in and play for a couple days after an update, then move on to something else until the next patch.
To have something interesting to do, I decided to make fresh start with no ship and solo. The most cruel and dangerous enemy right now are bugs and server performance issues. Yesterday I tried to do some ROC mining, ended with massive lag, dolivine crystal explosion and destroing ROC. Cargo running no matter with or without physicalized cargo isnt in a good state because of constant demands problems, and even if there is some drugs to buy, there's chance to have a buged terminal. Dog fighting have also big problems like unbalanced ships, desyncs and current state of master modes. Bounty hunting contracts as underpriced. You risk Your ship, repair costs are ridiculus right now, and You can earn only couple of thousands of credits for a contracts.
FPS contracts are in better state right now because of loot, but with physicalized cargo system and lack of local and ship inventories, this will also change.

Do you know you can do MRTs in a starter Aurora LN by completely avoiding any dogfighting? 40$ pledge Aurora LN is stealthiest ship in the game right now, with disabled shields and suppressed IR it's radar signature can be even lower than Eclipse or Firebird, somewhere near 2800. You just sneak past any MRT escort wich is usually about 5-10km from target, fly to wreck site, shoot NPC target with ship's repeaters and fly away. 5min, 15k, no expenses.

Put the game down, play something else. Then come back in a year or two. It is still very much only a tech build and not a game. There are loads of great games you can use the accessories with (War thunder, Mechwarrior, etc)

Iv loved the game since the first time I stumbled around my hanger absolutly lost no tutorial and not even many guides but there was something about it that hooked me it's beautiful it's great when it works but as they release more things less things work. The stability is horrible right now and I honestly want this game to be HUGE but it's the ship build taking priority that will cause it to fail. Thank you for stopping by and commenting. I want 4.0 to be a success but I'm definitely going to step away and im going to compile all the evidence needed to prove this game won't happen if 4.0 fails. Server meshing has been hyped for half a decade and it wasn't a game changer in the evocati build so I doubt when it goes live it will be much different the game will work

Once I experienced some unique stuff for SC, playing anthing more is a waste of time. Responsiveness, bugs, runs horrible, I don't have patience for that anymore so now for me it is only 3h gaming for each patch to just taste some new changes and thats it, then getting back to games that actually work.
I also noticed since 3.23 the game runs like garbage, unplayable right now.

I agree 100% with you.... I haven't bought the game yet, I so want to. I have been wanting and waited for this game for years. The games I game tested was like this Alpha state, but ran way better than Star Citizen...Over $700 millions later, promises later they are still in Alpha later? WTF? Now they are asking big spenders to buy a $48,000 Game Packages... That price is for a real life car... HOLY COW! I am sorry.. Well I hope the Dev Team and CEO start doing what they promise for you all who bought into this game and stop milking the buyer... So far ..
Exactly is getting offensive honestly.
Many of the gameplay issues are being caused by server limitations which are only going to be resolved with server meshing so it wouldn't be a bad idea to go play something else for three months and then come back for patch 4.0 which is probably just before Citizencon. This is not an easy time for the backers.
This is the way I wish all people would reply thank you for being a decent human being sir I'm going to look around and I'll give 4.0 it's fair chance if it's as good as they say I will be raving about the game The performance is my only issue as I mainly bounty hunt anyways.
@IAmTheAstralTraveler give it a shot but considering it's the first time they will try meshing with the "general population" at scale, I doubt it will be all sunshine and rainbows.
If it's like 3.18 they will improve it but it needs the stress test first to see what the problems are
There are so many small bugs that riddle the gameplay experience. I love the game and play 3-4 hours daily but am a sucker for punishment apparently. I find it hard to believe that most of these issues are server sided and that 4.0 will be the cure all. Temper expectations and we will see if they deliver.

I was once one of the people who defended the game no matter what and it was because I was more attached to my purchase of the game and that my decision wasn't a bad on to fund this game. But at some point you have to step back and analyze what's been promised and what's been delivered. I'm no longer looking at the bright side, I'm l9oking at what's been delivered and I bet you anything either Pyro or server meshing will be pushed back? One MIGHT make 8t in but won't be both.

This is not new, CIG has done this for awhile and explained why already, you should not play star citizen as a full time game (in my opinion), you can only play short stints, we all know star citizen is a constant work in progress, so some patches break, some patches work smoothly, some events break the servers. And all one has to do is just not play the game until its smooth again. We are all adults here, we should be able to set the right expectations based on CIG's Track record, so we should not be surprised when stuff does not make the deadline and breaks or gets pushed back, and they roll the patch out without it. I backed the game in 2014, and only got into it more in 2020 and have hopped on and off, and yeah CIG has had these issues going back, but they have gotten more consistent with squashing bugs and rolling out updates, even overall performance has actually gone up, there are less annoying bugs and if there are they are generally patched out more quickly. We don't have people stranded in space, controls locking out, cockpits opening while flying anymore. And I am sorry if you are annoyed at the game or anything, but you should have and need to be more honest with yourself on what the game is and the state of the game. So many people take what CIG state and theory craft or look into more stuff than is actually there, or when CIG obviously has no final idea how the experience will be like but are throwing out ideas or concepts, and everyone just eats it up and gets angry when it changes. Its the same with with other game devs, like 343, every time they mess up they say 'we'll get it next time' they did that for halo 4 to mcc, mcc to 5 and 5 going to infinite, what reason was there for me to trust that they won't screw up infinite? Their track record spoke for itself. Same with CIG, but CIG has actually been making progress (from my perspective)
Cig doesn't do everything wrong let's be clear. There ambition is awesome and I love the idea of the game but it's like Avenger One said recently they get so close to having a good flight system then they scrap it and start all over the game has had long enough to be stable and at this point I don't think servermeshing will fix it... it didn't even fix the lag for the evocati build when they tested it
@@IAmTheAstralTraveler nah CIG does do things wrong at times, I don’t think master mode is necessarily bad, it allows CIG to tune the flight experience of separate models more finely, but this is also not the first time CIG has done this, they did the whole transition flight model years ago and other flight models, I like star citizen as much as the next person but sometimes CIG overcomplicate stuff for no reason. The best example are the elevators, what is the point of physicalising elevators? The elevators do not travel properly through shafts or anything to the destination, they go invisible and phase through the station in no clip, we experienced issues from that system many times, because a physical elevator moves through the station while being in no clip mode but sometimes it breaks, so players around the station smacked by an invisible elevator. It’s why it also does not work at times, I understand if the elevator can break down, and if it has a proper elevator shaft that travels, but it doesn’t
@Arbyfig I feel like physicalising everything is just shooting themselves in the foot we don't need real time elevators and trains and things like that while it's cool if it causes problems REMOVE THAT but Chris Robert's ambitions hinder the games potential the game doesn't need to be basically real life. People play games to escape the real world its to ambitious and as a previous commenter stated the technology in gaming just isn't there yet. There tryna reinvent the wheel instead of using and improving whats already available.
The game is in alpha. We are witnessing potential in progress. Bugs are a consequence. Take a few years off and come back when you find your tolerance level. Maybe you'll have a different opinion when 2.0 comes out.

Cloud Imperium is a company after all and all a company really cares about at the end of the day is money - and being able to pay their employees. So no - Im never going to blame them - they did the best they could to become rich. I blame the cult.
You should have done what I do. I refuse to buy the game until they are at least able to get 1000+ players on the servers at once.... IMO it's not really worth playing until they make it an actual MMO. I check in from time to time when they do the freefly events. It is just not worth it to spend a significant amount of time playing it until it becomes an actual massive multiplayer game.

Strap in, this is a long tangent.
Look, I feel you on your frustrations, I understand completely. But there's a major point to keep in mind. It's not a game yet. It's an early access demo. They're building the game, so it's not optimized and won't be for a long time. The focus right now is on static server meshing and then dynamic server meshing. And of course squatting 42. I think a lot of your frustration is coming from your expectations being slightly misplaced. They are trying to get the underlying tech working. They need people playing to make sure that works. After the core tech is implemented and polished then they'll start working on stuff like the lag and all that other stuff. They said this multiple times in some form or another. Most people who've been in it long enough know that we are testers we're not players yet. The fun is secondary to the testing. I think you are looking at it from the angle of what a finished game would be. Don't give up on it. Or, just wait till it's completely done whenever that will be. Just check in from time to time. But if you've been with them for years you should know this. I'm frustrated too. I've been playing since 2017. The game is at least 5 to 8 more years away from retail release. I understand some people don't have that kind of patience but like I said this is not a finished game. This is for people to test it and report the issues in the issue council. It's more for sandbox gameplay during testing. Don't give up on it just take a break. Wait till 4.0 comes out to check out the new features, play for a couple days then just chill out for a few months until the next major patch. That's what is the general strategy. And you only had to spend $45. You don't need all the peripherals until you know you want to commit to playing. Put all the stuff on eBay to get some of your money back and just do m&k until the game's ready is my suggestion. But overall I think you're taking it too seriously and expecting too much. They don't even know what issues they're going to run into as they're trying to put more tech into the development. That's why things get dropped off. They put in new tech and it breaks something that's been working for the last two patches. So they say well we can't put the new patch out because it breaks the previous patch. And they're like well leave this feature out and leave the other parts in so it doesn't break the rest of the game too badly. That's going to keep happening. And keep happening. And keep happening. Until they get to retail released like I said earlier, we're testers. Not players. If you approach it from that mentality hopefully that won't make it feel so frustrating. That's what we signed up for in a nutshell when we downloaded it. I hope you don't think this is being hostile because it's not. It's me asking you not to be so frustrated. They are literally making up new tech and tools to utilize the tech as they go. They have no idea what's going to happen. Everything they say it as far as what's coming out is their best guess. They're doing development in a way that no other developer has the patience or the capital to do so they don't even try. Keep that in mind. Every other major developer in the world has deadlines, publishers, shareholders etc that they have to answer to that's why the ambition has to be reeled in and capped. CIG doesn't have that limitation, is a blessing and a curse. I'm a chairman's club backer. So you know I feel frustrated. But there's times where I go several months without playing. So in conclusion, it's not going to be a smooth ride. Not for a long, long time. If it's not a ride you're willing to take, I totally understand. But if you found any enjoyment, which is mostly when playing with others and emergent gameplay happens, stick with it and ride this bumpy road with us. But if you don't have the patience to be a tester more than a player, I totally understand. It's not a game yet. I know I'm probably not going to change your view, but this is my attempt. I'm no white knight, I have rage quit many times. But I always come back. Especially after playing 5 minutes of Starfield 😂. This game is gonna continuously be shit. Until it's not. Do you have the patience? Doesn't seem like it. Realistically, it's probably gonna be 10 more years. I'm over projecting, but maybe within that time frame. Personally I feel like if anyone isn't willing to give it at least 10 ADDITIONAL years to come to fruition, it's definitely not something they should be playing now. It's just gonna be infuriating. You've heard the saying, not everything is for everybody. This is just another example. But I'm asking you to stick with it, even to a lesser degree.

I really don’t understand why my system plays it well. It’s not super, though I’ve got a 6800xt. CPU is a ryzen 5 5600g. 32Mb ram 2nd hand off eBay. Cheap MB. Got an NVME though. 30-50fps in cities. 100+ in space. Dogfights are smooth. Planets and moons are smooth. How are some people only getting 15fps?

Too much tier 0 implementations that are never touched again such as hull scraping and fracturing, refueling, bunkers, outposts all of which haven’t changed in years and CIG continues to implement these things that aren’t enjoyable or fun to do which is ruining the experience

Ok so, i started playing this game 3 days ago and in these 3 days I ONLY have been able to complete 2 contracts, why? they constantly bug the fuck out and then you have to find a way to work around it or accept that you just wasted 1 or 2 hrs of my life for no reason, i do find the game compelling but man is in such a rough spot, and don't get me started about the 15 minutes wait time for the fucking elevator to even open... Is a shit show, but still i find it compelling just to roam around.
Edit: I just listened to you comparing SC to warzone, SC is bigger than Warzone, when talking about playing space, but SC does have optimisation issues.

@@IAmTheAstralTravelerI might do that honestly, my experience has been very bad, there is always a bug that will break my experience, it got to a point that I was afraid of accepting a contract because I felt that it was just gonna be a waste of time, that something would happen that was gonna break the quest, and the it would be time wasted. I still see the potential and I would love to play around in the world, but man they make it hard to enjoy.
@feddora5776 there model is not a game with a store it's a store with a small flight sime to drive you back into the store because the money making loops are so god awful it makes more sence to drop the money on what u want. Take bounty hunting you get paid like 15k to fly across the verse and if u lose a gun in the fight u literally lose money in repairs the game is a joke bro

I think that you’re not entirely appreciating the critical fact that you’re playing test builds while they are still working on the tech, engine, content, networking, logic, etc. Stop embellishing so much, chill and take a break from the game. Have you ever seen what some extremely popular games look and play like while still in development, they are a fucking mess up to the final quarter before retail release. I played SC for 5 hours yesterday, salvaged, sold cargo, did ship bounties. I had fun. Or sometimes the server is fucked so I play something else instead. I spent $45 on this game and it’s been fine. If you’ve been spending hundreds of dollars on this game you might need to find another outlet. Like your emotional investment in SC is inversely proportional to the level of grass you make contact with.

The constant bugs and I was originally going to make a beginners guide but it was constant issues from 5 frame a second to being griefed at everus harbor. I kill the griefer get a crime Stat and die to the station and relieve 7 hrs in klesher none of the loops work to a point I'd be willing to risk my money on a 30k and bounty hunting is shotty at the best of times its honestly just not fun for me anymore stuttering around in 2024 in unacceptably this isn't 2015 anymore the backing has been more than enough for this game to become stable I'm tired of the excuses.

@@IAmTheAstralTraveler 16 gb is not enough for some new games now and certainly not enough for SC. I have a 1080 GTX with 24GB ram and get 30 FPS in cities and more than 60 FPS outside of cities. If you are short on RAM, you must have your windows pagefile set on a SSD set on "system managed" with at least 20 gb of free space. Remove all pagefile you have on HDD.
I'll give this a try at after server meshing is out. This is the big update that's going to "fix" the game we will see
I just came back after a three year break and was appalled to see the sames bugs killing me off again that were years ago. The trade system is broken and stupid as uck with there punitive supply and demand simulator, I haven't been able to sell my salvage for a month now but still try a couple times a week, NPC still grouped up standing on chairs, etc. etc..

While I disagree with the way they market the game like its mobile flash game, I've at least kept myself informed about updates and delays which they do in fact mention prior to it happening. Plenty of points in the video I disagreed with but its not that big of a deal. If you don't like it, why did you continue to spend money on it? Only people I know that do that are guys who run an org or something crazy. Not to mention, the cargo refactor that they are working on is actively in Evocati right now. Lots of bugs and issues as always. But they are making progress on the game. At this stage its all I'm asking for. So long as they don't stop development, there is always the hope that it will eventually become that epic space sim I've always wanted to play. I think once they release Squadron 42, it will be a good indicator on weather or not all these years are a waste.

Everything you're seeing is a feature of a piece of tech they are building. Like unreal engine is for games, that is what they are aiming to build star engine into. A lot of the bugs they have are an issue with coding or problems with the servers for trying to run so much at once. I'm not in denial. I can see the issues with their monetization. It's a bit wild that they raised so much and are still building the engine. Also, I don't like that they sell ships as that makes the game pay to win. My pc is decent not the best not the worst 3.23 and all patches before ran ok not great not horrible just ok. Some days better than others. But since .1 dropped horrible stability and im done playing the lottery on if the game runs well today or not tired of server hopping. I'm really hoping 4.0 and server meshing is the savior here but I'm sure one thing will be fixed and another will break.

I feel your pain, unfortunately it is only going to get worse as they struggle to implement 3.24 which may add more tedious effort and time wasting on top of the bugs. I have been a backer of star Citizen for 7 years and I never thought the game would still be in alpha. Unfortunately, we are playing a technical demo which is being actively developed while we are playing. It is the equivalent of building the plane while it is in the air. Any major change can cause the plane to literally crash. If a pilot told its passengers that a plane was not finished but have faith the engineers will finish the plane in the air, no one would get on the plane but in SC's case we are more than happy to go for the ride. I would not quit Star Citizen but also I would not have any expectations for 4.0 or 1.0. At the end of the day enjoy what SC provides and when it gets frustrating, play something else. In my case I picked up Elite Dangerous and love it. It also shows me that SC has a very long way to go.
Is elite worth the time?? Iv considered it but the reviews iv seen make me feel like I'd be super far behind and at an extreme disadvantage lmk I'm considering grabbing it

This genuinely made me laugh. I was very hyped back in 2012-2014, but by 2016 i already started thinking it was a scam. Been watching videos that critique the game (or trash on it, whichever) on it ever since, haha. Last year I logged in on one of those free weekends and literally spent 10 minutes trying to get my ship out of the hangar. When I finally did, I took my ship to the first planet I could reach, got out, and instantly died. I have no idea why. Very disappointing. To your point about it being a scam, now I don't think it's a scam so much as a job for Robertson -- the longer he keeps it rolling, the longer he works (or rather accumulates wealth) and he can even still be reaching for the dream. That said, I'm subscribing just for the scam video that you and I both know you're gonna make.

I understand your frustrations but i feel your points are treating SC at a finished game. At this point in development of a game its normal for systems to be broken and performance to be bad. Normally you would never play an alpha version of a game. The fact we have massively hinders development speed. Not saying CIG are perfect as they have many flaws. Also you mentioned about there not being much to render, that was never the problem. Performance is a mix of servers being overloaded and large entity counts on the cpu render thread. So while you may not see a lot there are still like 100k+ objects passing to the renderer. They mentioned in future updates they will enable threaded rendering that should largely mitigate that issue. Things like performance are normally the last thing done when developing a game. Assuming S42 releases first it will be the better judge of performance we can expect.

What makes me MAD about the player base is how they are overly excited by some minor stuff and defensive about obviously abusive marketing practices focused on FOMO and frustration farming.
The game itself who knows, it MIGHT be groundbreaking. It does have some ideas and potential you can't find anywhere else, and it has a lot more to do with physicalized "everything" and server meshing than other design details.
Truth is, SC is a glorified tech demo, and it would be OK if they didn't use those psy ops tools to push people into spending so they can grab stuff at "great discount" because they price anchor everything SO HIGH and this community is used to it.

It's not the visual effect that is interesting, it's the fact that you change server "on the fly" during the jump (with no loading screen). It's the first iteration of the "server meshing" tech of CIG. It's also the missing step that will announce a new big playable system (PYRO).

It's not about adding a "new" feature, it's about adding a "long awaited" feature that needed several other tech before to be added (graph database, replication layer, 64bits positionning, etc). The list of all techs mandatory for SC is known since several years. Server meshing is one of the last tech. The last ones will be dynamic server meshing and Maelstrom (physic damage). Afterthat, all main tech will be in and the real debug will start.

I backed this game in 3/2013. CIG always builds up hype at the end of the year with big promises and does not deliver. They've been doing this for a long time and people still fall for it.

SC and Squadron 42 will take as long as they take to develop, unless you know of a similar high fidelity, first-person, sandbox, space-sim MMO experience to those of SC from a game made in less time, then your comment about how much time a game should take to be developed is very short-sighted.
You are definitely a case in point about how play-testing development builds for an unreleased game, is not for the faint of heart, as you need the right temperament for it.
Gamers, over the last decade have been complaining about games being rushed to release and players beta testing fully released titles. That is not the case with SC, they are taking their time to get it right and I am here for it. I will play-test and give feedback until the game is as good as the developers can make it for the full release.

At about 5:28 minutes in, you said the game isn't loading in that much. This shows that you know nothing about Star Citizen. Every planet, moon, station, ship, person, animal, weapon, bullet, is being streamed in at the same time. In its current form, that is what's happening. That's why there's lag. Just because you don't see it doesn't mean it's not there. What will change the game is server meshing when it's done correctly.

You have to understand that this game is at the tail end of the engine development and the tools to create the world. What you see up to now is the mile wide pool of bugs. Once they are squashed there is nothing but content to fill the pool.

Well, the servers are a mess, it's not optimise and bugged so yes the game is not great for that, however shroud is use to well polished high pest games so SC isnt for him , by the way I agree with you, they take to long to release something that isn't important instead of adding more content and hotfixe , they fixe some bugs but not the game breaking one. Bruh I’ve been playing when all you can do is go into a hanger and just look at your ship 4yrs is nothing. And comparing this game to any other games they’re doing stuff that they have to make from scratch. Cause how many games can you go from being on a planet get in your ship and fly out without loading screens. It’s not something they can just do overnight and say here you go and I love this game and what they are trying to do plus trying to make everything little thing work no other game has done this. Most games a simple easy to play but star citizen is making up things as they go they have to make things from scratch so ya it’s gonna be buggy and there’s gonna be issues. Look, I'm not gonna tell you that you are wrong. A lot of the things you bring up are legitimate concerns. This is coming from a SC whale who's almost to Wing Commander status. This game however is the only thing like it... period. When 4.0 comes out will things get better? I'm not going to lie to you... Not right away. It will take them at least a couple of more patches to get it working as intended. I guess I'm a lot more patient than most as I also have a degree in IT heavily on the programming side. I understand better than most the monumental task this game is to create. I also understand that to the average gamer they can't see or understand the massive amount of work it took on the backend just to get where we are today.
My best suggestion to you is take a break. Walk away and don't even pay attention to the development for a while. Play other games or get a hobby... enjoy life. When you are ready the game will still be there and may be in a better state. Until then enjoy your break.

It's natural for people to burn out especially dealing with the amount of bugs and just janky behavior this game provides at it's current state. Even as patient as I am I've had to walk away for a bit now and then. It's understandable.
Might just skip the next year or so while all the big changes happen. It will be buggier then usual propably.

We all want the same thing here in reality but what's the expectation? we are all just gonna wake up one day and it's flawless? If the patch comes out and it's still a slide show how is that ok? And then everybody cries again instead of getting back to the game at the end of a patchcycle. I can forgive them as long as they still work on the frame that SC is built on. When they start working mainly only on content its going to be a bit different expectation whise. At least thats my take on it.

I bought the game back just before they split Squadron 42 from the multi player game package. I still maintain there is no game here. It has potential, but for what they want to do, the technology just isn't there yet. It is at least ten years away. The game is a buggy mess that is unplayable at the moment. I understand that there is limited point in fixing bugs when there is still more bug creating content coming but it just isn't fun to play at the moment.

I applaud this whole video!! You said what everyone’s thinking, but too afraid to say. All this money and all these years… Over 1100 staff members 500 devs and they move at a pace of an small indie team. We are also at a point where they could lower ship prices, drastically, and still make profit there’s no reason to have these exorbitant prices for the ships that probably won’t come out in the next three years. 😮 it’s unfair to the community as a whole for them to always miss promises and deadlines but yet still charge their community and not really give back anything. That’s my problem. They’ve made enough to operate by themselves now at this point they’re just picking backers pockets. Like the SC community is CIG Testers,investor,and fanbase but we get treated like a sugar daddy with memory loss.

I mean running the game fine then getting that kind of fps drop would seem like something broke, did it switch to iGpu or something? Because people saying they get better performance on a 1650.
