ADIDAS ADIZERO BOSTON 12 REVIEW - A 3 STRIPE SUPER TRAINER? LIGHTER & FASTER! - EDDBUD
An initial review of the new ADIDAS BOSTON 12, a brand new version of the classic BOSTON model, more maximal stack and now with an updated midsole thats a great deal softer and compressive than before.
A more maximal cushioned shoe with 41mm of stack in my uk 11 / us 12 makes for a great option for those longer training runs and even some speedier work. This could even work for some daily miles for some runners. A big weight reduction here from the last Boston model i tried out which was the 10.
This is a shoe i bought with my own cash, as per usual nobody is vetting my views before my valued viewers.
I comment on the upper, midsole and outsole after my initial runs.

This shoe is EXCELLENT!!! I have been using this for about a month now. What I love about the Boston 12 is that it is a very versatile shoe. I find just as much enjoyment in using this for my long runs as I do for tempo days and speed workouts. Great job Adidas 👏
Yes versatile is the word
Was Waiting for this review, great review as usual.
Much appreciated
Good that you added footage of your running in the shoe Edd 👍🏻
Lots in recent videos. More time on my hands during the summer
As always Edd, spot on with this initial review.
Fully aligned with your minior complaint about the upper - we need more padding to protect the top of the foot.
Adi hit the mark with this one. The ride is smooth and the foams blend well.
Solid improvement and I am glad that you are enjoying it too. 🎉😎
A mm or two on the tongue would be ideal!
We love the Boston because we know it will be like 49$ in 9 months.
No it won’t be reduced that much this time. The last 2 weren’t a patch on this.
Certain sizes already on sale on Amazon
😂 exactly!
Surely that must hurt sales for Adidas for their top tier shoes to end up on sale for so much so short after release? 🤷🤷🤷🤷
I just picked up mines for $116 courtesy of Uncle Sam.👍🏽
One of my favorite shoes. Absolutely LOVE running in them!!
Same here!
Great shoe. It grew on me, was not convinced at first, but now I love it.
Good choice!
I knew you would like these. NIce to enjoy something you will probably use more than the others you review. I have been glued to the trails, and riverparks near my home since I got my Saucony Rifts. That is the only place there is some Shade around here. 100 F plus / 38 C plus , here for over a week now. Makes it challenging finding time to exercise, and enjoy the outdoors. Thanks for the review.
Glad I picked them up
I’m glad you like these edd, and wow for the price with a promo code makes it a real gem
Best price I could find!
Nice shot at 6:47 . Feeling that "Boston Gibson"/'AdiGibs" vibe.
✌️😁
It’s brilliant!!! The real workhorse for adidas!
Yes they hit the spot this time
thanks for the review just bought a pair.
Great on a longer run for me today!
Hi Ed, I brought these beautiful shoes on your recommendation and i love it. I have to admit that im a Adidas fan. I have been away from training as im old and injury has kept me a couch potato for too long. I saw your review and went for it, its so comfortable and i think responsive. Thanks for all your get work i love watching your review's. Keep up the great work!
Superb versatile shoe and glad it’s hitting the spot for you.
Just got them, this shoe puts smile on my face, cannot wait to run in them again.. this dual foam midsole feels astonishingly good, almost i wanna say im glad its not only light strike pro here.. upper is niclely roomy, contrary to sen 8, lacing system is set and forget, contrary to pro 3.. so far sooo goood
They soften up nicely as you put more miles into them.
Another quality commentary Edd - well done! Thank you for the toe box comment!
Thanks for watching
Love these so much! Took it for 15miles the other day and it felt great. These make my easy pace feel way easier and quicker, it's remarkable. I will say the fit is very long and I needed to size down a whole size
Can’t say I find the fit long. True to size on my pair is spot on
Bought this shoe for my recovery and slower long runs. Great shoe!!!!! Thanks Edd
Great to hear!
I purchased it recently and I would purchase it again!
The little heel tab thing is absolutely needed for my type of foot. It makes it just so much easier to get the shoe on my foot.
The great design makes you want to wear it and run in it, and your run is flawless.
Glad it’s working for you
Bought mine a month or so ago, following online reviews.
Really impressed, around 40 miles in now, did a 14 miler in it a few weeks back and it was great for a longer run to.
Think Addidas have nailed it and at a great price vs others
Good balance here between cushion and weight.
Great review Edd. I changed from the Saucony Endorphin Speed 3 (wore them out!) to the Boston 12. And very happy I did too. For me they are more responsive and versatile with a bit more firmness.
Yeah the speed is much squashier this time round.
My favourite shoe right now. I agree with almost every you say, only thing I would say is if someone didn’t have the premium shoes this could absolutely be used as marathon shoe
Yes this thing is on pair with the Superblast for me
I picked up the Boston 11 late last year on 50%-off sale on Adidas's US site because I'm such an Adizero fanboy but, as much as I tried, I just could not get myself to like it. I don't mind firmness in the midsole every now and then and is sometimes preferred but the 11's ride just felt clunky and the upper wasn't comfortable either. So, I envisioned how the 11 can be improved and the 12 pretty much addresses all the issues.
I've put in 50 miles so far and it's become one of my two favorite daily trainers - the other being the Deviate Nitro 2. The two are similar when you compare the specs but they feel and ride quite different, so I won't say one is better than the other - just different at the same upper echelon level of versatile daily super trainers. I can say the Boston 12 definitely makes me want to go faster than I would with the DN2. You start running and it just beckons you to pick up the pace. The DN2 doesn't do that; when *you* want to pick up the pace, it just politely follows and does fine.
Very happy with the Boston 12. It's still not the most comfortable in terms of the upper and I still need to fiddle with the tongue and lacing to get the lockdown and comfort dialed in right (like with the AP3 and TS8) but, once dialed in, I don't notice the upper at all and just enjoy the ride that the superb combination of the midsole and outsole provide. It's peppy and has more of that race shoe feel than a typical daily trainer. I guess that's what makes it "super". It wouldn't be my first choice for easy runs but it's fine for warmups or cooldowns with faster tempo/threshold type of workouts. Overall, I'd say Adidas nailed it with this version of the Boston.
Best running shoe I have been in for years, 10/10 🤙🏃
It’s certainly right up there for versatility.
I did a few slow LONG runs.. Was not much fun at slow pace but my body was fresh afterwards.. No Achilles Tendon discomfort or calf muscle pain which is a problem for me at recovery pace. ❤❤❤
Certainly a leg saver. Seems to improve by all accounts after some miles too
I like the new 12’s and they are now my daily shoe with the Pro 3’s when I want to go a bit quicker. Just hope the upper of the 12’s doesn’t come apart like happened on my Boston 11’s 🤞
Hi eddbud 👋 , thank you for that review 😃 , its on my hit list bos 12 , just waiting for sale 😊 , ed you look like your absolute flying along in that clip 🤔 that would make a awesome vid eds speed demons 😃😃😃
Glad you enjoyed it Alan 👍🏼👊
Mine arrived from Wiggle the day after I saw your review - I managed to pick up the same discount which makes this shoe quite a bargain. I can't believe I can finally actually get my foot in an Adidas shoe with my regular size, and what is this a proper sized toe box. Only a couple of runs, has broken in slightly - but I'm really enjoying this shoe - currently been running in Speed 3 (450m) and the Superblast (230m). I'm finding the Boston 12 more stable than both of those shoes and I think it might fit my needs for a daily trainer.
Yeah it’s a little more accommodating than the previous versions.
Waited for your review and just ordered a pair. I think the tab on the heel will help me pull them on in a hurry in transition
They are a big improvement over the v10 / 11
Comparison to the Tempo Next% is a nice thing to hear. Planning to grab 1-2 more pairs of Tempo Next% when I can get a discount. And waiting patiently for the day I can retire the Endo Speed V3 due to heel issues that I can't resolve....Boston 12 might be the ideal replacement for the Speed V3 (which I found way too squishy as well).
This is the thing. People keep telling me they find the speed 3 too squashy now. The v1/2 was firm but forgiving. People are forgetting that a nice consistent shoe is best. Can’t have soft all the time
I tried a couple of slower runs in the boston 12 and they always turn out not so slow. It definitely suits quicker runs and thats a good thing. Much better than the speed 3 imo.
Some more stability in this one. A good balance.
Gibson hardshell 👌 makes a classy background for the closeup cut.
The SG in there. Still has the amazing odour.
@@EDDBUD it might be the only smell more exciting than new shoe smell.
Thanks
Many thanks for the support Sir 👍🏼👊
Many people who loved the glideride series from asics are going for the Boston 12.
Yeah I can see why. This and the Superblast stand out so far
I absolutely love the Boston 12. Use mine for almost everything, marathon training to Parkrun. A bit tight at first but they do loosen up. I might even use them for a race since they just work for me. Apart from my left big toe rubs & has worn the material a bit & put a whole in my sock.
Can see why people are liking these. Especially due to the retail price
Amazing shoe at all paces but best at moderate and up pace. Amazing off road because of the rods give propulsion and keep it flexible. I can't run off road in a shoe with a full stiff plate. TTS and good for wide feet. Feels like a reliable SUV.. ❤
Up hills it felt good too. The rods provide some pop
heading out in my modified 11 right now! (I removed the carbon platelet under the heel to make it a comfortable shoe). Glad to hear the 12 is softer out of the box. Maybe because they also removed the platelet? The old lightstrike, and pro, are pretty "firm" until they warm up, and the difference is noticeable. The nature of materials is that heat causes a material to soften up, and the action of foam compressing and releasing causes it to heat up. After about 15 minutes of running my 11 soften up. I'm wondering if the materials used by Adidas are more reactive to such heat/molecular action than midsole materials used by some other brands? Some seem to be pretty consistent regardless of miles and ambient temps.
Can you please make a comparison video of this vs takumi vs pro 3. Would love to hear your thoughts. Also please include your thoughts on if shoe would work for heel strikers in your review
Finally!
A return to a good Boston.
The new heel thing on adizero shoes doesn’t bother me. It’s a small bit of soft-to-touch material that stays out of the way. It’s the one quirky detail on an otherwise very straightforward shoe.
I may pick this one up once adidas deep discounts it.
✌🏽💙👟
Yes the ls 2.0 isn’t mega soft but it doesn’t need to be. Again I think this one will work well over a long period. 👍🏼👊
Marathon Sports dragged their heels so to speak on getting this model in, so I ended up with Puma DN2 from my local running store to fill out my rotation. Might grab a pair if I get a good deal tho. Tryin' for my 2nd marathon this fall and have Boston 2024 already lined up, so it won't be a wasted purchase to overload on good distance trainers
Quite a different shoe but both are enjoyable. Bit more squash in the Puma.
Nice!🎉
Just missed the podium
Best man
Best man. Or beast man? 🐈⬛
@@EDDBUD Yes, of course, Beast Man
Hi Ed.. Really enjoying your channel.. Much love from Brunei 🇧🇳. Would it be possible to review the adidas adistar cs 2.0 please 🙏.. keep up the good work
May take a look at that one. Thanks for watching
Got mine a few weeks back and love them. Been using them for my long runs in marathon training as far as 32k so far and will defo be using them on race day.
They sorted all the issues for me. Darn good shoe
Another classical Copa Mondial/World Cup (I was also an Adidas purist back in the footballing day) colourway, they look magnificent. Could even wear them to the pub, where maybe the energy rods would help you beat the queue to the bar. Anyway, frivolity aside, maybe take a look at these. The heel on Adidas shoes, especially with lightstrike, always makes me apprehensive. At slower paces the heel always felt stiff, to the point of feeling like it was making my brain bounce inside my skull. This newer, softer heel and midsole definitely sounds more attractive.
Had to grab the classic adidas version. Just seems wrong in other colours!
@@EDDBUD There are some pretty good colours in the Boston 12, but like you say the classic Adidas cannot be ignored.
It’s my shoe of the year so far.
Could be my shoe of the year too. Just saw the 2 oz added weight to the primex 2 strung
@@EDDBUD I wonder if we can judge things purely on weight though... Boston 9 is 1oz lighter than the Boston 12...
Thanks for the review! Glad that adidas realised their mistakes in the last two iterations. 😂
Glad you enjoyed the video
. Picking it up by September waiting for it to be marked down danke Herr eddbud
Not sure it will get discounted too often
Hi Edd, loving the reviews. Just secured myself a pair of the Boston 12’s. Loving the adidas shoes at the moment.
Just wondering why you wouldn’t go near any Nike shoe’s except the race models? 🏃♂️
Big, clunky, heavy aside from the vomero. Build is poor on those and they always seem to be poorly styled too. Whoever designs the uppers needs a talking to!
Cracking review Edd. I am so tempted by the Boston 12 but have so many other shoes I am struggling to justify. What I do lack in my rotation is a pair with rock solid wet road traction. How would the Boston 12 fare when it’s wet and raining?
The outsole seems pretty solid and versatile so far
You should really give the Duramo Speed a go
Just got mine in the post. The middle eyelets are weird. They need to be cinched down tightly for a secure fit, and the laces are super standard; like the type you get on casual shoes. I don't expect the laces to hold. My initial impression, just standing in them, is that the foam is firmer than a VF2. I look forward to breaking them in.
It was always going to be firmer than the VF2. That’s a full pebax shoe
@EDDBUD true. I'm new to running and am still learning the differences in shoes and rotation. I think I have it nailed down now... daily trainer, tempo, race (peg39, Boston 12, vf2). Since I don't have any desire to race, I was using the vf2 as my tempo shoe. Now, with the Boston 12, the vf2 will be saved for HIIT sessions and tempo long-runs.
Even though this shoe doesn't appeal to me all that much, I am thinking about getting a pair for the grip in the long 'wet road' months ahead. I already have the Deviate Nitro 2, which is the only shoe I have, that can handle the 'greasy' cycle paths around here, but it's just so damn unforgiving/dead at slow paces. I feel like I'm flying going full out, but otherwise I feel like I have a plank strapped to my feet. Which is an issue doing intervals. The More v4 will do for easy runs, but I need something for intervals/tempo runs.
Outsoles are most important in my area. Such variance in weather which can mean slippery surfaces.
Completely agree with you on Nike Shoes. Their range has been shocking for some time now. Bostons look the biz! Your channel is not good for my bank balance! 😃
Very impressed with the Boston updates. Nike perplex me right now
Ah you liked these more than I thought you might. Interesting you liked the upper as found it rather generous and I had to cut my laces as had to pull them in so much. Done a fair bit in mine now (63 miles) including today although towards the end of an hour easy felt my toes almost going numb as seems really firm there. Guess if this what is now considered a super trainer then I find the Adios 8, Sen 9, Adios Pro 3, Prime X all more super. Also I don’t think you said if you preferred this over the “classic” 9. Although bit heavier (by 30g fit me) the Boston 11 fits my narrow long feet better than these. That said not a bad shoe for me the Boston 12 but being picky the Speed 3 is 60g lighter for me as was the Peg Turbo 2 so this kind of feels second best to those in the lightweight trainer category. Does generally seem popular though.
Totally different shoe to the Boston 9. Almost impossible to compare. This is very much it’s own thing now. But a massive improvement on the last couple.
@@EDDBUD yeah at least the Adios & Boston are now very different. They had started to become quite similar. Also the days of low stack daily trainers are pretty much gone. I get the feeling the old Bostons weren’t selling well. And at least they now do my proper TTS :)
My first run in these resulted in a heel blister. Got some Balega padded running socks and I am enjoying them more now. Not much heel padding though.
Sock game is always good to fix a shoe
Not picked this up yet, my Prime X arrived yesterday though and enjoyed my first run in them this morning
Few others match the primex!
Hey Edd, I was interested by your observation on Adidas sizing. I am a typical 9uk in Nike and previously needed to go to 9.5uk for the Pro 2 and TS8. So for 2023 releases you'd go for a 9? Thanks
I found the pro 2/3 and sen 8 along with the Adios 8 all true to size
How would it compare to something liken the Endorphin Speed 2 which is my favorite "Daily Trainer" probably ever. Wasn't as keen on the Speed 3. On my 2nd pair of Speeds V2 with a another pair in the wardrobe not even worn yet! Is the Boston 12 a contender to replace my beloved Speed V2 ?
Bit more bulk in the adidas shoe. The speed is perhaps a little softer but the adidas might keep its feel for longer
Edd, always struggled with the lacing on adidas shoes, the Pro 3 and Takumi Sen 8 were great shoes but getting the laces right was a pain. Are these the same?
I had no issues. Was a set and forget situation.
Great content as always Edd! Wondered if you count help me, I’ve recent had the Adios 7’s and the Sen 8’ but as I run on a mixture of even and uneven surfaces they’ve both gotten holes in the mesh of the shoe after about 3 months of use (I run around 100km a month). I’m therefore looking for an adidas shoe that’s a bit more durable and wondered if the Boston 12’s were the answer? Cheers mate.
Only wear on an upper I’ve ever seen was in the Boston 9.
Perfect, thanks for the response mate, think I’ll give these a try!
I over pronate but looking for a quicker shoe, i have the saucony tempus but not getting on with that at the moment. How is the stability in this shoe? Great vid keep em coming 👊
It’s ok. It’s a firmer type of suction though this version is that bit softer than the 10/11.
Waiting for my replacement to arrive. Went true to size and it just did not work for me, I don't think the rods were lining up correctly so I would leave all my runs limping in it, even though I got the same size I do in the PXS, AP3 and Takumi 9 and those work fine. I had the same issue with the Metaspeed Sky+ and sizing up fixed it, so fingers crossed it doesn't drown my foot and works because I really want to like it
Interesting. Some say it’s too long. Others say it’s too short! I found it spot on true to size
@@EDDBUD I think fit wise it was spot on true to size, but something underfoot was not working for me. Maybe I'm just too dainty for the shoe, who knows
I've run around 30k in my new Boston 12. It is a good but flawed shoe. The midsole is great and does become more soft and springy after the the first 20k. However, the lacing system and lack of comfort in the upper are disappointing. My use case will be limited to tempo runs and some speed work. Ultimately, I think the shoe doesn't suit my narrow foot shape and as a result it feels just a bit wide in the forefoot. Strange when I measure it against my Puma VN2 they are almost identical in the width of the shoe and forefoot platform, but the Boston does feel like a big shoe to me.
Can’t say I agree on the upper.
@@EDDBUD I will try them with my thicker, cushioned and plush CEP socks - maybe that will help with the comfort aspect 🙂
Yeah agree on the upper for a relatively narrow foot that I have as well. Thst said it is not too bad now after 63 miles and pulling in the laces a lot - so much so I had to cut them as had way too much excess.
Are you still planning to pick up the Vomero? As Nike daily trainers go, I was optimistic for ReactX, but then they made the Infinity Run into a pair of anvils (and it doesn't sound like the foam is that drastic of an improvement to the ride, which kind of eliminates my hope of the Peg 41 being a major improvement either). But on paper, I'm definitely on-board for the max cushion ZoomX shoes, and I know you were a big fan of the Vomero 16!
Yes but that’s the only Nike I’m excited about.
Fair enough! 😂 The Nike trashing the past couple videos has been pretty great. Certainly not undeserved.
Ed, the people want more frontal shots of you running while looking like you're gonna punt a toddler if he steps in your path.
I never look like that
@@EDDBUD My toddler’s words, not mine.
I've already got too many shoes that do the same job as these but it's good to see Adidas finally making some changes for the better in the Boston line. Looking forward to see what updates have been made to the Adios Pro 4 which should be out very soon.
Really gutted they added almost 2 oz to the strung 2.
@@EDDBUD Yeah, that's a shame. I was converted to the Prime X original from your glowing reviews and when it went on sale I hit that Add to Cart button faster than you can say 'midsole now' and it hasn't disappointed especially in straight line speed.
Thinking about getting the puma foreverrun nitro for easy/steady running and the adidas takumi sen 8/9 for faster efforts. Ran my adios 6's into the ground😂
The foreverrun is a great shoe. Should work of what you need 👍🏼
@EDDBUD do you think there is enough of an upgrade on the takumi sen 9 to pay the premium over the 8?
@@mwyllie18I can answer that: no. The difference is very minimal.
The only complaint I got for this shoe's looks is the lack of the three stripes logo at the inside part of the upper ! Did Adidas save some weight for not adding a small three stripes stickers in there ?!
Nah always go for less is more 🤣👍🏼
Hi just a question on sizing. I had to go up half a size for the adizero SL to a 9.5 and was looking to upgrade from those to the Boston 12’s. Would you go the same size in the Boston as i did for the SL’s? Thanks in advance.
The sl was weird in sizing. Go true to a size on your bostons.
@@EDDBUD much appreciated thank you for the quick response!
@@jamieb4623 Glad to help!
Danke scön edd. Good work. Maybe you could get rid of the background music. That’s just annoying 😂
It’s been in the last 800 odd videos so no I shan’t be changing it up.
This 12 is a culmination of advice and correction.
Probably gonna get a pair, even though they're not the prettiest.
Felt good on the longer miles
Prefer to get Adios Pro 3 on sale.
There are some good deals on the pro 3 right now
For beginner daily trainer, which donu prefer sir between boston 12 or asics novablast 3?
For beginner the novablast is maybe better.
@@EDDBUD is boston 12 can be used for daily trainer?
lost all of those two pieces of rubber of the heal on my Prime X Stung, it looks like a design problem, although I didn't have this problem with my Adios Pro 2. Hopefully, this one won't have the same.
My primex almost look new back there after 140 miles. It’s just fine I think.
@@EDDBUD yeah, that was my expectation after putting 850km on my Adios Pro 2, the Primex last 550 km.
thanks for the great reviews!
Continental rim cement... bicycle inner tube...
Are these good for flat feet? Ty!
Bit of arch support there. There’s better such as the very flat altas and such.
I’m looking for the best shoes for a road race 5km but want them to last a while. Any recommendations from anyone??
For a race go for a light super shoe. Puma liberate or streakfly.
I'm a forefoot /on toes runner what would u recommend?
Maybe try the Takumi sen instead.
have you tried this in oval or for track workout? how was it?
Not yet. I have only limited access to track sadly
Bonjour la mousse strike 2.0 est elle plus souple svp ? Merci
Yes it’s a little more flexible and soft. Not a huge amount but enough to make the shoe more comfortable.
@@EDDBUDmerci beaucoup 😊
I think it looks great apart from that silly little heel flap.
That’s what they made scissors for
I change my mind i take this shoe instead zoom streakfly my mate😂
Very different shoes.
Boston 12 vs Brooks Hyperion Max?
Max just arrived so I can test it soon!
Haha, told ya you'd like it
🤣👍🏼
Rip Mamba
I have yet to try an Adidas shoe that doesn’t blister my heel. Everything else usually feels great. 😢
Amazed I have not found this at all
the question is: Heel tab up, or down? 😀
Scissors. 🤣👍🏼
@@EDDBUD 😁
I just wish all adidas would actually let runners with higher volume wear their shoes.
Certainly a bit more width here in this one.
@@EDDBUD I couldn’t wear it still. The fit is a little better (and the lasts width is great) but I can’t do uppers that feel like they’re trying to pull my foot through the earth
I went 1/2 size down, otherwise, the shoe feels longer than Boston 10/11.
This is the Boston 12. A few years back I was an 11.5 in adidas. Not anymore.
@@EDDBUD Oops, I meant to say 10/11. Wear the 12 for its first tempo run this morning and felt great!
Yo, on the beach drinking Sangria
🥉
Hi
🥈
The boston 10 was just plain awful totally fucked my legs up on easy runs.
And I am really light, it just didn’t work for me, I used to run even in the New Balance 1500 or how it is called. So that shoe was just -10 ever since I have never bought an Adidas shoe again, and prolly will never buy any of them. Aswell like they make pretty bad easy run shoes (except the ultraboost maybe)
And yeah Takumi sen is worse than the streaklfy and is more expensive and just slightly more affordable than the Vaporfly (which is just worlds better) what should you use a Boston 12 for??
Same here on the 10. Was a heavy beast. I do like a nice light shoe. The Superblast is perhaps the ultimate balance between cushion and weight for me.
U think even the invincible downgraded ??
No it’s nothing like the invincible.
@@EDDBUD if you say it’s like the Nike tempo, it’s worth a try❗️

@@EDDBUD 2 in a row? This shoe has been on my mined for a while. The 11 was a complete useless shoe for me in the end
@@richardrendell9363 Complete change here in the 12
Hey Edd, check this short video with B12 midsole exploded: th-cam.com/video/Iw7Ki5lF5Rg/w-d-xo.html
B12 is great but I got plenty of use to my B11. I got both. But I'm heavy (100kg) and the bricky more stable B11 suits me to heelstriking and gym. So I think they two work to me.... great rewiew!
Too firm & stiff for me , am selling mine and getting the speeds 3, much better IMO
Very different shoes in fairness
went half size down and it was still too long haha
Really? Seems fine to me
Same here! I ordered my usual 9.5 and returned it for a 9. Still too long so I exchanged it for a 8.5 now lol. Hoping the width is fine after going this small now..
