By year 2040,target for Trivandrum port should be handling of 3 crore containers or 30 million containers per year.Hopefully as port grows, by year 2040, berth size should be increased from present 800 metres to 4000 metres so that 10 motherships can dock at the port same time

Kerala gov contribution 5500 cr for this project, adani contribution 2500, and central gov gave 800. Total budget of around 9000cr for now seeing 1st phase. Phase 2,3,4 are yet to be constructed by 2028-2029 deadline and further adani group will be investing 20000crore more for the total completion. This semi-automated port has a natural birth depth of 20-24meters which no other ports in india have which can bring in the worlds biggest motherships like MSC IRINA & ULCV( ultra large container vessel's )easily. This port also stands in a strategical point of just 10 notical miles from international shipping route which will help reduce whole indias logistics cost and boost our economy.its India's first transshipment port!!

That's not the purpose of a Container Transshipment Port. At such a port, containers are unloaded and reloaded. For example, a big container ship may unload containers that are loaded unto smaller ships to lower transportation cost. The smaller ships would transport to smaller ports.

Stop spreading fake news. The Vizhinjam Port proposal was made by LDF Govt under EK Nayanar but it didn't make any progress when the next Govt (UDF) came to power. The Project was once again taken up by LDF Govt under VS Achudanandhan, although tender was called for the then Central Govt (Congress) refused to proceed stating the lowest bidder being a Chinese Company, security will be an issue. Later, yet another tender was called for wherein the State Govt also put up tender but the lowest bidder was another South Indian Co but since Adani had an eye on the Project the tender was cancelled citing some technical issues. Finally, when Ommen Chandy was CM (under UDF Govt), he signed the proposal with Adani, strangely Adani was the only bidder. A lot of politics was played in building the port. And isn't it strange that it's a Chinese Company that's actually building the port with Adani having nothing to do technically and is there no security issues now? Double standard approach. I know you’re a Dhruv Tatti follower so my comment will go over your head, but the phase 1 is funded 5500cr by the state, there are 4 phases and total cost will be around 18k cr out of which 12k cr will be funded by Adani Group, 5500cr by state and remaining by Central government. The state govt technically owns the port but it’s legally Adani’s for 40 years.

Yes, they did oppose to Adani being given the tender for the same although, the State Govt was willing to undertake the Project. Glad to see the Mother Port becoming a reality and Vizhinjam Port being placed on global trade map. Credit goes to the State Govt, Central Govt, Adani Group and the Chinese Company involved in building the port and installing the massive cranes. Hats off to all the workers who toiled in day and night for months to make this Project a reality. Congratulations 👏👏👏

Contribution of Govt. of Kerala is more than 5500 Cr. for this project, Adani contribution is 2500 Cr, and central govt. gave 800 Cr. accordingly. Total budget is around 9000cr for now seeing 1st phase. so the biggest contributor and the owner is Kerala Govt. then how can you say that it is Adani Port?
