Check the resistance of each plug wire with an ohm meter or multi-meter. The resistance will start to increase over time. Also, I’ve had the tabs break that links the wire to the spark plug
It wouldn’t hurt to check brand new wires when you get them and put them on, and that goes for all the vehicles in the shed! Just check resistance on them.
What an amazing car. 😱You always have crazy builds in progress and coming up. Keep up the great videos.😎 I hope to someday have builds as wild as yours on my channel.🥺I will leave it to the pros for now.😎
There's something strange going on in the aftermarket parts industry. I've been getting everything from bad electrical components to bad rotors and pads. I have a few theories but I won't speculate. Even if you visually inspect everything you're still going to run into bad parts. It used to happen once in a while but it's been a weekly occurrence lately.
They’d been cutting as much money out of stuff as possible for a long time. Then around Covid times a lot of things happened which tended to drive quality down. Those pieces will take a while to work through the system even if they’re producing good stuff now.
Many years ago I bought a car very cheap, mostly for the engine, after the previous owner had spent well over a thousand with "mechananics" who couldn't fix a misfire. First thing I did was pull the plugs and check the HT leads' resistances - one of the basic checks I was taught as a 'prentice! One 'plug was wet and 'sooty', suggesting an ignition issue, and the 2 part (BERU, IIRC) HT lead for it was open circuit for each part. New leads and it was running perfectly - to the point I decided to keep it as a run-around instead of stripping it for parts.
I totally get the 2JZ frustration. I've been trying to fix a break up issue for a while and it seems like its always something. Only difference is I don't have youtube money to throw at it lol
I've got to give some kudos to the Tuning plaform that we have for the N54 bmw cars. MHD has put into their software which is run on an average Android phone and they not only can do all the ethanol fueling and tunes for the average mads like down pipes and larger intercooler etc. But last year they added Anti Lag to it!! Just by holding the volume button or the cruse control lever you can fully Anti lag up to 15 pounds of boost! Amazing tech at an amazing price and on a stock block you can run safely up to 750 HP if you have a manual trans or about 625 on the Auto trans! This made me realize how great that is for the average car guy!
Yeah there is. My buddy has a bone stock red mk4 it's an auto non turbo. Giant turd lol and he doesn't want to modify it. Still has the factory rims too.
That’s fair, but it’s still very unsuspecting. Looks like a ratty Supra you’d find on marketplace for $18k because it’s already been beat to death. Most individuals with the funds to build the power plant would have definitely made some visual changes
Its great you figured it out, like Steve Morris says it's the small cheap parts that will cause you problems. That Supra is an animal! Cheers from Tokyo!

Man you can tell by the look on his face. When Cleetus got on the gas, and he said you got me in here with no gear. Once he stepped into it you could see the serious look on his face. Priceless haha!! It looked like a hell of a good time!!!
Use an Ohm meter and ohm out those plug wires, there may be one that reads different from the rest and look for any pin holes in the silicone insulation and boots. You could also hook them up one at a time to a coil, stick a piece of rubber in the plug boot and lay them flat on a grounded piece of aluminum foil in the dark crank it over and look for any spark's arcing to the foil through the insulation or around where the boots meet the insulation, it only takes a micro crack to let the sparkles through.

I’m so glad you got a badass Supra. Adds a whole new level of entertainment to the channel! 🤟🏼
Cleetus over here treating a compression test like it's Russian Roulette 😂
It is in some cases if you own a Subaru
A throwback to the old days of Ruby chewing through junkyard engines in every video..
LOL once that button was pushed. Supra said "Hold ON!"
We need another Christmas tree episode with the rad rod supra
Thank you Cleetus for the great video. I was having a bad day all day. You put a smile on my face and made me laugh. You are the best.
Bro pauls reaction is too funny 😂😂😂
Paul's face was the best wtf moment I've prob ever seen 😂😂😂
1:28 Funny af grandpa throwing back in the seats
Love the sound of a Supra!!! Thanks for another one guys. Keep up the good work.
Gotta love the supra videos they have a special type of energy.😂
There pure animals I’d love to experience something like this 😅
Cleetus you should put a cage in that rat rod. Stay safe brother 😊
The best thing I learned from Automotive classes is "Check your basics" Don't escalate to the compression gauges before you swap the consumables 😂
9:06 the sound cleetus made 😬
16:00 big win! I was rooting for it to be something simple!
Videos fixed! 😂
also..
We need MOAR DYNO RUNS! ✊
MOAR
MOAR?
Check them plug gaps brah. JDM territory now.
I love all your videos, but the Supra content is another level! ❤
Check the resistance of each plug wire with an ohm meter or multi-meter. The resistance will start to increase over time. Also, I’ve had the tabs break that links the wire to the spark plug
Someone needs to teach Cletus to test plug wires with a multimeter.
Literally the easiest thing to test is to throw on a new set 😂
It wouldn’t hurt to check brand new wires when you get them and put them on, and that goes for all the vehicles in the shed! Just check resistance on them.
Y'all realize high voltage does crazy stuff and a multimeter alone can't check dielectric issues, correct?
@@lordcommander3224 A hundred bucks in wires, or a free test with a tool you ought to own anyhow. Ur call.
@@FU-Utubeyou are uneducated about multi meters. Ever heard of microfarads? Didn't think so.. now leave the electrical work to people with knowledge.
I’m waiting for Harbor Freight to come out with a (budget) dyno.
Bauer or Hercules brand?
Project farm will test them for us
Let’s hope it’s Hercules. That’s the name they’ve been putting their good stuff under, lol
It come with free jack stands
Great video Cletus!!! Love the supra content.
That is so impressive that Victor and his guys were able to identify the problem remotely!
Cleetus ive watched this video at least 3 times and I still get a good chuckle every time. Thanks brother !
What an amazing car. 😱You always have crazy builds in progress and coming up. Keep up the great videos.😎 I hope to someday have builds as wild as yours on my channel.🥺I will leave it to the pros for now.😎
You got that right. Let me check your channel.😎
Do go and check this channels content.they have great content.
Gotta take Paul for another rip now that it's dialed in, to show him!
That's what was happening with Steve Morris; he was getting bad bolts and bad rods.
They’d been cutting as much money out of stuff as possible for a long time. Then around Covid times a lot of things happened which tended to drive quality down. Those pieces will take a while to work through the system even if they’re producing good stuff now.
@@NBSV1 like I said I have a few theories but some of them might sound a little crazy.
@21:03 The legendary 1/2JZ high Rev screams that those engines have 🍻
The Ringer mentions are great lol "you scratched my cd"
Idk if you know this, but a Supra isn't a sleeper, especially with slicks and a parachute haha
I totally get the 2JZ frustration. I've been trying to fix a break up issue for a while and it seems like its always something. Only difference is I don't have youtube money to throw at it lol
You don't have the money for new plug wires and fuel? 😂
A nice art project, attach a sweet mullet wig to the dyno marlin, it's good luck and adds 5 hp to whatever you dyno...
That anti-lag is just mental.
its also bad for a turbo's health.
@@arbiter1and pistons/ piston rings
Engine and turbo destroying*
@@arbiter1u gotta pay to play with this type of setup. What are you gonna do, just wait for that gnarly boost lag? Nah 😂
I love how no matter who’s in the passenger seat, they gotta look over at the speedo 😂😂😂
Well ....the driver can't do it .
In 2023 there is no such thing as a Sleeper Surpra.
Yea 😂😂😂
Yeah there is. My buddy has a bone stock red mk4 it's an auto non turbo. Giant turd lol and he doesn't want to modify it. Still has the factory rims too.
@@jeffklonowski6816
So it's just oem?
That’s fair, but it’s still very unsuspecting. Looks like a ratty Supra you’d find on marketplace for $18k because it’s already been beat to death.
Most individuals with the funds to build the power plant would have definitely made some visual changes
@@jeffklonowski6816that’s not a sleeper?
Its great you figured it out, like Steve Morris says it's the small cheap parts that will cause you problems.
That Supra is an animal!
Cheers from Tokyo!
Love the fact that it was only plug wires.... too cool
Glad to see Y'all are embracing the Japanese Chuck Norris of cars
That thing totally deserves a sweet paint job
Buying that car was the best thing you could’ve done im in love and I know others are too😭🔥🔥🔥🔥
"I hope Victor doesn't see that"- Puts the clip in twice.. We know what you were doing...
Man. Bad parts has been a serious thing. Mechanics are telling me soemtimes they are getting 2 or 3 bad parts before they get a good one.
Something so simple and it's fixed! Good ole old school, 90s, cars!!!
Great logic and clarity from George there. Not usually his forte but he excelled this time
Real ones watched this before the reupload
Is it me or no audio
Nvm. Audio working now
Bout gave me a heart attack
TH-cam does that sometimes to me too lmao. Usually closing and reopening the app works
That's how I got it to work and with other videos it works too.
Check the washers on the sparks plugs....plus sounds like air seeping in to the fuel... Check the tightness on your fuel hoses.....
That pull at the end was epic! Hit that button boy, Hit IT!!
Kind of wish you guys would put out a full movie.
Cleetus make that supra sound so good with how good he shifts omg sounds GRRRRREEEEAAAAATTTT
Awesome to see the Supra fixed!!! Time for a more efficient turbo and one that makes more power!
I wish Sweden had passion like this for cars. And that the fuel wasnt so expensive. Love the videos and just found your channel.
I Love that Supra!!!
That Supra did the most rowdy burn out while already on the highway near 60mph 🤤
