@Lassi Kinnunen Did you miss the explanation in the video? They weren't changing the gap, they were reading the plugs. The read only works for one specific condition at a time i.e. idle is a condition and full throttle is another. They are interested in what is happening inside the combustion chamber at full throttle so they run it at full throttle for the 1/4 then shut it down immediately. Shutting it down right after the run is important because any idle time can start to obscure the burn details on the plug after the full throttle run. This is old school, this is what tuners did before computers and what I still do with my carbureted Harley.

Sucks about the head gasket but that’s racing.
In hindsight with no data logs you guys should’ve bailed on the night, especially knowing you had no fuel up top.
Then you guys get called out. Who can hold back when you just gotta represent.
They were data logging, but the computer was randomly not recording it. The pass before was logged, that is how they knew that it was dropping off fuel pressure.

Absolutely its bad to blow a head gasket racing. worse if you lost that race.
@@atubebuff Fuel charge burns slower when it's lean, so it's still burning when the exhaust valve opens and you get fire out the exhaust instead of fully burned exhaust gases. You can run lean if you crank up the timing and it won't backfire, but then you have a blazing hot oxygen in the cylinder, which tends to burn pistons and spark plugs.

Yup, since theres been so much low 8 second/couple 7-second passes on the channel, people don't realize how legitimately difficult and astronomically expensive it is to do all that in the real world outside of looking at a computer screen.

Hindsight is always 20/20! We dumped the boost out of it at the top of high gear to try and take enough power away that the fuel pump could keep up, hoping that we had made up enough ET in the early part of the track that she would sneak into the 7s.

i m not a carguy, but your channel somehow made dragracing interesting for me. i love the journey with Ruby. Even though theres no scripted storyline, the story is compelling enough to keep my attention throughout the journey.

I embarrassed that you are embarrassed there is no reason for that texas speed is a stand up company we all know. Sometimes the freedom gets to be too powerful to contain and it is even able to escape the safe that is a texas speed engine.
