A small piece of adhesive sponge tape applied to each of the yellow pads on the clamp will help stop the bottle flying out. You can even put a hole in the end that takes the pointed lid, the same as you've done with the pad itself.

Buy some small ball bearings and put one in every paint bottle to shake and mix....just beware that when you pour them out that the ball doesn't sit in the nozzle and block the pour...it sometimes happens

I have used ball bearings before and found they work well. One thing to remember is to use marine grade stainless steel ball bearings so they don't rust or react to the paint.

Works better as a paint mixer than it does as a jigsaw :)

After seeing that maybe I’ll but an 18” Bessy clamp in my sawzall and see if I can mix a gallon can of paint.😀

Of course your vortex mixer can't properly shake paints, it looks like you're using it wrong. You shouldn't press bottles at the bottom or at the top, but from the side. Just like with HobbyMio. If you don't then steel/glass mixing balls aren't doing much and they're stuck at the bottom or near the nozzle. Big part of success you attribute to HobbyMio comes from it shaking bottles on their sides, allowing mixing balls to fly everywhere they can, not only at the bottom or at the top. Naturally, vortex mixer's engine could be too weak to properly stir some thicker paints, but try to hold bottles properly and see if there's any difference (apart from putting two mixing balls inside as it's better than one).
Take some empty, clear 17ml bottle and put two mixing balls inside and then press it against vortex mixer lid, bottom and side. You'll be able to see how they behave and why side-pressing is the only way to go with vortex mixers.

I agree about pressing the bottle on the side for the vortex mixer, however the vortex mixer I have is hit and miss when trying to trigger the switch holding the bottle on the side. I am sure there are other mixers that may work better. I also recognise that these types of mixers are not specifically designed for model paint and are more suited for test tubes.

There’s a sweet spot in that device. Eventually you can find it. Also, remember you can lay the paint on its side and center it on the mixer. Try that and then rotate it along its longest axis 180° and do it again. I think that and other techniques may improve its performance for you. Thanks for this video!
