I have a sun cover on my zero turn and a Toro MyRide suspension system. Works great for a residential homeowner with a fairly flat lawn. Especially with a broken foot.

Nice review. As a 70-year old, arthritis, back surgery, hip replacement, last thing I want to do is sit on my butt. Stand-up mowing could be a nice addition to my regular workouts biking, hiking, etc.

I'm an old (74) guy too. I've found that the sitting position is harder on the back than standing. I really know it when I get off my zero-turn. I don't own a stand-on yet, but I do have a commercial walk-behind. I have used it for hours, with no back issues.

Same here man, I'm on acreage and mowing that weekly on a riding mower was wrecking my back...exactly the reason I started looking into stand on mowers. I'm now on year 2 with my Bradley stander, absolutely love it. I find it way less fatiguing than sitting on a mower for 2+ hours, but also it's WAY more fun!

I have a John Deere 652R I use for my small lawn care business. I'll never use anything else. Standing is easier on my back, it's more stable, easy to maneuver, better visibility, smaller, the list goes on.

I had never considered a stand on mower. I always thought that they were not much different than a sit down. You brought up an interesting point about size and center of gravity. I have steep hills and trees in my yard, so I don't use a riding mower. I use a push mower. I'm not against the exercise, it's just that I have a lot to do all the time and push mowing seems to take forever! I may consider purchasing a stand on mower because of your comments on how they handle hills and obstacles. I can't believe that they've escaped my attention for so long. My daughter says that you wake up a "good-for-nothing", and after doing something useful you become a "good-for-something". So far, your videos have given you the "good-for-something" label, at least in my opinion! They can be hard on a guy's pocketbook, however. Keep up the good work!

Interesting... never really thought about a stand on mower before, but you make some interesting points. Good video! I'd take any mower at this point... my belt broke on my Mahindra's belly mower and it is proving to be a challenge to find one in stock. Got one on order but could be a week or more before it comes in. Grrrrrr... lol

Thanks for the video! You've made some great points that I will be thinking over as I consider a purchase. I've only ever known a sit-down zero-turn (SCAG) from a past seasonal job. However, I've always been intrigued and fascinated by the Stand-On mowers that I have been seeing. I love the idea of a bit smaller form factor, among other things.

Growing up on the farm in the 1950s nearly everyone rode their tractors standing up 90 percent of the time. It wasn't until cabs became popular in the 70s that sitting down became the norm. At least around here.

Standing your knees and legs absorb the bumps and jolts, when sitting your spine absorbs it. My sit down John Deere zero turn beats the hell out of me. But, I have tons of low hanging trees to mow around and standing up at 6’2 I would never get close to the trees.

The suspension is the key to both a sit down and stand up 0 turn. From what I can tell, it appears that the brand Ferris Has more elaborate suspension system on both there sit down and stand up 0 turned Mowers.

I completely agree with the advantages of the stand on. Especially hills. I guess if I had knee problems or just liked to sit on my ass like most people I would feel differently.

I have zero exposure to a stand on mower. I never knew they existed but even I can see what you're saying. It appears to me that stand up mowing would be less fatiguing.
As for me, I use a Deutz tractor and slasher to mow my grass. I'm not on a small farm and we slash the grass to reduce fire risk. I live on a large island in the southern hemisphere.

Is curb hopping an issue? Alot of times we are going over tree roots or obstacles and find we need to lift the deck on the go. Is there any way to do that with the stand ons? I have a 60" Z994r and a 72" Z997 so looking for something smaller but can't make a decision for the life of me lol

My main problem with the 52” mower has been the mulch on demand.
