I may sound a bit biased but its because I was born and raised in Brooklyn and I love my city. I have to disagree with the buildings being owned by Jewish people. My mother moved to Brooklyn back in the 1960's and brought three brownstones (we're black) and I lived in Crown Heights/Bed-Stuy where the majority of homes were owned by black middle class families. Through gentrification, quite a few black families were brought out but I still know many who reside there still. As for the transportation, there's transportation everywhere whether a train and/or bus so if one doesn't work or isn't in operation, another one will. The saying goes, If you can make it in NY, you can make it anywhere and its very true.

There’s nothing to do disagree about. I said “a lot” of buildings are owned by Jewish people and there’s data to prove that. I also believe a lot are also owned by black people which is also amazing. Both things can be true. These are just things that I wish I knew prior to moving. Thank you for your comment!

Moving to that area has always been a dream of mine. But I’m old now. I don’t want to bounce from to state-to-state.
I’m looking to settle down for the rest of my life. I’m not super old, but I do feel as if my life is beginning to wind down.

Abridged version... Don't come to NYC if you are not college educated and have a 6 figure income or some white collar job ... She will never have the problems someone of a lower class will have ... She sounds middle class and educated... I'm sure you will love it here and have fun posting Instagram stories of trendy foods ... Signed Native new Yorker

I know plenty of people who live here and aren’t college educated but they do have some sort of trade that makes money. I definitely understand that I am privileged, but I worked my ass off to get to where I am currently. I was raised by a lower class single mom in LA and I am not ashamed of that. Thank you for your comment.

Sorry, not all (or not even most) apartments are owned by jews in Brooklyn. It depends on the neighborhoods or where you're looking. Also, the 7th av and 8th av train lines run thru Brooklyn and Manhattan. They do not run on the same route. If there's a problem with access to and from Manhattan, you can find a station where you can switch from one to the other. Get a train map or ask a token collector. Also, the Coney Island trains run on different tracks. They will also eventually provide an alternative. Good luck, but do a little more research. You'll get the hang of it.

I did not say all or most apartments are owned by Jewish people. I said “a lot”. Which is true.
I definitely agree that you can find other stations to get to Manhattan but to avoid that it would be easier to live by different train routes (if possible). Where I’m located in BK, it’s very inconvenient for me to find another station to get into manhattan. Again, not impossible but inconvenient.
I think you inserted a lot of what you heard versus what I actually said in this video. Thank you for the well wishes.

@Taniakristinaa you'll find out that things will get simpler for you as you get to know the ins and outs. Takes time. I'm from Bedstuy originally. I can remember when public transportation was 15 cents. You'll be ok.

Ummm yea No.. First off am born and raised in the Bronx and you have only lived in this city for 6 months and trying to give advice but your background is of only Manhattan I mean, you should mainly give her idea to me probably about Brooklyn since that’s where you live and just because you live by three different trains they all don’t go the same place. Yes, it gets you into Manhattan, but the lines are different. I feel like if you’re there for some years then maybe you would have a widerfeel for the city. But I wish you luck.

@@Taniakristinaa Yeah it's human nature! I also think people are not understanding the target audience. This video isn't meant for people who've lived their entire life in NYC. So many people in the comments were upset about your comment on Jewish landlords. But what they don't realize is that Jewish populations as large as the one in NYC can be a culture check for many people. I saw more Jewish people in my first day in NYC than I saw in my entire life growing up in the PNW. And so things like Shabbat may be things people really don't consider. Also many people have not had to take things like public transportation before (due to car reliance in most US cities) so having access to as many train lines as possible is also great advice.
