  • The Seattle Space Needle was built for the 1962 World's Fair. The model I used was made by Intentional3D in 2014. I printed it, THEN I scaled it up 400% and printed it again! Use Polyalchemy Emerald City Elixir filament on the Raise3D N2+ and the gCreate gMax 1.5XT+

    As a recovering "Seatte-ite" living in Tampa Florida, its always comfortable to watch something regarding Seattle. I think I will have to print the smaller version of the Space Needle to add to my collection of "fun things printed." Thanks Joel, and its great to meet another "Seattle-ite" into making stuff.

    Auction it off for the children's hospital. Also they are re making the real Space needle right now, so you will have to get a new model designed for the new look and print another one even bigger.
    Great Job Joel !

    I recently decided to 3D print DC-10 water bomber for a friend of mine who is obsessed with planes and has been a volunteer firefighter for 13 years. I searched and searched for a model and sadly couldn't find one anywhere. Just before I gave up hope I saw a model of a very similiar plane, an MD-11. I reached out to the creator and he agreed to modify it not just to look like a DC-10 but to include the tank on the bottom that is used for dumping fire retardant.
    I woke up this morning to a message from him saying its done, and I can't wait to get home and start printing the parts!
    Joel, you should totally print a could of plane to hang around your tower, and maybe some little people at the base for that sense of scale

    • @ColHogan-le5yk
      @ColHogan-le5yk 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That'd be really, really difficult. Not worth the effort. It's a niche, and I don't think it'd take off. Donating directly would probably be better.

      I like the idea, even if he wants to split it with charity, it is his so he has the right to sell it for his own pocket or not, but i absolutely love the idea of him doing that for charity. Also wouldnt be hard to find buyers, i know id wanna buy it.

    • @WolfRose11
      @WolfRose11 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@NataliesChatalie It would depend on the license of the model. If it is a Non-commercial license, he wouldn't be able to sell or auction it, unless he got the permission of the modeler.

    There have been some big grant programs lately to help community colleges set up maker spaces. The college I teach at (Hartnell College in Salinas, CA) was one of those receiving funds to set up their own space. You might ask around in your area and see if any of your local community colleges are setting up Maker Spaces and offer the print to them.
