- I invited 5 Indian followers to fly with me on Air India Boeing 787 flight from Mumbai to Delhi. Some of them are first-time flyers, engineering students and future pilots. Find out what happened on my Air India Flight!
2 female pilots were in charge of our flight. They spoke about their passion and motivation to fly. India has the highest percentage of female pilots in any country. During the flight, I explored Air India in-flight service offerings. Many passengers also spoke about their latest Air India experience.
Next week, I met with Air India CEO Campbell Wilson to hear about Air India’s future strategy “Vihann.AI” follow by behind the scenes of Air India's new crew training and India’s oldest in-flight kitchen; Ambassador’s Sky Chef.

Sam, give Air India sometime they have seen some really tough times in the past, with the Tata group- the original owners now taking over the airlines after 25 years of government mismanaging the airlines. Air India will comeback stronger. As an Indian I still prefer AI as that's the only aircraft that gives you the biggest baggage allowance of 32 kgs compared to all the fancy private airlines flying in India.
Also, it's super cool of you to venture in the jarimari area to see the flights take off.
Tata as a car company sucks also. Hey fix the disgusting pollution and filth in India first and teach people manners and cleanliness

The idea of having a Foundation to help people fly for the first time and experience the Joy of Aviation will be a remarkable thing. The first flight is always the one which gets rooted in your brain & heart. That is a amazing plan Sam. And I hope this lime lite on Air India will push them to make positive changes and one day be able to compete with the Worlds best players in the aviation Industries.

And Vistara Just Only in Dec 2023 recorded its First Net Profit in a Quarter.
They have to become world class alongside must also be Profitable. I think they should have Given 25% Share to Singapore. Singaporeans wouldn't let Air India to Overshadow their Singapore Airlines.
I doubt that. TATA could not make a splash with Vistara even though they had support, guidance and expertise of World's No. 1 Airline - Singapore Airlines.
But definitely it'll be lot better than it was under Government's ownership.
It will take the year 2027 atleast to reach the full fledge TATA's quality. (TATA planned extensive five-year transformation roadmap called Vihaan in 2022 to uplift the Maharajah to its past glory). I have patience and strong will to see that happening, do you?

I flew AI had the 747 out of Los Angeles to Mumbai. I took that flight in 2006. Although a lot of people complained at that time I thought it was the best flight I have ever took. Simply because the food was awesome. Had roti kadhi mater aloo and chicken tikka. Unlimited alcohol and those old school wide butt cushion seats. Air India is just awesome. India is just awesome in general.

Two of my sister's work for Air India. One is air hostess for the past 17 years and other one is a pilot who has joined 6 month's ago. We are Proud of Air India. I work for the Tata group. Iam very excited when it was recently brought back by the Tata group. It belongs to the Tata group as it was started by JRD Tata the founder of Air India. The Tata group will take it back to the rightful place as the king of skies. I also to thank you for covering Jerry merry I used to stay very close to that place and use to plane spot during my child hood days. I have seen British Airways concord, Airbus 380, Boeing 747 and other aircrafts from Jerry merry spot. Thank you for your channel. I watch your videos whenever I get time. Indians are naturally and potentially the best when it comes to hospitality and service sectors. The much needed overhauls, upgrades and modernisation of Maharaja as well as world class airports,trains and transport hubs that India is perfecting is truly phenomenal. In my view, 21st century belongs to India undoubtedly.👌
Air India was ruined due to abysmal customer service, and the poor maintenance of their Aircrafts. Even in this aircraft the entertainment system is not working. Tatas have purchased a headache.
Comparing your previous vlogs of air india prior to 2017, this one stands out to be amazing. Now that Air India is privatised, they are surely going to transform a lot in the coming next 3-4 years. Very excited to see their A350s & B777X. They also just got their first A321 neo in their fleet as well.
Hi sir I'm from India and I would like to tell that how big an impact you are in my life, I remember when I was in my 6th grade I saw your video of Singapore airlines A380 first class and from there I was so amazed that how an aircraft of that size could fly,I developed my interest more and more I use to research about all other aircrafts the entire day in my holidays and use to tell my father a lot about it and that is when I realized I just love aircrafts and that is why I chose to be an aeronautical engineer in my life, I'm currently in my school and I hope to pursue my further education in it ,so thank you so much for making me fall in love with aviation, keep up the good work

Tata are doing their best to turn around AI and the results are quite evident. However it is really difficult task to change the culture of AI and mindset of all old govt employees. It might take another few years before AI becomes a loving airlines. Best of luck to Tatas and AI team.

Hi Sam, I love this video, and the idea of taking along 5 travelers. I recall my first plane ride on a AI 747, in 1977 from DEL to JFK. Of course with multiple stops, DEL to Kuwait, to FRA, to CDG, to LHR to JFK

Great video Sam, I was born in Pakistan but of English parents, we travelled the world frequently from 1960's to 1990's ... coach class of the 1970's is now business class for 2020's unfortunately. But first class has improved considerably over the decades on most of the airlines compared to the 1970's first class. Remember PanAm, TWA, etc. ... we flew frequently between the England and Bahrain, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, India, Canada ... I was young but enjoyed every minute of it.
I have flown with air india several times between rome and new delhi and I must say that I have always found it good, especially in terms of food, always well cared for considering that it is generally a night route.
I was so happy to see you reviewing air India..,.as an Indian I feel proud that TATA is preparing the Indian subcontinent aviation industry....hope Sam chuii will rate us the best airline in the years

Agree with you Sam, the 747 is the most iconic plane. I was lucky to fly on one in 1996 on my way to Muscat, Oman from Mumbai. I was just a young kid then. One of the air hostess invited me a seat in the business class This experience on the 747 will remain with me forever.

Sam, I would have been skeptical of AI too, except for the new owners.. TATAs. With time, I am sure they will improve the customer experience immensely. I recall in the late 1970s when AI was among the best for service .

I know I have constantly said to you that I love the A380, but very recently, I flew on a B787 in economy class too, so now, I noticed how comfy the B787 is too, even if it is, probably the smallest aircraft of an international carrier in the world. But still, it seems to be very comfortable!
