I watch a lot of video essays because I like having smth long form on while I work and usually I’ll be like “huh yeah that’s some cool analysis” but his stuff is what’s made me go “whoa! That’s a whole new connection, I’m going think about this movie totally different now!” Would recommend if you like podcasts, his vids have a very chill vibe and are quite thoughtful

And while a sequel hasn't been announced yet, there are a number of marvel titles that have release dates, but haven't been officially announced.
Not sure that you understand that $50mil less in budget and $20mill more in box office is a significant difference in profitability. That, and official Marvel producers denying there will be a sequel.
Suicide Squad, Arcane, and No Way Home, in no particular order except when they came out, were the best of anything in 2021. Arcane makes all of the Marvel shows, including Loki (which I really, really liked), feel like they were written by a 12-YO.

I saw a really cool documentary on Giallo at one point, i can't remember where or I'd point you to it, but Giallo meaning Yellow was actually the precursor of Slasher films as a genre, out of Italy. Characterized by Noir'ish styles and POV shots of the killer, murdering ladies, etc. That's all I remember.
The Flaspoint storyline sees Flash change a lot of continuity but not in a good way so I'm sure any changes in The Flash flm won't define the future of the DCEU
I mean rebooting that mess is probably the best idea but I don't think making flash first move a Flashpoint movie is the way to do it. Flash deserves better Ezra Miller sucks as flash.
"Intentionally terrible" take about the new Matrix gets on my nerves as well. Some people seem to think the Wachowskis can do no wrong, they are this holy writer/director duo that just shits out masterpieces no matter what, and every single thing that is bad about their works are some sort of elaborate critique that dumb people just don't get because it's too philosophical for them or sth... I would just like to remind those people that this woman, along with her sister, also wrote and directed Jupiter Ascending, one of the worst movies I've ever watched in my life. Just all around terrible, terrible movie. And I don't hate Wachowskis, V for Vendetta and the original Matrix are two of my favorite movies of all time. But some directors are like this, when they're good, they're really good; and when they're bad, they're just bad. Just get over it.
Hard agree. Matrix and V are great but everything since has been decreasing returns. I actually loved Sense8 but they seem to have carried over a lot of the feel of that show into the movies and it just doesn't work.
DCEU retconning their “bad” movies like BvS and WW84 seems pretty lazy, and mean-spirited. And I hate WW84, but I’m sure it has its fans. Is retconning really necessary?
Assuming there's any truth to the rumours, I think it's probably less about erasing those movies than it is about setting things up to go forwards - getting Chris Pine back for WW3, and replacing Batfleck with Keaton's.

Have you watched The Expanse? It’s one of the best Sci Fi shows ever and deserves a bigger audience. The Amazon seasons takes the show up to the sixth book, and there is another three that won’t be adapted without some broader appeal

In other words the success of this movie can't be solely on one fairly bland spiderman especially when other marvel actors also went through dozens of projects without a proper paycheck, some of these being established actors. As prominent as an actor seems to be in carrying a film - and yes, they are generally the face of its marketing - they are truly such a tiny piece of the overall equation. At the end of the day, actors are usually little more than walking talking props for the director. There is a mountain of work that goes into each and every released movie, 99% of which has nothing to do with the actors. Everyone else on the movie needs to get paid for their heavy workloads as well, so you may wanna ease up on the raving fanboy celebrity-worship. Holland is nothing today without the MCU, not the other way around.

Though I should point out that the success of No way Home can't solely placed on Hollands appeal. Tbh the other two Maguire and Garfield also played huge roles in hyping the movie as well as the general lack of competition throughout the year with other marvel offerings being dissapointing/subpar or negatively impacted by pandemic related issues. In other words the success of this movie can't be solely on one fairly bland spiderman especially when other marvel actors also went through dozens of projects without a proper paycheck, some of these being established actors.

As prominent as an actor seems to be in carrying a film - and yes, they are generally the face of its marketing - they are truly such a tiny piece of the overall equation. At the end of the day, actors are usually little more than walking talking props for the director. There is a mountain of work that goes into each and every released movie, 99% of which has nothing to do with the actors. Everyone else on the movie needs to get paid for their heavy workloads as well, so you may wanna ease up on the raving fanboy celebrity-worship. Holland is nothing today without the MCU, not the other way around.
@@Dash101 Sony pay him, not Marvel, and it's nothing to do with the success of the film, it's standard practice with these films because of budget, work load, expected box office and star power as well as what they bring to the table.
