Dear Brenda, you're a huge inspiration to me! Vegetarian for 11 years, vegan for a few years and raising a vegan child. I get so much criticism every single day, makes me feel so isolated and frustrated, but listening to you gives me so much support and encouragement. This was the second youtube I listened and I'm just so inspired! Thank you for everything you do! Keep it up! I feel like you're my oxygen these days! :)
I feel the same way because my kids want to fit in with their peers and the they feel strong and untouched by diseases! It’s not easy! I’m now trying to hangout with vegans in the area! Get tips from them! You’re not alone but stick to it your kid will thank you for it!
Brenda Davis has my admiration. Not only is she very knowledgeable in nutrition but she is very inspirational for those who are on the fence about becoming vegan.
This woman is a scientist and nutritional authority of the highest caliber. I love her, and can't recommend her books highly enough. "Becoming Vegan" written by Brenda and fellow dietitian, Vesanto Melina, is an excellent comprehensive nutritional reference. I was just blown away by the amount of information in this book, with all topics thoroughly discussed and every recommendation backed up by the latest scientific evidence. It literally addressed every single question I had about nutrition and is a must-own for anyone who's truly interested in the latest scientific research, and eating for optimal health. There is an "express" edition as well, but the comprehensive edition should be the leading scientific reference in university nutrition courses. However, if you just want to waste your money on another "diet" book that's going to tell you exactly what you want to hear so that you don't actually have to significantly change your eating habits, then her books won't be of interest to you. Yes, of course it's true that many vegans go vegan for ethical reasons, and this should be applauded. But in order to ensure that you feel your best and actually stay vegan, please make your health a priority and follow the advice of someone like Brenda Davis who really knows what they're talking about. Actually staying vegan and not merely trying it for a few months and failing, is key.
Fantastic video! I admire Brenda Davis so much! Everything I've ever heard her say is filled with wisdom, carefully reasoned, detailed and yet clearly expressed for us laypeople. :)

I love this lady. She give fantastic information. I just wish to share my experience with those who are interested. have been on a fully plant based diet for three weeks now and my fingernails have become very strong. They have some length to them now too it is amazing! Of all the things I might have noticed it is my nails that have changes so I am guessing hair will improve too. As I have always eaten lots of veg the only thing I can attribute the change to is eating legumes everyday, increasing mushroom intake, increasing onion and garlic intake and a few more tomatoes.
Thank you your clarity in details to understand why I do not eat animal products and for given me facts to explain why I gravitated away from meat, fish and dairy products. I still am working on eliminating butter and eggs, but eventually it will happen. Thank you for such a wonderful informative talk.
Thank you, thank you, thank you. I've been searching for someone who is knowledgeable about the real issues and concerns of a whole food based diet. I want for myself and my family to be as healthy with a whole based diet as we can. You've truly giving me hope that I can live a better life that I'm looking for with this eating change.
Brenda! Thank you so much for what you're doing. You're one my biggest role models! You've inspired me to continue working towards Nutrition and Dietetics. Thank you!!!
One reason to eat plant based foods is found at Genesis 1:29 - And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.
She makes very convincing arguments for veganism in regard to nutrition, but also finally she shows we all have an ethical choice to make.We are responsible for slaughter of 70 billion living creatures unless we refuse this way of life and encourage others to do the same.
Not going to claim I'm the perfect Vegan. I still have leather in my life, still put out ant traps, and spray for those little bugs that eat my plants... lol. Yes, it's a little funny, but I became plant based for health purposes. I knew I had a troubled relationship with food, and it took a long time to get to the point that my body doesn't rebel when I eat. When my mom died from colon cancer, I swore I would only eat what grows in, and from the ground... . I was thinking of fiber, as I had terrible digestive problems, as did my whole family. Now, very little, but I have had to let my body get used to eating this food, and not go off it to eat more processed junk food. It's a journey for someone like me. Doesn't have to be, but I'm a tester. I try things, don't believe things, and start all over again. I'm convinced now, and love my life style. As I get older, I'm grateful for whatever time I've eaten whole foods/plants only. I love her. She's not been on the popular radar, but I love this talk, and will watch her more often. Love her story. Thank you, Real Truth, for having her on.
So when she says vegetarian, she's meaning vegan right? Idk how it is in other countries but in America there's a pretty big difference between a vegan and a vegetarian.
In America vegan means all vegetables nuts and seeds, no animal products at all. Vegetarian could be lacto ovo vegetarian they consume eggs, milk and cheese products.
I have been a vegan for the last 4-5 years. I have a great success the first 6 months! But now I don’t feel any different in terms of previous aches and pain! I don’t take any pills as my age group meat eaters! I only take vit b12, multivitamin and probiotic! I grow fruits and vegetables in my 6800 sf lot in suburban! I think I do everything right. However I don’t feel my best! Any vegan has any tip? Thanks in advance!
So if people live longer by going plant based, but have less buying power because the population goes way up.... I'm thinking all of the good food is going to be terribly expensive going forward... unless of course we take matters into our own hands and grow our own food. How is that going to happen? Not everyone can ensure they're getting good food by growing it themselves. Especially in Canada.
Q and A? It's a monologue. Tragically I have a long list of medically verified food allergies so I have to bear that in mind with all this advice. My layer I call it.
You can also eat vegan and walk around treating everyone horribly. That's probably not going to help veganism very much. Nor will being an unhealthy example of veganism.
People see sickly vegans and use that to justify their belief that people NEED to eat meat and dairy to be healthy. Your choice to eat junk and be unhealthy really does hurt animals.

She had a powerful speech, I am convinced by her,
Brenda, you're the best! Please keep the knowledge coming. I aspire to educate those around me about nutrition and active lifestyle as well :)
Brenda! Thank you so much for what you're doing. You're one my biggest role models! You've inspired me to continue working towards Nutrition and Dietetics. Thank you!!!
"But they have eyes!". That just killed me.
I know right? Me too!
You know...that gave me a visual...that will make you not want to eat meat thinking about their eyes!
You have such pretty skin!
Thank you for staying and making a difference. A champion. Rave on!
Mary Lou Longworth @
Wonderful woman! Thank you!
Absolutely awesome. Thank you.
She SAYS what a lot of us think and feel.
Are nuts a sustainable source of plant foods? I've heard things like almonds and cashews are resource intensive. Are so e better than others? Thanks!
Respect

Hi fellow Canadian WFPBer. Love your energy and information
Love you Brenda! Thank you from a fellow Canadian.
Thank you so much for this

Loved it.
Yeah, cows milk for osteoporosis. That makes a lot of sense.
What about stinging nettels? They are also green leaves and I wonder about calcium how much they have compering with Kale?
She is such a cute lady
more than cute : fantastic !
Yes, she is an attractive woman.
But i'm more impressed by her overall fitness.
( not to mention, her bone density )
Excellent.

at 32:20 re Vitamin D3 supplements. I think she means 1000-2000 IU not mcg i.e 25 - 50 mcg.
So when she says vegetarian, she's meaning vegan right? Idk how it is in other countries but in America there's a pretty big difference between a vegan and a vegetarian.
She's talking about both.

That's powerful

Maybe get a full blood count and urea and electrolytes, liver function, bone profile, 25-OH (vit D) , serum lipids
farmer giles I got my regular CBC, liver function, a1c, thy all good! What are those other 2?
@@jodiethuy4122 The urea and electrolytes would be kidney function i.e sodium, potassium and creatine levels. How's the B12 and Vitamin D levels ?
Romans 14:2 - One person has faith that he may eat all things, but he who is weak eats vegetables only.
AHmen sister never stop ... I'll help however I can
So for you, the veganism came first and the nutritional science came after.
wow good thing I came to vegan/vegetarian diet from Dr Furman. there is no way this"hunters evil" mentality would play with me.
You wouldn't want to give up any of your privilege just to reduce the suffering of other animals.
16:20 truth!

Yeah, but don't take away my coffee & Himalayan salt :-(
But paleo people die faster, so we would only need 6 earths instead of 10 to sustain everyone on paleo. :p
Vegans are ravenous food addicts. You are wrong. No vegan can live on OMAD or OM2D. They'll eat the whole planet.
we have a carnivore's mouth, teeth, and digestive tract, we cannot digest plants.
Looks likes she can and her son, I myself am not sure.
🤣🤣🤣
Could she talk if her hands were tied?
You lost me when you meantioned the stupid UN
Veganism is not about a diet but about animals. you can eat vegan not eat healthy food.
You can also eat vegan and walk around treating everyone horribly. That's probably not going to help veganism very much. Nor will being an unhealthy example of veganism.
i totally disagree. veganism is about everything around me. starting me, my health, the environment and the animals and their freedom.
People see sickly vegans and use that to justify their belief that people NEED to eat meat and dairy to be healthy. Your choice to eat junk and be unhealthy really does hurt animals.
