These videos always make me feel much better about my own home. What I've learned watching these videos is if you are pretty well off in NYC you can afford to rent a dump.
Nah NYC has some of the best opportunities in the world if you’re there for the right reasons. Don’t live there anymore but went to undergrad and worked there. Some of the best years and memories of my life
@gg025, those opportunities you are talking about are long gone as a native new Yorker I have to say yes 10 years ago there were opportunities. Not anymore. It’s all down hill now.
I'm glad you went back to tour the 1st place, the layout is perfect for a couple to share, and it's no longer creepy lol, 2nd building I would be turned off by the construction zone, it will block whatever view you have by the time it's done plus all the noise/dust, 3rd place has a weird layout but I saw a lived in tour of a similar apt which looked great and all the comments were positive, 4th place has the best appliances and view, happy Sunday!
Charles is so funny, I always enjoy when he shows up with the latest and greatest! I guess living in NYC must be pretty great? I can't imagine a small living area costing so much per mth. I have a whole house with a yard and a garage for $400. Mth- LOL- BLOWS MY MIND!
Cash, my last comment was that you should do Before & After videos of apartments that are in utter disarray; so that we can see the finished product. And I believe this was the apartment that I was referring to. So "I Thank You." Well done! It is truly amazing being able to see the transformation of this living space. Viewing this apt a second time is a completely different experience.
I enjoy these videos because you show many places I remember from the sixties and seventies, in NYC and Brooklyn, Cash, but I have to say i love knowing I never have to rent any of them. I used to get so shocked when you or Charles would tell the rents, but lately I say, how NY it is. I look forward to your next ones.
I love this guy except for when he slams the kitchen appliance doors then the "Mom" in me wants to smack him... LOL ( and Charles probably wants to too!! (Joking!!) I love Cash !!
Why does he beat everything up when he touches it??? Slamming appliance doors, throwing things around. I'm willing to bet everything at his house is broken/damaged!😂😂😂😂
I watch your videos to feel good about my home in the the suburbs of Washington state. Who knew that my house is actually a palace?😂 Thanks for the lesson in appreciation!
Instead of living long enough to become the villain. The first apartment lived long enough to become the super hero. And the second to last apartment was pretty unique.
You are hilarious in this video Cash, on fire. I live in Australia and although I’ve never been to NYC yet, it’s on my bucket list! Your videos bring the place alive for me. And watching this video made me actually laugh out loud. Don’t go anywhere and keep posting those vids please ❤
This is so much better Cash Jordan. You got straight into it and straight to the point. You didn't go past all those useless food places that we don't want to see. Great work.
Hi Cash and Charles I like tiny NYC apartments. Easy maintenance and I can be a minimalist. It’s hard when I like to do arts and crafts. Overall it’s a nice small apt. Stay well and safe 👍
I was born and raised in NY (Queens and LI) and left for good when I was 30y.o. After joining the military at 18, I realized there were so many places to live that were much better; safer;cleaner, and much more affordable, close to cities or at the very least major towns that have great restaurants, shopping, entertainment, cultural venues, etc. Some of these places are even in the city in some states. After that type of exposure there is no way in heck I would pay an exorbitant amount of rent to live in a closet, with rats and criminals for neighbors. No way!
And teach him the names of things like "old school windows" are casement windows and in steam heat buildings the "heater" is called a radiator and the hot metal pole is called a riser because it brings the hot water to the radiators and sinks. Also tell him it's not cute to crash around apartments and that the photos in front of the cheap restaurants look nothing like you are going to be served.
Cash I love your editing techniques. The Way you show the apartment is awesome I'm a single family house designer in Beautiful British Columbia ( Canada) I m learning so many things from your videos N practicing n soon gonna apply in my videos Thank you 🤝✌️
I want so bad to hear Charles' wittiness, but not gonna happen unless I turn up the volume and let Cash blast me off the couch. Sad face because of a "soft spoken man"... isn't that a song?
I can't believe that the thought of placing a bed in a room with no windows against a door that has paint on the other side- sounds like a good idea in NYC. wow... I love your videos, but I guess people there are really desperate for apartments if sleeping next to the building's basement that has construction materials - is considered a good thing...
@6:58 Not an "enclave," an enclave is part of a country that is surrounded by another country, or a group of people who are different from the people living in the surrounding area. I think you mat mean "alcove."
Charles, be honest how many times do you have to keep Cash in check for breaking things? Slamming doors, ripping down smoke detectors, and testing sink sprayers? 😄
I agree. At first I really liked these videos, but now I’m sick of all the slamming and sink testing and worst of all the overly dramatic smoke detector vandalism.
I agree he is very rough with banging and slamming things around. It’s kind of teenager like. And any person that can afford 8,000 a month rent go buy a damn house. That apt is not worth 8 grand anymore than the rest of that tiny ass space is worth. I know it’s NY City but move some where else and save your money. 🍷🍷🍷🍷
The big air-conditioner mounted at the top of the window was not installed properly or safely. Only the front control panel can be in the apartment, the rest of it must be hanging outside the window. The way it is installed now it will pump hot air back into the apartment which will cause the compressor to run constantly as the air inside will never be cool enough to allow the thermostat to cycle the a/c on and off as it is supposed to.
Yea or if there's a hole in the wall behind it, it's gonna continuously suck air out of the building and blow it outside. Completely unusable like that. Not to mention the condensation has nowhere to go. I'd imagine its also way oversized for the area.
As a Texan I am enjoying this video There’s an outlet! Could this be a second bedroom? You could put a chair out here Interior view 8K a month… I don’t think the air would reach up here Prep space! Makes you appreciate what you have.
I would love for you to do a video about HUD and section 8 housing and if they exist in NYC and if they do what can the tenants expect to get. I’ve never heard you mention it and I can’t imagine that a city as big as NYC doesn’t have something available for people that are on low income or no income. I know the streets are full of those people but surely there’s something out there for them. There’s probably a long waiting list but still it’s better than nothing?
The first apartment gives you the choice of (illegally - no window) sleeping downstairs or sliding into the cramped loft. There have to be better choices for $4,000/month. The second apartment has tons of space, but not $8,000 worth! The third apartment, though nicely finished, is a studio with a sleeping closet for $6,000. No, thanks. The fourth apartment (the triplex) has reasonably defined spaces and a loft for guests to sleep, though the bathroom is inconveniently placed. For $4,800 it's the best deal of this overpriced selection. I think the $4,650 unit is another studio. BTW, virtually all air conditioners are made in China regardless of the brand.
Great video, interesting apartments good info on them. Only 2 pet peeves dirty windows and ac units going through windows I'd be terrified of something going wrong.
It says "do not remove until final installation," which implies you're supposed to move it when installing. It's a protective strip and I wouldn't be surprised if it's not safety rated for a high enough temperature to legally stay on the range while it's in use.
I am a contractor in Southwestern PA. OMG, I'd never think about doing most of the stuff contractors do there. And the regulations are crazy!!! Please someone tell me how this happens! Omg, I would NEVER!
When you show these apartments can you also include the HOA on top of the apartment??? I was curious and looked up apartments in NY and the HOA cost was freaking amazingly high. As an example you get yourself a $1500 shoe box apartment BUT your HOA isn't included so you pay $1200 a month for HOA. I pay $1100 a month for a 5 bedroom, 4 bathroom 3000 sq foot home and $130 a Year for HOA.
that's how he makes a living, ripping people off in unsafe neighborhoods. Not on the ethical side of real estate brokers, you're dealing with a youtube influencer/ real estate agent here, and you pay accordingly.
@Jake Z he doesn't rip off people. He doesn't price the apartments. I live in NYC in Manhattan, and the only place that is a little cheaper is certain neighborhoods that people don't want to move in to.
I don't care how anyone tries to justify the rent on this broom closet, it is an absolute rip off. I would rather commute. My parents own a 16th century manor house in Cheshire, the payments on some of the basic apartments this guy shows us, would cover most of the cost of a mortgage to buy somewhere similar. Bearing in mind, there's 5 double bedrooms, 4 reception rooms, a kitchen, orangery and 4 acres of arable land.
First off as a native New Yorker let me say if your family doesn't own their home or your living on rent stabilized property. No one actually lives in New York City. Everyone commutes from upstate NY or New Jersey where things cost normal prices.
No way would I get an apartment with a shared balcony where some crazi can push his way into my room. They should fence the balconies off with permanent walls
This might have been said but the third place, the one bedroom is only a one bedroom if you are all tall roommates. Parents with 2 kids, however, have got themselves three bedrooms. The closet under the stairs is a decent size for a Harry Potter room. Put your 2+ year old in there and give it a Harry Potter look. Or a Lego look for the little one. You see a closet but they will see a room made for them and their size. I built one in a similar space next to my husband’s hospital room and under the stairs. A Granny Cave. I kept my herbs in the long spot by the door, but there was a 3ft opening behind that where the lowest part of the stairs were built. So the closet was actually U shaped. It was a spot that was quiet, no one could find me but I could hear husband if he needed help. I could read or nap. I put one of the kids bunks down there and battery powered fairy lights. Unfortunately, the grands came down looking for granny and husband thought it would be funny if they snuck in and scared me. Kids are not that quiet so no fright but they thought it was so cool it became the Harry Potter room and was no longer a quiet spot. The kids would hear the parents come down the stairs and turn off the fairy lights & hide. The other bedroom would be the loft area. The one actual bedroom would be the master.
Just amazes me how much rent is in NYC for nothing. We live in a 2400sqft new townhouse with pool, good area, outdoor kitchen in Katy, Tx and pay $2900 monthly. People are leaving NYC rent should be going down appears to be a lot on the market. Cash sometimes your like a bull in a China cabinet! Lol
I wish you guys could tour apartments in Seattle! I could afford a studio here, maybe a one bedroom, if I wanted all my income to go into rent! Nyc however is way beyond that 😓
So the landlord had a steady tenant. It is still the landlord responsibility to Bruce it up ( fix or update the appliances). That is a hotel wall sconce.
