    Thank you for these videos, I find them very illuminating for an english speaker haha I have a question if I may, "bara" in genesis 1:1 has different symbols under the letter compared to genesis 1:27 where bara has an extra symbol, I am curious about how this symbol changes the word. Thanks

    12:10 There is an equivalent word in the language toki pona. The word is “e” and is very important to separate adverbs from direct objects. If you drop “e” from “I eat meat” you might end up saying “I eat like an animal.” I wonder if Hebrew had any influence on toki pona given the similarity..

      @TheBibleInHebrew 23 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      Thank you for this interesting information! I wasn't familiar with Toki Pona until now, so thank you also for that. Since this language was designed by a linguist, the word “e” you mentioned may very well be influenced by the Hebrew “et”. I wonder if anyone can shed more light on this. However, note that “et” in Hebrew is totally non-essential from the grammatical point of view, unlike “e” in Toki Pona.

    • @MichaelJHinds
      @MichaelJHinds 15 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      @ would you consider it “non-essential” in the same way a native Russian speaker speaking English might drop articles like “a”, “an”, & “the”? The meaning comes across fine, but there’s definitely a “ye ain’t from around here, is ya?” vibe.

    min 11:20 pluralis majestatis is not attested in ancient Hebrew. this is merely an interpretation.

    • @TheBibleInHebrew
      @TheBibleInHebrew 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      It can be an interpretation. Indeed, there is disagreement between the noun in the plural and the verb in the singular. But looking more broadly, across the whole Tanakh/OT, there is a lot of evidence to support this interpretation. I will discuss that in a future FAQ episode.

    There are significant differences between ancient Hebrew(Ebri), which the Scriptures are written in, and modern Hebrew, spoken today.

    • @TheBibleInHebrew
      @TheBibleInHebrew 3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thanks for the comment. There are differences in style and some vocabulary between Biblical Hebrew and modern Hebrew. However, modern speakers can indeed read Genesis like a good novel. That's not the situation with old/modern Greek, or middle/modern English.

    What if the start of the script grammatically and historically had an A , ALEPH it would read A BERESHIYT ---ect Translated Gen 1.1 The Father of the beginnings, Created the Elohim, the Heavens And the Earth. Father is the source of all,everything who Created the Elohim the gods (angles the El) who where given knowledge which some have used inappropriately. You can choose to call FATHER God but this has caused generations of confusion. Confusion is not a character of Father who is Love it is from fallen El. Liars they are.🤗

    Suppose the creation story is not explicitly adapted to the science of our time, but wants to tell us something else! Suppose that the life-giving water does not represent something physical, but something immaterial. Could the three atoms of the water molecule be the optimal symbol for a triune God? Suppose that light, which was created on day one (not the fourth), illuminates the Son/Messiah and that the separation of the waters by the “rakia” the sky, represents the Son emanating from the Father. Exciting thought!

    Bara - singular Eloheem - plural ........... The first verse of the Bible itself shows the Trinity

    Are you sure about Elohim meaning one God/like the royal We? Are there other examples where it means gods? Could the scriptures be redacted to say the male singular to harmonize the Yahist interpretation?

    • @TheBibleInHebrew
      @TheBibleInHebrew 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thank you for the comment. From a linguistic point of view, God is referred to in the singular based on verb conjugation, but the name itself is in the plural, which appears as a contradiction. Elsewhere in the Bible, people sometimes use adjectives in the plural to describe Elohim (yes, we have different adjectives for plural and singular in Hebrew). However, this might also be a form of respect, since God does not refer to himself in the plural in terms of verb conjugation and pronouns. This includes the Ten Commandments, which begins with the pronoun “I” with all verbs in the singular. The only exception to this that I could find is famously Genesis 1:26, where some parts of speech referring to God (but not all) are in the plural.

    One issue discussed about the first word is whether it is not “in THE beginning” but “when” … a total different reading can be resulted. In fact Jewish study bible use “when”, with footnote … key is the mark is not two dot but one like a T …

    BERESHIT Beginning -- BERESHIT (We have words inside words) From Right to Left we see, Tent, Head Chief, Adonai-God, To Destroy, Hand, Cross or Covenant Bar-Son, Head, Thorn Cypress Tree, Gift, Covenant So with words inside words, it reads The Son of God, Destroyed by His own Hand, on A Cross with Thorns on His Head, Hung On a Tree, as a Gift on a Covenant. So Jesus was in the Beginning, yes, (John 1:1-5) "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. {2} The same was in the beginning with God. {3} All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. {4} In him was life; and the life was the light of men. {5} And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not."
