can a non-Jew learn modern Hebrew out of curiosity? I’m originally from Morocco but raised in Italy and as a former Muslim atheist I send my condolences for what is happening out there ❤️
Thanks for the video it is a good refresher. i don't really understand the conjugation of nouns tho. For instance, I would assume that the plural of women (nishim) would end on -ot but it does on -im, as if it were a masc noun. But I do have to conjugate the verb to the feminine form, like holchot instead of holchim. How is this possible?
All feminine nouns are conjugated +ot. Woman will be feminine because a woman is feminine 😉. I can make a video further explaining plural noun conjugations if you’d like.
Hello teacher, thank you very much for sharing your knowledge. The word תקל is ease but in Genesis 16:4 it is translated as despise it's right? please help
Most of them! My biggest mix up is remembering the pronouns out of context. I learned them in a song so if I don’t say them in order, I have to take an extra couple seconds to figured that out first. I really need to get on top of memorizing those first. 😆🤦♀️.
Hi Teacher (what is your name?), do you know of a book for learning to speak Hebrew that uses this method---transliteration---so that I don't have to learn the complicated aleph-bet? I saw your other lessons and they were very good, like this one. Thank you.
Hi I’m so happy to hear my videos helped you learn some Hebrew! My name is Matty 😃 unfortunately, I don’t know of any books with transliteration to recommend. I’ll drop a link here if I find anything.
No no! Learn the אב! You can do it! It's okay to use transliteration to practice speaking.... but after you learn to say it THEN learn the characters for each word you remember and know how to say.... learn to write the words you know.... learn the אב word by word.... no need to set out on a grand mission to "learn the אב!" One word at a time.... you'll learn it more deeply this way anyway.... kids learn to say what they need to say to get what they need and want and fill in the gaps as they go.... do that. 🙏❤️
We have done this in the southern US with our traditional use of "y'all." Dr. Rob Plummer uses this for clarification between second personal singular and plural forms in Greek paradigms on the Daily Dose of Greek.
The Hebrew “R” is rolled from the back of the throat, similar to French. I’m sure there are tutorials from native speakers that can help you out, but unfortunately I still haven’t mastered it myself.
@@multisingual1241 Wouldn't it also be ok to pronounce it as a trill or as tap/flap like some Mizrahim/Sephardim communities do, and since it is the biblical pronunciation too.
That was the after-meal blessing we say in Judaism. It’s called Birchat Hamazon (ברכת המזון) and you can probably find it online as well with the translation
Funny you should say that, since there's no such language. Hebrew happens to be the only extant language that's native to the Levant, so that's in fact the closest thing to "Palestinian" you'll be able to find. Otherwise go find one of the million Arabic language learning videos elsewhere and stop trolling this apolitical channel made by an American polyglot girl (who makes videos on many other languages besides Hebrew).
That’s a dialect not a language. I’m sure there are many Arabic speaking channels on TH-cam to help you out. Unfortunately my channel will not be of aid to you
Please do more Hebrew grammar videos. This was very useful.
Thanks for the request!
