I am loving this so very much. Even if you stop here and never post again, this hasd been a wonderful journey. I am not going to try to actually learn Hebrew because I am nearly blind and have difficulty reading anything printed, but I am following along and maybe will learn a few words over time. Thank you so very much.

Thank you so much for this series.
I, and I'm sure many others, truly look forward to seeing more videos from this channel in the future. The fact that this content is free is truly a miraculous gift from you Mr. Ilan. I stumbled upon this channel a few days ago seemingly by chance, and truly, as a Hebrew learner, and an aspiring Biblical Langage scholar, channels like this have been a miracle to me.
    G-d bless 🙏

This is fascinating thank you. I’m an English speaker, learning French but I have always been curious & interested in Hebrew because my father and his family were Jewish. He was born in Czechoslovakia joined the French then the British army in the 2nd WW & married a British girl. He never went back and we were brought up as Christians. But I have always wanted to know more about my roots and my people. I am looking forward to your videos

Again, a quality in video, worth watching. And that, even for those who know some Hebrew. Keep showing that translators have and pick options, but there's more depth than what a translation can contain.

German: Es werde Licht, und es wurde Licht
werde Futur tense of to be
wurde Past tense of to be
If there is no direct subject in a sentense, we need 'es'
    Like in English 'it'
It is raining - Es regnet

Two questions: is Hebrew the original language of the old testament? Why is noun god in plural and the verb in singular?

    • @TheBibleInHebrew
      @TheBibleInHebrew  13 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

Hebrew is indeed the original language of the Tanakh/Old Testament.
About the word God being in the plural, it's probably a form of respect.

Elohim will be a big issue on top being royal we kind of plural. In fact is spirit of god hint of the multiple gods as one god … but at least they are all within one El.
But that is even more dramatic when we go to genesis 2, when yhwh is used instead of Elohim. In fact even the English bible translates these two gods differently. God for Elohim and Lord God for yhwh I believe.
The document hypothesis all started here about 120 years ago?
    Are there two gods?
Or per the hypothesis there are at least two different traditions of gods (one by the priest and one by the northern 10 tribes or biblical Israel; there will be four traditions in the hypothesis, plus at least 2 groups of reactors). The Hebrew styles here is totally different and in fact the behaviour of these two gods are very different.
I hope at least we can see style difference.
(I guess we will not touch about all are supplemental to D doc and history and many fragments; the more dominated hypothesis these days in academic study of bible. )

    Nice content here.
in the translation into Portuguese it says:
    "haja luz e houve luz"

Actually have a straight translation instead of trying to fit into another language is better.
